I am sorry that I don't have the splits for the entire NCAA per quarter but that doesn't mean that its a bad benchmark.
All I am saying is that 4 YPC is not a good bench mark for college runners. its not even a good bench mark in the pros anymore seeing that 4.5 YPC would have ranked you 20th in the NFL.
In the NCAA Div 1, 5 YPC would rank you 90th in the nation. I don't see that as being a bad mendoza line.
I don't think its out of line to say that he was below average in the second quarter and bad in the fourth. 3.6 YPC is bad any way you want to look at it.
As for McFadden, if you mean by gimmick that every team was loading up to stop him with an SEC defense and he had no QB or passing game then you have a point.
Ray Rice had a 3000 yard passer and 2 1000 yard receivers helping him.
That being said he showed up in big games. Putting up 120+ yards against UWV, USF, Louisville and Ball State for his bowl game.
