Just got out and thought it was fantastic. The girlfriend and I watch the original last night (somehow I had never seen it) so watching them back to back was fun.

This is the only sequel I can recall being better than the original.

Can anyone recall a movie who's sequel was better?

Raid 2 was better than Raid 1....

Love Jackie Chan and fun to watch, but no need to spend money to hit the theaters. It's a good watch if it's on cable or Redbox. It's a 5.4/10...

Never even heard of Raid 1 or 2, I’ll have to check them out

I liked the Second Godfather movie more than the first.
The only Scary Movie I liked was the second one.
I liked Aliens better than the original even though the original was pretty darn good.
I liked the 2nd and 3rd Purge movies better than the first one
The road warrior was better than Mad Max
I think the Toy Story movies have gotten better each time
Devils Rejects was better than house 1000 corpses (actually Devils Rejects is about the only Rob Zombie movie I like)
Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift is about the only one of the F&F movies I really like
Star Trek II...Wrath of Kahn...KAHHHHHNNNNNN
Some like Empire Strikes back better than A New Hope

LOL... Yeah, I went IMDB style... I agree with their rating on this one...

If you love Asian flicks, Raid series has set the bar for years to come. The style is Silat and Indonesian, but the director is Scottish Gareth Evans and he revolutionized the whole genre. The next movie that is on my watch is Japanese, called Re:born. It is supposed to be released in the 'West' within the next few months, but came out in Japan last year.

Nice list there.

I think Lethal Weapon 2 was much better than the first one. That one comes to mind along with several you mentioned.

Is the Raid where the cops go into that drug lord's "base" building and have to fight their way out?

I'm assuming documentaries count?

I just watched the first Generation Iron (there is a 2nd one that recently came out) on Netflix. I'll give it a 2 of 10. Not much to it, the film follows and interviews a few bodybuilders that are competing for Mr Olympia. They pretty much talk about how great they are and there is a small, non informative part where steroids is hardly mentioned. I don't know what I was expecting but more than what it was. Sadly, I'll probably waste another 1 hr 45 mins tomorrow watching part 2. I'm committed at this point.

As far as sequels go, you have the Indiana Jones roller coaster of a series. Raiders great, Temple bad, Crusade the best of the bunch, Skull awful.

Felt the same. Good bad good bad.
I am just glad they did not go with Shia as Indy's son in another movie.

Last night...they were having a we love the 80's night, or it might be week, on the Sundance channel .

Watched Real Genius for the 100th (or so) time. Still love the movie even.

Followed that up with Lost Boys - Forgot how badarse K.Sutherland looked in the movie. Still never understood why the one boy (corey haim's character Sam) had a picture of Rob Lowe rubbing his abbs in his bedroom.
Grandfather character still funny. Mom Character still ugly (Weist, that hair of hers always looked bad to me). Forgot one truly terrible thing about it and it only makes it worse watching now after the twilight movies.
When the frog brothers kill the first vampire when they are hanging at the old motel, the vampire that was from bill and ted movies...when the vampires blood is all over them and they go out in the sunlight...the boys are all covered in vampire blood that is saturated with...GLITTER.

Now there's a guy who looked to have it made in Hollywood. A leading role in both the Transformers and Indiana Jones franchises and he managed to screw it all up so bad that virtually nobody will work with him.

Now, the only thing people hear of him is further embarrassment.

Yeah and what is strange is he was doing a pretty good job in most of his movies IMO (- the indy movie). But just went cuckoo cuckoo for coco puffs crazy.

Val Kilmer had a few signature roles, I think Real Genius was one, along with Tombstone.

I always think of William Atherton from that movie too. One of those guys who's entire career was based on playing "the jerk" in whatever movie he was in. Much like Paul Gleason (Breakfast Club Principal) and Christopher McDonald (Shooter McGavin).

It's a moral imperative to watch it when it comes on.

Yeah maybe. It's close.

Raid was primarily action, Raid 2 had a more developed story and characters. Plus it expanded the action to that phenomenal car chase.

From a hand to hand close quarter action though, I agree they are both up there. Though I don’t think anything tops the Rama-Assassin fight, particularly with that musical score.
