What's really amazing, but shouldn't be considering (read between the lines), but what is amazing is that they still sell my truck on some sites. I paid $139. It's now selling for $339. That's insane!

Also, my C189 md500 (my avatar), took a hit in a minor crash. The cost of replacing all the parts is almost as much as the cost of the heli. So I bought a new one. Then I bought a small XK 110s for the heck of it.

Great thread, guys! I've been flying RC since 1990. Don't get to fly all that much anymore as I'm a father of three! Waiting for them to get of age so I can get them on the simulator!

Here's a couple of my planes.

35% Pilot Yak 54 - DLE 111 gasser. Going on 14 years old.

Sick planes!!! Everyone keeps saying I’m going to really love how this Yak flys. The elevators are bigger than my buddies sky wing 540 V3 104”

I’m getting ready to cut the cowling for the engine and I can’t figure out the best method I don’t like any of the options because I can’t get a straight measurement without rigging up something and attaching it to the fuse and I only have one shot at this. Stressful lol

Good luck! It's tough to dremel it perfectly without making a template with precise measurements.

I’ve measured this thing 5 different ways I still don’t feel confident enough to cut it. I think I’m gonna have to call in some reinforcements lol. Thing is I build props/sets, but this? This is makes me nervous.

Still haven’t cut it lol. I’m building sets tomorrow, but I’m too chicken to cut this cowling haha.

The good news is you shouldn't have to cut much as the Yak's cowling is so much more forgiving with it being round.

Is it your mufflers that are causing the issue? Spark plugs?

The Yak called for a Da50 but I ended up putting a DLE55 on it, but the cowling is a bit short since the DLE has a longer output shaft. Well I had to lower the DLE a bit to clear the muffler which lowered the Head. So I have to cut the head square first and then measure and cut the muffler.

So, Redbull plane is now ready for its maiden flight. Got the right prop, 2 new micro servos 21Gs each with 25T arms and custom made links. Had to stiffen up the rear of the fuse where the servos mount, but this thing should be a blast to fly.

Update on the Yak, I finally finished the Ailero servos and started running fuel and smoke pump line. I did make a few changes in how I ran the servo wires to clean it up since this is a bit older aircraft and doesn’t have all the cool pathways the Skywing and Extreme flight planes have. I used large light weight shrink tube and glued those inside the wing gunnels and ran the servo wires through them. Waiting on another batch of parts that should be here this week.

I'm changing the lighting on my FW450. I like the lights but they were small. The new ones are bigger and have 8 lights instead of 5. I'll post a video as soon as they're done.

Recently bought a Traxxas Stampede 4x4 BL S2. The VXL version has a better motor and speed controller but for what I use it for, I didn't need to spend the extra money. Bad enough I spent what I did. But I also have new shocks and put the new headlight/tail light bumpers on it as well. Changed the pinion gear from 10 to 13 but it made an awful cogging or grinding sound when I hammered on the trigger at a dead start, so I put the original one back in. I'll add that in the video as well.

Bought the XK 110s but broke the main gear with a hard landing. Got an RC Era C186 coming on Wednesday for indoor use. Been really windy lately. Spring is always windy.

Well, today I got the redbull plane out. I finished programming it yesterday and installed the new servos.

I almost lost the plane, right after takeoff I increased throttle and it started doing this up down, up down thing and it was uncontrollable. I was able to get it back thankfully, and went to testing everything from scratch. I did a range test and found that that my signal dropped to 5%! So, I started the process of elimination and started at the ESC. I took a fully charged 4s 2200 MAh lipo put the plane up against the testing post and started setting throttle positions. 25% good, 50% good, 75% good, 100% goo…. oh there’s a problem! The ESC went into some weird protection mode and reduced throttle. So, I reprogrammed the ESC and repeated the steps and got the same result. So the ESC is bad, and what I think happened is when the ESC went into protection it cut power to the RX and every time I pulled the throttle back to get the plane under control I’d get some control back because it went out of protection mode and started to supply the right volts/amps to the RX. So I upgraded the ESC to a 50 amp and it should be here in a day or 2 and we will get it a shot again.
