Ray Sherman not returning

At least they let him know now while there still several new head coaching positions opens so he can either interview or land a spot on their staff. Sorta doing the right thing by him to let him know early, rather than later when there aren't a lot of opens for him.

Just an opinion.

Enter the Garrett era.
I like Sherman, but I like Garrett more for putting his stamp on this team.
No mixed messages or messengers.
Campo's next, RHG.

:hammer:

I'd like to see him build his own staff and prune off the old Jerry's boys.

It could simply be that these two good men after working together for 4 years, mutually decided they didn't want to work together anymore.

inneresting. my first though was that David Lee was going to bring his guy ... the former UCLA head coach with him

I'd have to assume RSherman wanted to move on. I can't imagine Jerry and Jason not wanting him back

The report said that "Sherman was told by the Cowboys, they would not be renewing his contract".

So it doesn't sound like he wanted to go anywhere.

I was one of the biggest anti-Red as HC guys on here and I really liked Sherman, but c'mon people. All our eggs were put into one Red basket, so we need to let that basket choose his own subordinates without railing on him.

What's done is done, and now Red will succeed or fail making his own choices. We just have to hope he isn't another Josh McDaniels who blew up the Broncos and never rebuilt it again.

Depending on the accuracy of the "report" of course.

Gotta believe he's not gonna try to trade Romo and Dez.

Sherman said it himself.

This will look real bad if Campo, Huock and Paul P retain their positions...In that, Garrett's retaining his buddies (even if they suck at their job) but dumping the people he doesn't like (who are good at their jobs)

That said, Garrett is the head coach now and should definitely be making his own staff. If he doesn't like the guy, he doesn't like him--and it's better that he leaves. I'm just shocked cause Sherman was one of our good coaches and meant alot to this team.

If coaches worried about looking bad regarding their decisions they wouldn't be long for the NFL. They wouldn't rely on the opinions of ignorant fans either. It's been what just a few days since Garrett was announced head coach and we fans know which assistant coach was better or not?

I don't think Garrett would be that stupid to cut a wr coach based on fan or media hype that he was so amazingly vital and had no peers. There is a good possibility Sherman didn't want to remain wide receiver coach and is using the HC interview as a springboard.

Who knows, who cares because it will all come out to light eventually on Sherman and other coaches, therefore I trust we will acquire some great replacements. Meanwhile carry on with acting out, little children.

Let's see what has Sherman done?
Austin - good last year then dropped off.

Dez still didn't know his whole playbook when he was injured. You could see the QBs having to direct him on quite a few snaps.

Roy - never was a factor except for 5 games this year.

Hurd, Holley, Johnson, etc. - haven't broken through.

Jerry's brought in big talent but Ray has served more as a counseor than as a guy getting the players to take it to the next level.

I'll trust Garrett. Maybe the next Todd Haley is out there. I'd love if Garrett tried to bring Irvin in for WR coach because of his work ethic and precise route running. But I don't think Irvin would be able to separate the difference between boss and friend when him and Garrett disagree.

Austin was a friggin undrafted FA that Sherman helped groom into a top 5 NFL Pro Bowl WR last year.

Dez was in his injury shortened rookie season and already showed signs greatness and demanded double teams.

Holley had to win a game show to even get a shot on this team, and Manny Johnson was picked in the final round of the draft.

Garrett fired Sherman. Good!

This means Garrett has balls and knows who he wants and who he doesn't want.

Anyone who thinks a freaking position coach is going to make or break this team is D E L U S I O N A L.

The entire culture of the team needs to change. So I'm glad there's change going on.

I'll take that over Ray Sherman any day of the week and twice on Tuesday.

Charlie Baggett? Maybe.........:look:
Wow, good call. Heard this name from someone else.

Not saying he is the guy, just that he is a possibility.

DMN cites him in the article about Sherman leaving tonight.

I always liked Sherman, and thought he seemed to have a good relationship with the receivers. Thought he was a very good coach and I will miss having him around. Not to mention i just thoguth he seemed like a cool cat. Preciate the work Sherm.
