Is that the one with Charlie Sheen? If so, I remember liking it back then. Probably wouldn't now...

Hilarious. I think Bradley Cooper's voiceover was perfect. He really captured Rocket's character and his lines were pretty good. Dave Bautista's Drax seemed a bit forced (Mr. Thesaurus, ha!). Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana played Star Lord and Gamora well, although I believe Michael Rooker as Youdu may have been perfectly casted. Probably anyone could have done the voiceover for Groot. Vin Diesel lucked out for the part. The CGI crew should get more credit than him for making the character very enjoyable. Ronan was okay. I thought the director powered him down somewhat for the film (his personal Kree power that is before someone gets onto me about this artificially enhanced power :) ).

Anyhoo part 1: I'm glad Marvel is pushing along the Thanos underlining plot in its movies. Anyhoo part 2: Wonder if Marvel will eventually get around to introducing Nova on the big screen since the Xandarians played a central role in this movie? Anyhoo part 2 and 2/3: I really wish Marvel had not killed off its original Captain Marvel character years ago. He would fit in perfectly after the introduction of the Kree into the films.

Watched Guardians of The Galaxy yesterday. 8.5/10. Had some really funny parts and really good action. They pulled off being a bit campy as well. Definitely worth watching.

Trivia time! Below are 1st issue covers from the earlier and re-created (which the movie is based upon) G.O.T.G. titles. I have the earlier issue in my collection.

More trivia: In my opinion, Captain Marvel was one of the best characters (and uniform) ever created in comics, welder of the Nega-Bands...

Hercules

I like how they took the twelve challenges of Hercules and wove them into the film. I LOVED how he was a mercenary, with a crew that strongly resembled the core group of, say, Lord of the Rings, complete with the chick with bow and magic-quiver-that-never-runs-out-of-arrows lol. And I REALLY loved how they took the legend of Hercules and it being said he is the son of Zeus and used that to drive the film, leaving the ending with the viewer asking the exact same question as was voiced by the oracle guy in the group, "Does it matter?" (whether or not he really was a demi god). Great action throughout with excellent fight scenes. Thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable film.

8.5 out of 10

Friday Report: 'Guardians' Stuns with $37.8 Million Opening Day
by Ray Subers

Guardians of the Galaxy

August 2, 2014

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy opened to a fantastic $37.8 million on Friday. Remarkably, that's more than recent Marvel sequels Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Thor: The Dark World earned on their first days out.

Among the biggest 2014 releases, Guardians wound up a bit behind Transformers: Age of Extinction and Godzilla. More so than for those movies, the Guardians audience rushed out on Thursday night: nearly 30 percent of the Friday gross was earned on the previous day.

Weekend Projections
1. Guardians of the Galaxy - $95 million
2. Lucy - $18 million
3. Get on Up - $15 million
4. Hercules - $10.3 million
5. Dawn/Apes - $8.4 million

Guardians of the galaxy: 10/10 for me

I can't think of anything negative for this film. Awesome, awesome movie that's fun, funny with heart. Straightforward, make sense plot in a well-built cosmic playground. Casting was great, visuals were great, pacing... Same thing.

Guardians of the Galaxy - 7/10. A little disappointed. It wasn't as funny as I expected, and I thought the pacing of the first half was pretty terrible. It felt rushed jumping all over the place to different locations. No room for the movie to breathe. Thankfully the second half slowed things down a bit and the story started to get fleshed out some. Overall it was a fairly entertaining movie, just not a great one.

3 Days to Kill: Seeing Amber Heard sans makeup on Blue Ray at the beginning of the movie ruined it. Well it kind of sucked anyway. 5/10

Captain America - Winter Soldier
6/10

It was really hard for me to get into this one--thought the beginning was very generic and kind of cheesy. It got better once the antagonist received more screen-time, but overall I thought in underwhelmed.

Wow no way. I think TWS is the best of the Marvel Avenger movies.

Vin Diesel almost perms toy buried his acting career after XXX.

If not for the "car" movies he was so done.

Now, I hear due to his fame longevity in the cars movies that they want to make another XXX3.

I am a fan. I am in.
He was very good in Boiler Room.

Can't see how any movie can get a 10/10 when a major feature is a Raccoon with a gun. lol.

Ya, the original Captain Marvel I like. As for this...nothing original.
