He fits the front office mantra.

- Draft well
- Do not sign any free agent above vet minimum
- Only trade for vets near the end of their contract

If they bring in another vet, it’ll be a vet min JAG type. It won’t be a guy like Hunt or Fournette.
Unfortunately, you are correct.

yeah but this really hurts his chances of making the team it really does mean why even be on the team if you're not gonna be here the first two games? There are other veterans that fit that description lots of them out on the street right now that can be picked up before game one... How can you trust the guy what if he comes back off the PED thing and then it happens again before the end of the year I mean they test these guys I don't know how often but he's gonna be on people's radar now much like like Laell Collins the more you get red flag the more they test...
I’m with you Blue.

I was one of the few Jones supporters who thought he could help. Plenty of bodies out there that can do this and not miss two games.

Davis is the 2 anyway. Two games ain’t much but I had him penciled out of my 53.

RB1: Pollard
RB2: Davis
RB3: Vaughn

Dowdle has been valuable as a ST and has juice, he’s just rarely healthy. Is Luepke really competing with McKeon for FB vs TE4?

Jones to me only made the roster if A) he exhibited Tampa Bay RJ form or B) he could at least be a steady vet in the event that none of the younger guys could take the spot. With the suspension though, he seems like a prime PS candidate.
Man our RB group is depressing. They really screwed this up like they did the WR's last season.

So since Jones is suspended, does that mean he will not count as a roster spot? At least until he can return and they can decide what to do with the player that takes his place for those 2 weeks.

Fournette isn't in shape.

I really don’t think so. There are hundreds of capable runners. Odds are one of these guys can take 8-10 carries a game and be fine.

I guess in the case of injury we could worry, but there are so many average vets out there finding someone to give you 4 YPC is really not hard at all these days.

No one was this concerned about the RB position last year and their superstar ended up killing them! And there’s still fan’s clamoring for an overpaid, aging vet. Really doesn’t hurt at this point to see Jones in preseason! Right now Davis has the upper hand and has to take full advantage of the opportunity. We’ll see how Dowdle, Luepke and Vaughn do as well. A lot of young players here!

I disagree the position group is so different the dynamics to what happened with those receivers and not being on the same page in Kellen Moore's offense and needing to be In Sync with the quarterback it's much different dude the running back position come on it's a whole different animal and if you look around the NFL it's already been proven that you can have a running back by committee and not really lose much compared to saying have one big name bell cow.

So let's not try to make a comparison I don't think it has the same impact.. Besides the fact that everyone was so high on Tony Pollard now what he's the number one running back and now everyone's worried I mean this guy's had every bit as good as season splitting carries as Christian McCaffrey or say Sanders with the Eagles go look at their stats this says that we have our main back and then if you run in the rest of the guys as a running back by committee group I don't see it as depressing at all I like that we went younger less expensive and that we're moving forward with a different philosophy at running back no longer one guy three down back..

I agree trying to compare wide receivers to running backs is off base..

Zeke didn't kill us. A horrid o-line....and stupid coaches killed us.

So Dak gets excuses on o-line blocking but not zeke...right? And no Pollard had little more success than Zeke...Pollard was able to "showcase his speed to the edge" to disguise those issues.

Even at san fran tony had one more yard per carry than zeke. Better...but not much. That includes one 10 yard run.

And yes...I know Tony can break one off any moment. He hadn't yet.

Our run game floundered through the whole last part of the season. ALL of it not just an injured zeke.

Nope, Joseph is not solid. Ball is not solid.
Ugh Joseph. Why bring that tool into this? lol. What a bad pick with Creed Humphrey sitting there. Not that anyone knew what he would be but man would our line look good with him

You can make all the excuses you want. I’m sure he’ll remain injury free from here on out. If you refuse to see the overvalue and misuse because of it, that’s on you. Everything that happened to Zeke over the past 3 seasons was because the front office were still buying the feed me shtick! And 1 YPC is a lot. Pollard over the past few seasons should’ve been getting more work, and it probably preserves Zeke for games like SF. So absolutely the superstar treatment had a trickle down effect from too heavy a workload in his 7 seasons here.

Right, it is a worse situation than the WR's were.
I hope I am wrong, but I am very concerned Pollard carrying the load. I want him to. Even though a few on here do not believe that. But I don't care what they think. But am pointing it put, because they are already setting up excuses as to Pollard and / or Dak failures.

Anyway, I am concerned until I see it on the field and hope I am wrong.

No, I disagree like a lot of others this is not even close to the same comparison

it's not worse,

the running back position is a lot easier to replace and a lot easier to be running back by committee there's less moving pieces.. Pollard's not carrying the load, he just will be the main guy, that's what they call running back by committee. They will utilize a lot more then two players this year for running back they probably use 4,

it won't be a situation where Malik Davis doesn't get a carry in the second-half which he should have of that 49er game if you think it could be worse you may not have been watching last year but to end the year we weren't very good with the ones that we had now we have more options they're not going to force the ball to Zeke and not even give another player a shot to carry the football. I still wonder what a fresh legged very inspired Malik Davis might have done in that second half you just never know.
