Agreed! I caught a Friday 3:15 pm matinee and there were only three people in the theater. And it was only a week into the movie's run!

Birds Of Prey is definitely a bomb but I even put those on a scale. There have been other movies that I would describe like so below that were worse by comparison in my opinion:

No doubt.

It's not what I would call an epic failure, but it is confirmation of what I thought when it was announced. Not enough of a film concept or characters to make people flock to the theaters. A niche audience not large enough to support such an endeavor.

Parasite: 8/10.

I thought it was really well done. I am usually not into foreign films. The symbolism is a little heavy handed, though. Definitely a thought provoking film. I'd say it won simply because 2019 was a pretty weak year for cinema. Same with 2017 when Moonlight won.

Knives Out
7.5/10
Overall nice plot but a few issues

One of my pet peeves is when the cops have a theory of the facts but no real evidence and the killer confesses

Throat slashing doesn’t say “suicide” and a master crime novelist should have thought of that.

Overall good entertaining movie

Tried to watch Knives Out the other night with the wife but fell asleep halfway through. For the part I stayed awake, I'd probably agree with Visionary above... 7-8/10. Since it's a "Who done it?" I am thankful they picked famous actors for just about every role to help me keep track.

Joker. For some reason, I guess I thought I was going into a Scorsese Taxi Driver flick. When we find out he is related to Bruce Wayne, goes to the Wayne mansion to get pissed on by Alfred, and then at the end when he is leading his clown posse, all it made me want to do was see another one of those awesome Christopher Nolan Batman films! What a bummer.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. How can you not love a film where Brad Pitt's character kicks the crap out of those annoying crazy pansy Charles Manson hippies?

The Irishman. I'll try it again, but boy do Pesci and DeNiro look weird with that youthful CGI.

Yeah, my mother watches those Friday night shows, like Hawaii Five-0, where they just make threats and spew theories, and the suspect tells the whole story of why he did it and how.

I don't think you paid enough attention. He wasn't related to Bruce Wayne. He gets the files at Arkham and discovers that his crazy mom made it up, and in fact, isn't even his biological mom. Half of the movie is in his head, as well.

This movie was basically The King of Comedy and Taxi Driver combined. Glad DeNiro was in it, as it was a direct homage.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
4/10

The cinematography etc was fantastic, the rest of the movie was total trash. There wasn't one character in the whole movie that was remotely likable to me. The whole movie felt forced and lazy.

Disney has destroyed Star Wars!

How’d Margot Robbie look though?

Shot Caller - Guy who Played Jamie Lannister was the main character.
This is kind of like Breaking Bad.
Main character was a good guy, made the mistake of drinking/driving and killed a friend in the car. Prosecutor made a deal to only spend so many years in prison. Once inside he had to make the decision to do what it takes to survive. And with that decision he gets into a whole different world.

Movie is good. They switch between him before going to prison, while in prison and outside of prison so it keeps the story going.

That always drives me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course, I saw it happen in real life, w/ a more minor crime.

Dude came driving down my sister's road. Stopped because his car was "shaking"(think gravel road!!!) and got out and started walking toward her house. Walked in like it was nothing and sat around. My niece was having a little party w/ maybe 15-20 teenagers there. They called in the parents from outside. Meanwhile, the dude had taken off walking back to his car. Here's where I come in!!!

The wifey n I were coming back from town, and saw his car, and stopped to check it out. I was watching from the bushes(I know, kinky, right!!!) Just then he comes walking back to the car, followed by my brother in law in his truck, w/ a gun.

He blocked the roadway w/ his truck, and a bit later cops showed up.

As they questioned this dude, looking for reasons, out of the blue the guy states: "I have pot in my car."

You could tell the cops were incredulous!!!! They now had reason to search the car and take him in, beyond any doubt!!! Maybe they did before already, don't know!!!!!!

How High 2 - Terrible. Enjoyed the first one even though it was low budget and cheesy...second just did not have it IMO.

The Two Popes - 8/10 - The story of the Pope replacement after the death of Pope John Paul II. Both Anthony Hopkins (Pope Benedict XVI) and Jonathan Pryce (Pope Francis) nailed their roles in this film. While religion is a central setting of the movie, it is more about the differences of the two men and the life journey of Pope Francis. The witty banter between the polar opposites is quite entertaining.

I enjoyed that film too. I wish we had more of that type of compromise in the world that those two Popes did.

Looks like this will be the last week of movies until at least May. I went last night and have 3 scheduled thru Monday.

There's always On Demand.
Yeah, I have plenty of things to watch at home. Just nothing new at the theaters. The only thing not moved before Black Widow in May, is Trolls I think.

Saw The Way Back (not bad) on Thursday. Bloodshot (mindless action - just like the trailer) last night. Tonight is I Still Believe, and Monday is The Hunt.
