Ted 2: 6/10. I loved the first one. This one, not so much. It has a few funny lines, but dragged on for what seemed like 3 hours.

My exact feelings...

Ted 2 : 6/10....not even close to the first one

Yeah, and My least favorite Mission Impossible was the one he did. Has me nervous as heck about Episode 7

I completely disagree. I have enjoyed his Star Trek films thus far (And watched Wrath of Kahn for the first time after STID, and thought it was horrible), and MI3 is my favorite (2 is far and away the worst IMO).

That was epic, especially the title of the movie he was watching with his bride, "Shark Wedding". A little Red Wedding payback!

"Trailer Park Boys-Don't Legalize It, Weed Rather Not"

Lots of folks have said these guys are funny... And I'm a big Canadian humor guy, luv "Red Green" and "Corner Gas".

So when the video was for sale for $4 at the video store I figured, "OK, lets have some chuckles."

I shut the thing off after 20 minutes. It was awful. I'm sure I missed some inside jokes by not seeing any of the previous shows, but I kinda figured that would happen. I thought the usual sharp Canadian comedy writing would include a lot of good yuks.

There were a lot of "efs" but they weren't funny.

1/10.

Trainwreck - 3/10. The title of the movie was very apt. It's just a mess of a movie that drags on for far too long and offers very little in the way of laughs. I haven't seen much of Amy Schumer, but if this is her "humor" I can do without it. Apparently there is an idea that saying something unexpected or in a blunt manner automatically makes it funny. It does not.

7.5/10.0

Visually I thought this was a really good movie. It's not grandiose and doesn't pretend to be. The film examines a what if scenario in a subdued fashion faintly like a documentary, although it is clearly a drama. It's good science fiction.

I'm not familiar with her previous work but I thought Alicia Vikander was outstanding as Ava the robotic A.I. She never overplayed her role. She presented Ava as genuine but not in a cold bland artificial way. Oscar Isaac's character was equally believable. He seemed like an average Joe who you understood deep down was a genius with whispers of a sinister personal trait. I didn't like the actor playing Caleb quite as much as I did the other two. His naïveté seemed a bit forced for such an intelligent individual thrown in the midst of an isolated yet "obvious" environment.

I thought the movie was good sci-fi in that it questioned ethics from both the human and nonhuman perspectives. The film makes you consider what the defining line is that exists between humanity and machine then blurs the line just enough to heighten your interest. It engages anticipation without dramatic soundtrack or awesome special effect displays. A smart and unpretentious movie.

I agree.

But.... That idiot thought that when the power went out that no one was watching on battery back up.

Ant man 6/10

It was ok, and made me laugh at some parts. But the movie itself was kind of boring, I fell asleep towards the end. I'm getting a little tired of the villains in these marvel movies being absolutely no threat....if thanos doesn't at least obliterate a few hundred people and whoop the living crap out of a few avengers I'll probably just walk out the theater.

I watched two Adam Sandler movies this weekend. One was intentional and the other not.

The Cobbler - 6/10 I had no idea Adam Sandler was in this movie. My wife rented the movie from Netflix. When the beginning credits started and I saw Adam Sandler was in the movie I kind of lowered the bar on my expectations, but Dustin Hoffman and Steve Buscemi were in it so I had higher expectations than when it started. There where a few flaws with the movie but I have to admit Sandler was not the problem. It is a fantasy movie where a cobbler (Sandler) takes the identity of individuals when he wears their shoes that were repaired by a magical stiching machine. It was an entertaining movie but it wasn't a comedy as you expect with Sandler in it. Since I had never heard of this movie going in I researched it and the movie was hammered by critics. I wouldn't watch it again because one of the things that kept me going was to see what was going to happen next as he kept changing characters to move along the plot. Now that I know how everything played out I would be bored watching it again.

Pixel - 7/10 This is another Adam Sandler film that got hammer by critics. Sandler does go for the very low hanging fruit of comedy in a lot of his comedies. In fact, I think the last few of his films the fruit had already fallen on the ground and started rotting because they were horrible. Anyway, this was a film I wanted to see when I first saw the trailer some months ago. I read the reviews saying how much the movie sucked but as a guy who played a lot of 80's video games it was a kick in pants nostalgia fun film for me. The theater was only about 25 percent full for the Sunday Matinee but there was a lot of laughter from the crowd. The action was pretty good too. I would watch it again.

A side note, if you've ever seen the movie The Swamp (The original cheesy 1982 movie) the black kid (Reggie Batts) who befriends the Swamp Thing was my next door neighbor when the move was made. Well, he could "beat" the original Pac Man. He knew the entire game pattern and it was really intense watching him play in the latter rounds. I mention it because Pac Man was a big part of the movie and the Adam Sandler character mentions beating the early arcade games was all about knowing the patterns.

Is he following the 7, 8 and 9 parts of that trilogy. I would guess not.

Ok so I just checked

Lucas had story treatments for episodes VII, VIII and IX which he turned over to Disney chairman Bob Iger around the time Lucasfilm was sold to Disney in 2012.[27] However, during an interview with Cinemablend in January 2014 to promote the upcoming release of the Lucasfilm animated movie Strange Magic, Lucas revealed that ultimately, Disney chose not to use the story treatments which he had written and turned over with the acquisition, and that the company chose to create brand new stories for the upcoming movies instead: "The ones that I sold to Disney, they came up to the decision that they didn't really want to do those. So they made up their own. So it's not the ones that I originally wrote [on screen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens]"[28] No information about these has been released; however, during the previous 35 years Lucas had given many hints about the content of the sequel trilogy, including the following (sometimes contradictory) possibilities:

They are an acquired taste for sure.

And it is really hard to just grab one of their movies and like it from scratch. I made that mistake a couple years back. Did the same thing you did, watched a few minutes of a movie on Crackle or Hulu and thought it was dumb.

Later someone told me to watch season one and go from there. As time passed I grew to really enjoy them but there is nothing real thought provoking or original within the series. The characters are the same throughout the movies and series and the ending for each season is almost always the same. The humor is juvenile and dirty but for whatever reason for a series that looks like it has a real cheap budget it still makes me laugh.

The last season I did not like the first half of the season but enjoyed the second half of the season but even then it was the same gags over and over just wrapped up in slightly different wrapping paper.

Next season it appears that Snoop will be on the show so that might be something different.

Thanks for this. I had placed current releases on hold after Ant-Man in anticipation of Fantastic Four but I may go see Pixels now. I wasn't a big fan of Pac-Man, Centipede or Donkey Kong. Those games get a "lot" of face time in the trailers. My favorite games were Galaga and Joust. Maybe the movie shows enough variety of games that those two will get shown, especially Galaga. I was a master on that game, playing for hours on a single quarter. Those were good times. :) The local arcade owner hated me though. :( :p

Lol...My brother was an excellent Galaga player. I thought I was decent until I played against him. He would blow me away. Joust was my game. I LOVED that game and I one quarter would last me for hours. It was the one game I knew I could play better than just about anyone else. There were a few times I would have to give the game away because I ran out of time and would have to leave.

Not to give anything away, but Galaga kind of gets everything started. :) The movie is stupid in a lot of ways, but I was fun for me.

Your brother sounds like the kind of opponent I only had the chance of playing once when I was young. The guy I met would string three fighers together and fight right-to-left. My favorite fighter combo was two ships and my fire pattern was left-to-right. I remember we started our match at 10:30 on a Saturday morning. The arcade owner kept the place open till we both ran out of ships just before midnight. Over twelve hours game play on $.50. That was sweet.

Galaga is one of the best examples of repetition. You cannot lose once you get the enemy ship flight paths down pat UNLESS you lose focus. People would gather at my game console and swear I was dead to rights, stuck in a corner, with torpedo volleys and blue support fighters swarming around me, but I would simple wait for a crease and blast my way out of the situation. Sometimes I could wipe out three straight stages of formations without being attacked a single time before hitting a challenge stage. Galaga was a great game to play.

Yeah, the nostalgia (sp?) is eating at me. I may see the movie sooner rather than later. :p

I remember a bunch of us after school would walk over to the 7-11 and play gauntlet where you could have 4 people playing at the same time. We would play for hours. I know that machine had to rake the money in.

Me, too. That game could last quite a bit of time if we had enough quarters.
