Oh, now I know what you meant. As you said, we already knew what happened. I guess I was replying as if we weren't talking about the movie, but Montanalo's experience. Sorry about that.
Had mixed feelings about this one. Definitely had some pacing issues, but also had a few things going for it. A few neat disturbing scenes that I enjoyed. Should have been faster paced in places. Needed a little more to tie the main & sub plots together.
Haven’t watched a lot of new movies lately. The time I have for viewing, I use for TV because I honestly enjoy it more these days with so many good choices on the streaming networks.
Some stuff I’ve re-watched on the plane trips these days:
— Edge of Tomorrow, Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt — 9/10. Just a damn good sci-fi thriller. I don’t care where you put it, that Groundhog Day Concept never gets old. I can see why Marvel tried to hire Emily Blunt first as Black Widow. She is great.
— Spider-Man, Newest One (I forget what they are called) - 9/10. Another great Spidey movie. Just awesome watching all the original characters come back. It’s fan service, but sometimes that makes for a great movie. Marvel beat DC to the punch here. DC could have made a Batman movie just like this. Forgot how sad the ending was too. Ironic that with Marvel being the 60’s comic company, they still keep Spidey innocent and not a murderer, unlike Superman. LOL
— 42. 10/10. Another Chadwick Boseman classic. He does such a great job capturing the personality of #42 from all I’ve read about the man’s true accounts. The only baseball I enjoy is classic baseball, and this is a terrific tribute to Jackie Robinson and those lovable bums in Brooklyn, my favorite baseball team of all-time. Damn Yankees!
— The Last Samurai. 7/10. I remember this movie as being somewhat cheesy like The Patriot with Mel Gibson. Sometimes these historical epics get too Hollywood and you can just feel the cheese from all the plot decisions. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood the first time I tried to watch this, but enjoyed it much more this time. And it’s obvious Hollywood took control of the plot, but it’s still awesome watching Tom Cruise go Samurai Sword on everyone.
Samaritan on Amazon Prime with Stallone. Pretty much as expected but also not terrible. Also has the guy that played Euron Greyjoy and even though I didn't really like his role on GOT, he seems a competent actor.
There were some obvious rips from other movies. Equalizer comes to mind. Universal Soldier was another it noticeably ripped from, intentional or not. There's a scene very similar to one in the first Venom movie.
I'd probably go with just above a 4, and closing in on 5 out of 10.
Interesting. My wife and I started this movie. I stopped watching about a 1/3 of the way through. It was just too chaotic for me. Based on what you're saying though I'll have to think about giving it another go.

Yet another movie where the trailer preview made it look far more better than what it was,..
This type of film, style, pace is not for everybody ...and it certainly wasn't for me.
i expected a unusual bizarre movie, per Jordan Peele and his trending history,.. ala " Get Out" and " Us "
but the way this movie started out and remain soooo very slow for most of the duration.
I can understand a plot and character build up, ..but ( Yawn ) this was ridiculous.
Whatever plot and build up was being executed, and for what was eventually revealed, into it's climatic finish . it just wasn't hitting home with interest with me.
Starring Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer, and guest appearance from Steve Yuen (formerly Glen from Walking Dead series)
but quite simply, i found " NOPE" to be quite boring and uninspiring, it became one of those films where i could not wait for it to be over,
because it's drag pace and so what CGI special effects, character development and action sequences were ...well , just that ..So What !
Spoiler alert - it was basically about an invading Sci-fi UFO space ship .that coincidentally ends up in a local farm community .. nuthin was ever reveal about it's origin, the extraterrestrial masters handling the spaceship. .and why it was on it's cocoon human crusade, ..
The proximity of having to form a team group to be able to " film-record ' the UFO to produce a historical documentary ? [/spoilr]
i loved " Get Out" .. " Us " i thought it was Meh, .OK ... but " Nope " !! ... i did not like Nope the movie ..
I agree. I think they were going for a fun, campy movie, but in my opinion missed the mark. Felt like a big mess. Jokes fell flat. It will be a movie I forget even existed, yet it wouldn't surprise me if it got sequalized because the movie business is weird.

I liked it. I didn't enjoy it near as much as Get Out, which was great. Us just confused me and I didn't like it. Peel's Twilight Zone series is entertaining.
Nothing has to be made about it's origin in order for it to be good or not. There wasn't anything about the origin in Alien or Predator and both those turned out alright. The documentary part was a stretch and the whole chimp/TV series thing seemed forced and unimportant, but there were some good things. It isn't a must see in the theater, but I recommend it
