Rate the last movie you saw

Haven't seen the movie, but it's wierd....some people say it's the best ever and others say it's not watchable.

That's the way it is with pretty much all of Tarantino's work, you either love it or hate it, but you should know exactly what you're in for everytime you see one of his films.

Just saw the Blindside this weekend, finally. Great, movie. Thought Sandra Bullock looked great.

Anyway, loved it and will buy it on blueray when it comes out.

Check and check, good movie and Sandra looked fantastic.

Pretty easy to get a guage on. If you love Tarantino moives, you will love this movie. If not, then you will not be impressed. Most common knock that I've heard is that people were under the impression that the movie would center around Brad Pitt and that it would be historically accurate. Neither of those would hold true.

Well, I have really loved some of Tarantinos work and really disliked some of his other stuff so that doesn't help me out much, but I hear what you're saying.

didn't matter to me [bit of a WWII buff, don't think much of Brad Pitt tho]

the acting of the SS Colonel and the bar scene, plus the action, esp in the theatre, were all superb

I don't consider myself a Tarantino die hard either. It was just a great movie.

The Book of Eli - 7+/10

Kinda caught me off guard a little bit, but it was an enjoyable movie. Action scenes were pretty sweet. It get's the '+' in the rating because it has Mila Kunis in it. :D

The Hurt Locker 7/10

Surprisingly non-gory for a war movie.
Really liked that one. I'd probably give it an 8. A bunch of no-named actors for the most part and some pretty good performances IMO.

**spoiler**

Didn't really understand why he took "Beckham'"s death so personally. Because he had a kid himself? Or why he would do something so reckless as to go to the kid's house without backup.

Well if you look at how he handled diffusing bombs throughout the movie it isn't that far off that he would do something like he did for that kid. He was a guy that really didn't think things through. Also towards the end when they went chasing after those people in the alleys. He wanted to do it and shot his partner in the leg. I think that is just how he was reacting before really thinking about the risks he put himself and others in.

Ah hah, but have you thought that maybe he shot the dude in the leg on purpose to get him out of there since he was clearly having a hell of a time doing his job?

I'm just saying! :D

Law Abiding Citizen - 5/10
Could have been so much better. They couldn't figure out what type of movie they wanted it to be. Is it espionage? Is it an escape thriller? Detective story? Action movie? Revenge flick? Torture movie? Jamie Foxx was good, and outside of his lousy American accent so was Gerrard Butler, the cast was definitely there to do something bigger and better, but they couldn't pull it off. I blame the script writers.

The Book of Eli--------------8/10

A very entertaining movie and I really enjoyed the action sequence and the cinematography. However, I had a lot of questions afterwards. I felt like a number of things were not explained well enough or were not carried out in the movie very well.

Does anyone know if the movie was based on a book? If so, I feel like I really need to read the book in order to get a handle on the background for the story and to get answers to the many questions that i have.

As far as I know it's not based on a movie.

Watched Star Trak last night. Now i'm not a fan of star trek but i thought this was a very good movie. Made me laugh many time. Great action and i'm old enough and know just enough about the history of the whole thing to get the plot line. 8.5/10

I'm pretty sure it was based off a comic or graphic novel.

Edit: I am wrong, it wasn't. Though the look and tone was somewhat meant to be like a comic book world.

You are right, it's based on a screenplay :)

Haha, good point, I meant book.

The Blind Side - 7/10

Good movie, I'd say it was pretty much the typical archetype for these type of movies though, the only thing that helps is that it's based on a true story.

One thing I definitely don't understand is any idea that Sandra should get an Oscar for her performance. It wasn't exactly a demanding role. She was good, but Oscar worthy is a bit of a stretch. If she even gets a nomination, I'd consider that a win for her.

If you're into "gangster" movies, check out Rise of the Foot Soldier. True story, pretty screwed up.

The Hurt Locker - 8/10

I really enjoyed the movie. They didn't have to go way over the top with the blood and guts just because it was a war movie.

I thought it was well done, they kept it interesting, and they kept you thinking and asking yourself questions about how it must be to be over there.
