Minions: No Bueno, 3 out of 10. Everything was set up for this movie to be enjoyed. We had a family movie outing with friends and their kids, in a "dine-in" style theater. Everyone was in a good mood with no overhyped preconceived expectations.....and it still stunk. They quickly became annoying and stayed at that level for most of the movie. I briefly lost the battle to the Z monster about halfway in. I didn't even put up a fight, it was just that boring. The kids liked it pretty good though, so mission accomplished I guess.

That's about how I felt, though probably not quite that bad (maybe 5/10). I really wanted to fall asleep and my legs got really restless, but I just have a great deal of trouble sleeping if I'm not comfortable in bed (even then it's not easy). Just not very funny, and there was very little actually going on in the movie. I think I had a decent laugh twice, one of which was during the credits sequence.

The Minions suffered from too much given away in the trailers for the movie. The movie began and it was like watching the preview until Scarlett got introduced and then it took off.

Out of the Furnace. 6/10. The movie did, however, succeed in having me re-think my relationship situation in one scene. I will never in my life doubt the power that the arts can have over our emotions. I've been a certifiable disaster the last few days.

Thanks, Christian Bale and Zoe Saldana!

Ted 2: 6/10. I loved the first one. This one, not so much. It has a few funny lines, but dragged on for what seemed like 3 hours.

Magic Mike- 5/10 I needed more Magic. Apparantly XXL isnt any better, but my eyes still want to see it.

Shooter- 7/10 Can't believe this Mark Wahlberg movie slipped by me.

Magic Mike was Meh. I thought it was supposed to be a fun movie, but it was pretty dark. However, I've heard that XXL is just the opposite. My plan is to go see it in the next couple of days to see for myself. Ya know, for research.

I hated the first Ted. Well, hate is a strong word, but I really didn't like it much. Was never led to watch the 2nd one.

Inside/Out-5/10. Too complicated for kids and too convoluted for adults. Lewis Black as Anger was the best/funniest character. Other than that, meh.

A Walk among the Tombstones - Meh...really thought it was slow and boring for the most part. It seemed that they put in the effort to try and get you to connect with the main character but it just did not work for me at all. At the end when the little girl was free I did not really care if the main character would get killed or not. Just did not click at all with me and sometimes I like a mindless action movie but this did not even provide that much action.

Star Trek Into Darkness - I did not mind it too much but I hated the Kirk/Spock flip at the end and thought the scene were KAHHHHHN is yelled was about as lame as you could get for the franchise. I don't mind them changing some things up but sometimes changing for the sake of changing is not good. Also, Cumberbatch is a good actor but he just did not make me think of Kahn at all. He could have been any other (in the previous star trek universe or completely new) bad guy and maybe it would have worked for me....but as Kahn it just did not fit to me.
I think he would make a good, slightly darker 'Q'.

Terminator Genisys

I know it has been reviewed and I give it a 6/10 as well. If it weren't for a couple parts, it would be a 4.5. This movie was a little confusing and all over the place. A few secondary actors made this movie better than it should have been like JK Simmons and Jason Clarke.

Two reasons worth watching:
1. It is Terminator with the Arnold we know and love back in his wheelhouse
2. Most importantly.......Emilia Clarke!

I'm going to be a little more generous.7-7.5 out of 10

They actually tied the spaghetti timeline plots together pretty well. They definitely thought it out.

I remember back at the end of the Sarah Connor Chronicles they talked of John and being part machine so this wasn't a surprise. I get it. Don't care for that part.

They left the end open for another movie or two..... But before that part.... They commited the cardinal sin. The let Arnold live.

So... The rise of the machines will in fact STILL happen. You can't stop judgement day... Only delay it. Is john still this hybrid?

The first 30 minutes of Genisys was great. I loved all the tie ins to the original. After that, it got pretty lame. Sadly, it could have been really good.

I sorta agree... But I don't know what else they could have done really?

Sarah Connor always got in the way of the success of their plans (they are ignoring T3) so they changed it up.

I know the aging of human tissue and hair was convenient for the age of Arnold (30 years older) ... I still didn't like it. He can regenerate skin but it's old skin.

He was upgraded... Should have come back young. CGI the heck outta him... I know it took to his current form. Lol

So now they have to go back to a story of.... You didn't stop judgement day... You just delayed it. Mish mosh!

7.0/10.0

"THIS ONE'S FOR YOU ANTIE!!!" (You'll understand if you ever watch the movie. ;) )

The first 30 - 35 minutes is slow and frankly boring. The setup is weak. Sure, it is a comedy/action/drama but sometimes you should try putting it all together at the same time. Prison and ex-con stereotypes can be funny but the movie tries too hard to make them fit the plot. To me, the film takes off just before Scott Lang first acquires the Ant-Man suit. Then the hero takes center stage and the special effects (which are very good) and other characters make it an enjoyable film through the ending.

I thought Paul Rudd (Lang), Michael Douglas (Dr. Pym), and Evangeline Lilly (Pym's daughter Hope) played their roles really well. Rudd didn't force his usual comedic persona too much for most of the movie and I think it worked well (after the first quarter of the movie of course). Douglas exudes some qualities (and a little arrogance) associated with one of Marvel's genius-level characters. I thought Lilly was perfect as Hope. That last impression was solidified after seeing the during the end credits cut scene. The father/daughter dynamic between Douglas and Lilly was a good subplot.

Corey Stoll (Darren Cross/Yellowjacket) managed the overly ambitious protege turned villain part but he didn't invoke a lot of fear in my opinion. It seems like Judy Greer always plays the supporting role of some character's relative well and she doesn't disappoint as Lang's ex-wife. The actor playing her police officer husband and his partner were a little too "Keystone" for me. Michael Pena (Luis), T.I. (Dave) and the actor playing Kurt grew on me as the movie went along. The Hayley Atwell and Anthony Mackie's cameos were nice continuity tie-ins. Shoot, Atwell is great to see in any of these movies :) Except when she wore all that excessive old age makeup in Captain America: The Winter Soldier :( :p

All in all, I think it is a good addition to the Marvel movie franchise. Now for The Wasp..!

Lila and Eve-6/10 Viola Davis and Jennifer Lopez play grief stricken mothers whose children have been murdered. They meet at a mothers support group for women who have lost a child and Eve (J.Lo) convinces Lila (Viola) to take it upon themselves to find the people responsible for murdering Lila's son and get justice. There is a plot twist that reminds me of Fight Club and the ending is just a little bizarre for my taste.

Trainwreck: 8/10. A little too long, but funny throughout. Someone raunchy rom-com.

JJ Abrams take on Star Trek has been just not very good.

Furious 7-8/10 The chase scene with the bus was pretty good. And the car jumping from building to building. The cast has good chemistry (especially Luda and Tyrese). Still can't believe Paul Walker is gone.
Minions- 6.5/10 Not as bad as some say. To me anyway. Had some good music.
Lazarus Effect-5/10 Had a couple of good 'jump' scenes, but otherwise 'meh'. Pretty good ending.

Flight with D.Washington.

Denzel does a good job as usual but I have to say that even after the character takes his life changing step at the end I was already at the point that I hoped he went to jail and had no sympathy for him what so ever.

Sure his character did what other pilots could not do sober but in the end I just did not care for the character because he was such a self absorbed addict. Changing at the last minute seemed like them trying to wrap everything up in a little bow to have a happy hollywood ending. I would have had more respect for the movie if he just stayed true to the character and kept lying and being an addict.
