Have not watched it in years. I still like it as much as I did when I first saw it.

Pain & Gain 6/10 (currently on Netflix streaming)

Just when I get done trashing Michael Bay as a director, I see this movie which I actually liked. It's not a great film, but it is entertaining, humorous, and a true (albeit unbelievable) story

That's kind of funny. I was in the middle of replying to your quote about Michael Bay above, but got sidetracked.

And I was going to mention Pain & Gain. I still don't think he's a great director either, but I feel like this is the type of movie where his style works.

Oblivion (Tom Cruise)

7.7 out of 10

Liked this film.

Can't make this up department: I had DVR'd this on HBO months ago. Yesterday I decided to finally watch it. As I live and breath, just when it finished, and I was watching the credits start to roll, I get an email. From Netflix. Telling me my next film in my queue is on the way. Yep. Oblivion. Unreal. And actually considering the content of Oblivion... well done, universe. Well done.

Sanctum

I normally like films of this type, trapped underground, fighting for your lives type thing. Think "Descent". But this? What utter crap. What minimal conversation that is even understandable, every other word is an F-bomb. Let's yell the entire film! Even better! Let's really mess with the audience, DARING them to pick out any conversation, with the following formula:

1. British accents
2. Deep cave system (echo echo echo)
3. Rushing water drowning out (no pun intended) the voices
4. REALLY LOUD background music

Just. Wow. And let's make the "expert" diver/explorer/leader guy a major league a-hole, yelling most of the film and being completely overbearing.

Saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes today, really enjoyed it. The story, visual effects and action were all done really well. One of the best movies I've seen in a while.

Man On a Ledge

Hmm. Let's take "The Negotiator" overall plot (cop doing something drastic to prove his innocence and put the blame on an insider) re-work it a little bit, hire b-grade actors, put in some fairly bad editing, throw it against the screen and see what sticks. This is the result.

Edge of Tomorrow was a very solid movie, I thought it was pretty good. 8.5/10

Been in a movie watching mood so I'll probably watch Jump Street 22, Transformers, and the new planet of the apes next.

CHILLER Fare - The Signal (2007)

Well, it's a CHILLER film. So, it gets CHILLER ratings. That is, for being a b-grade movie and entertaining. This one was definitely that! Horror, not so much, really. But it was like a dark comedy horror flick. Had some twists. Kept the crowd really into it. I liked what they did with this.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (new)

Wow. Put everything down RIGHT NOW and go watch this. GO! The only complaint I have at all about this film is something towards the end but I don't want to give any spoilers. This film was so well done, I can't say enough. The acting, the editing, the direction, the CGI / X effects, not too long...the pacing...never lost interest... I saw it in 3D and I am gonna deduct a bit for that. It's "okay" in 3D but that was not necessary for this film (IMHO). Gonna deduct a bit also for how the opening sequence never was explained to the apes rising in intelligence. I'll leave that at that too.

They explained that in the first one...the drugs James Franco was using Caesar gave to the other apes and it gets passed down to the offspring.
