Elysium (Matt Damon, Jodie Foster)

Well. Kind of entertaining, had the sacrifice angle going, had some decent exo-skeleton ramped-up fights, but oh my goodness talk about a blatant nanny state socialism pipe dream that could never be advertisement from typical hollywood! Geez.

Magic in the Moonlight. I am a fan of Woody Allen, hit or misses. This might have been a misstep.... says way too little considering the underlining outcome.
But Woody is such a prolific filmmaker, I'm sure he will come back strong. 6/10
On a nerd sidenote... film (the medium) is more beautiful than ever, this film showcased that.... sadly we are in the digital age..... less analog film, more digital mediums and CGI

"Thirst"

Made in 2010.

A Canadian made thriller featuring a pair of couples that get stranded in the desert with limited resources.

A good flick. It was more entertaining than I originally thought that it would be. Decent acting. Good plot.

7/10

"A Single Shot"

Made in 2013

A good film with some name actors in it.

A crime/thriller type of film.

Basically the story of a back-words, down on his luck middle-aged guy who accidently shoots and kills a young woman while out poaching for deer. While trying to hide the body he comes across $100,000 in drug money (in which she was connected too). The bad guys want their money back.

7/10

Calvary....... Filmed in Ireland, a strong watch, well crafted, great dialog.... a mystery/drama with many humorous moments while touching on a taboo subject........ Calvary leans heavily on a strong understanding of mise en scene by the director. Never a wasted breath, or transition. So may easter eggs of symbolism (pun intended,.... when you see it), and many strong performances. 8/10 will get nominated for best foreign film during Oscar season.

Oh, and game of thrones fans! Lord Baelish is one of the suspects!!!! hahaha!

American Hustle.

Good acting job but frankly I found it verrrrrry overrated

What! Man..... Jennifer lawrence was a "fire starter" they showed that in the first scene they introduced her, and she continuously set 'fires' though out the film... and the primary colors they used for her were red & yellow

Amy Adams walked out the dry cleaners at the beginning of the the first act, became someone else and never broke that character until the end of the third act... even telling bradley cooper "lets be real" in the club in her english accent....

The camera pans around to isolate bradley cooper and the agent at the table when when rob dinero said at the meeting "I know some of us are real and some of us aint"

Jennifer lawrence kisses amy adams, tells her "you and i are the same" the stedicam pans around and shows amy adams looking in the mirror.. (yeah, we are the same at this point...reflecting)

Christian complains about his "girlfriends" that he has to keep in place.... cut to Bradley cooper with rollers in his head....

Man.... this movie had a lot of great connections..... very good movie.... yeh I'm a nerd.... I always bug out when people say 'overrated' :D

Saw Guardians of the Galaxy on Saturday and really enjoyed it. It was funny and entertaining from beginning to end. (8.5/10)

Watched American Hustle on Sunday and thought it was absolute, overrated crap. Despite having and all-star cast, the story was weak and the movie was unenjoyable. It "looked cool" with the whole 70's thing /style, but I found myself just wanting the movie to end about halfway through. (4/10)

Sorry...it was slow and boring. If not for the eye candy and acting I would not have made it through half of it.

I felt it necessary to clarify my Like was for the Guardians comment. I haven't seen Hustle to form an opinion yet.
