I'll go up to 7.2 out of 10 for my rating of this film.

It's following the books almost precisely, and it's because Suzanne Collins has so much input into the films (her name is all over the credits).

When I was reading the novels, the time period covered by Mockingjay, Part 1, left me non-plussed and to tell the truth, I had forgotten (thankfully) a lot of stuff from this period that I was reminded of in the film. So the problem with this particular film in the franchise is the period in the novels it covered - bringing that part of the overall story to the big screen is a challenge most daunting indeed. I expect the Part 2 to be pretty kick-butt and much better.

Maleficent.

Watched it on the flight from Japan to the Manila. The story line was pretty standard but I enjoyed the 3D effects.

I will give it a 7.

I actually enjoy the films for what they are.... I appreciated the dark look of the newest film.... thats always rather bold considering most young folks don't think about mood interpretation......., and the commentary on media is interesting...
Also, 1&2 (mockingly) probably could have been one movie... but the quartet is the new trilogy in the film world...
dolla, dolla bill.

6.5 is good in my book, but I have a very strict book...:D

Would You Rather (2012)

Horror flick, wherein a sadistic guy invites unknowing people once a year to play an unspecified "game", with the winner being taken care of financially, etc. They have no idea what the "game" or contest is, and have no idea the consequences of "losing". Pretty sadistic stuff. I have problems with the logic of the film on several levels, but it passed the time. Oh, the son of the sadistic guy, Julian, is played by that dude playing "Penguin" on "Gotham" TV show...he did okay I guess in this.

6.5 out of 10

The Story of John DuPont, & The Shultz brothers eerily revisited......
The filmmaker's want to create a character study, at times out ways the necessity to tell the story/move it forward.
Why not just get actors who closely resemble the characters they are portraying, instead of prosthetics?
Very Distracting imo, it takes away from the performances of Carell, & Ruffalo...(though they are far from irreplaceable)
Solid Watch, Solid performances, Very good photography.

Bridesmaids

7/10

It was on TBS, so it was heavily edited. I think I would've enjoyed it more at the movies.

Wasn't bad. Typical PG-rated animated movie. Kiddos liked it, so that's kinda all that matters. lol

I would probably give it a seven out of ten. It had a few slow parts. My kids really liked it though.

I thought the ending was a bit rushed after they spent so much time developing the story.

But the movie got extra points because of the location. That theater had reclining seats. We usually go to the cheap movie theater where I can pay $4.50 max to see a movie. But you get what you pay for, so yeah. Cheap movie. Low quality environment. lol

INTERSTELLAR (IMAX, and not just any IMAX but huuuuuuge IMAX at Smithsonian Air & Space in DC!)

Reminds me of so many films. Not Matrix, in which the Oracle comments something like "that'll really bake your noodle" or something like that...Me forgets...but you get the idea. THINK THINK THINK.

This film is layer upon layer upon layer. All the while featuring superb acting, homages to past Sci-Fi Great Films (Contact, 2001 A Space Odyssey, Star Trek, Star Wars, Gravity, I'm sure there are more...)

The film starts with humanity in a desperate situation, and builds from there. I can't really say much more without spoilers. It was a really long film and not long enough at the same time.

The little girl that played "Murph" should get an Academy Award. No doubt.

Christopher Nolan, you are GENIUS.

I would love to talk in detail about so many things of this epic film but it is simply impossible without giving spoilers.

AND THAT SOUNDTRACK! Boggle. Superb!!

The IMAX experience of this added the HUGE screen, plus the massively enhanced audio. RUMMMMMMMBLE-FEEEEEEL-IT.... JUST AWESOME!!

In all my previous movie reviews on this forum, in this thread, I have given precisely ONE 10 out of 10 rating for any film. And I think I made an error in that...the one film was "12 Years A Slave". I should also have given the original Korean film "Old Boy" a 10 out of 10 if I didn't...

Anyway, my point is, THIS film is my second ever 10 out of 10!

GO SEE THIS MOVIE.

I'd like to say to anyone thinking of seeing this at Air & Space Museum - do it! sparse crowds!! No food or beverage allowed inside sadly but that can be a good thing.

This being a nearly 3 hour film - I could not believe it tonight!! NOT ONE CELL PHONE LIT UP IN THE CROWD! NOT ONE PERSON WENT TO THE BATHROOM, BLOCKING THE VIEW!! NO TALK, NO NOISE!!

This was the most perfect crowd at a film EVER!!!

So, that helped.

Seeing it in 70MM IMAX is the absolute best way to see a movie like this. I'm glad I got to see in that format.
