In honor of one of my most beloved movies, chock full of GREAT dialogue, here is one of my favorite quotes:

Performed so SO well by the late Donald Moffat.
Yep, the best line in the movie and one of the funniest, unintentionally funny lines ever! Perfectly delivered and perfectly timed, that entire situation, that was at the peak of the paranoia and gave the audience just that brief moment to finally take a breathe.

This one still makes me laugh too......

"The Descent" (2005)

I've seen it a few times over the years... Watched it again tonight.

If a film student needed to study the perfect horror film– This film would be a great choice!

Certainly one of the top horror films of the 21st century.

Has everything, good acting, interesting plot, some decent gore, jump-scares and a great in-movie twist.

7.5/10

As I stated before, I'm not a big Elvis fan, but I thought Elvis was a good movie, it was more focused on how he was getting screwed by Col. Parker, which gave it a totally different perspective imo, Tom Hanks played a great role, and the real footage at the end really summed it up.

I caught "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker", or whatever the heck they called it for the first time yesterday. I don't know how I missed it in the past but I was lucky. Anyway, my reaction throughout the movie was mostly, "what the hell is this crap I am watching?" What an awful movie full of awful nonsense, awful dialogue, and awful acting. My second question was how could anyone take such a successful concept and ruin it like this? This was followed by the thought, "Oh, a group of middle school kids thought this up!".

There was so much good about the original Star Wars movie. These later movies take that good stuff to the extreme and it easily becomes ridiculous nonsense. It's like an Allman Brothers concert where they play Jessica for 3 minutes then going into a guitar jam for 25 minutes. It really feels like they made this story up as they went along.

If the Force could be used to heal wounds and bring people back from the dead then why did anyone have to die in all the previous movies? I don't know but this is the kind of garbage we find in the new Star Wars. And if the powers of these new characters is so strong, then what about Yoda, and Obi-wan? Were they chopped liver?

Frankly, it's the same formula for every movie. Things get so bad, all is surely lost... till the very last second when something so absurd, but so heroic, happens to save the day! Yay! I suppose this works on the 6 - 8 year old crowd but after that, we need to the realism of Grand Theft Auto to bring us back to what death is really all about.

I can't rate this movie more than a 2. Mostly because I have to make sure there is a spot below 2 for Orca the Killer Whale. I think I am done with Star Wars now. All the good characters are gone and have been replaced by symbols of modern society that have nothing to do with the time or place of the Star Wars mythology.

13 Lives: What an intense movie. I found myself wishing it would end, just to end the tension.

8.5/10

Little known fact: I participated with a group of divers, medical professionals, and other specialists in conducting a post-mortem risk assessment of the rescue.

We didn't investigate the how or why the kids became stranded in the cave. Rather, we looked at what went well with the rescue, what didn't go well and what would we do differently in the future. I had a very, very small part. I understand the full report has not been releases outside the technical diving community.

That was exceptional because I knew the outcome and was still full of nervous tension and it was no coincidence that exactly the right people to solve the unsolvable problem showed up.

While it was slow moving, it did not seem like it because it pulled me in and wouldn't let me go from the beginning.

"The 33" was like this only it was more focused on the people involved than the actual rescue but it was tense and good as well.

"The 33" also could focus on those trapped and their circumstances better than "13 Lives" because they were adults. I also stopped questioning the toughness of soccer players because those were damned tough kids.
