Re-watched the Tampa Game-thoughts/opinions

So basically you're giving Ferguson an excuse that the ball that hit him in the facemask was too difficult to catch while holding the QB to the standard of having to place a ball perfectly because the supporting cast is so bad. Ok then.

In the words of Dennis Reynolds, "these are the theories of lunatics!"
lol

Offense

-Something was off with Dak. His accuracy was all over the place, majority of his throws were high. He usually feasts when teams blitz them, but struggled throughout the night. Footwork was also terrible.
-Tampa corners were sitting on the underneath routes, dared the Cowboys to beat them over the top.
-Both interceptions were on fastballs where it bounced off both Ferguson and Flournoy.
-Run game struggled throughout the game.
-Schott's decision to go for 2, made zero sense. You also play for the tie at home.

Defense

-Outside of 1st drive, thought the defense is the 1st half wasn't bad. That 1st drive they could of gotten off the field multiple times, several penalties kept the drive going.
-2nd Half the wheels came off and that snowball affect started where they couldn't stop the momentum. 1st the long run to start the half was poor tackling, they should of stopped the run early on. The huge pass on the next drive was due to Bland falling, he is healthy? This is unacceptable. Then you have the Turpin fumble.
-Giving up that 3rd and 20 plus was a back breaker. We have seen CP play soft zone in the same situation with the same results. However, when they do blitz, they never hit home.
-Downs is a far better player inside the box then as a roof safety. Unfortunately they are mash unit at the safety position.
-I see a defense that is very finesse, struggle to take on blocks, pass rushers look like they quit after they get stopped after the 1st move, tackling in space is a problem. Just not a physical team, which has to be addressed at some point
-The outside runs have been an issue for this defense for years, inconsistent of setting an edge.
-I do think some players started to quit as the game got out of hand.

Couple of my opinions-something isn't right with Bland, is it confidence/injury? He looks like Diggs from last season. Think they need another physical linebacker next to Barham. Downs needs to play inside the box as that is where his strength is. Front office is going to have to get help for this pass rush, outside of Lawrence who flashes.
Look it doesn't matter i'm sorry we can argue about this till you're blue in the face It is your job to catch the balls I don't care if they're slightly high but if you don't have to jump or dive which we've seen some great catches remember OBJ remember all these top 10 catches they come from poorly thrown balls ridiculously poorly thrown balls these balls were catchable I don't care if they were too fast these dudes are paid to catch the ball When one goes through your hands and hits your helmet , Its more than catchable this is the Lions game all over again..

Yes he was under pressure all night with the blitz they couldn't block well that's the problem you do get a little more happy feet but he put those balls in a place where plays can be made on them and I hate to break it to you that's a lot of quarterbacks in the NFL yes he was rushed he was feeling the pressure where was the run game under like 3.2 yards per carry we were one dimensional with no defense no special teams and the blitz was getting through too easily so yes he was throwing the ball a little soon a little harder That doesn't mean you should coddle these dudes they are paid just like him if the ball hit you in the hands you better catch it or you better make sure it doesn't bounce up in the air you better knock it down like a Hail Mary neither one of them had to leave their feet or die for it it hit them in a catchable area..

So if you want to argue about this all day let's argue about it I get it they were not perfect but since when does an NFL caliber receiver or tight end need a perfectly thrown ball to do their damn job..

This guy was under pressure so yes he did his job he got the ball out and he hit his targets in the hands and then let's talk about turpins turnover Yeah come on let's do it/

Now 75% of the world media and fans ex coaches and current coaches agreed with going for two it is analytically correct because you'd be trying to do it when everyone obviously think you're gonna do it if that is if they scored again they took the opportunity why they had it and lots of coaches do it..

Don't care if the defense made some stops they still poop their pants they sharded it all over the place just like normal and this time the offense deserves an off game to win a game where they don't have to score 20 points that would be nice but it didn't happen They once again would have had to score close to 30 to win this game So again I like that you took the time to analyze all that but it still comes down to this the defense and special teams and the mistakes lost this game and Prescott did not have his normal accurate game but he's allowed to be off sometimes and maybe some others should do their job and step up not have things just kind of softly thrown into your pillow hands maybe you should catch the damn ball ferguson does this all the time and he fumbles all the time and you're giving him an excuse nobody gets off the hook..

So..how good is dak really?

Not good enough throw in front of a running receiver, according to you.

Bland has always given up a ton of catches.
He was more efficient outside though. His 2nd year he gave up a completion % of 53.9 while playing outside. His just doesnt have the skill set to play the slot. He doesnt have the feet or the lateral agility

I wasn't able to torture myself to that degree. Rewatching that mess just seems like a task of futility.

Really good synopsis. I think Dak’s cut hand might have played a role with his throwing. The Cowboys offensive timing was off after that first drive because Tampa first drive changed momentum. Bland has got foot issues. Not good for a cornerback.

Good analysis. I agree with many of your points.

Thought the same thing about Dak. Wondering if the cut on his hand from the previous week was an issue?

Hopefully Durant and Overshown are back next week and Downs can play down in the box more with Porter also being an obvious upgrade.

They can only get better lol….
That was the worst I have seen Dak throw the ball in a long time….for whatever reason.

Praying for all positive health news with Durant and Overshown and they get Porter completely integrated. Pettine should come up with a few tweaks tot he’d as well and we are coming into the part of the season that we have to stack wins.

He rarely had time. The defense is getting worse every game and is why the team is losing. Horrible defensive play cascades throughout the entire team ie field position, play calling etc. But keep blaming the QB. I like to know who’s posts to read and who’s not to.
There are several reasons why this team stinks.
And Dak’s inability to make good decision in critical parts of the game is one of the big reasons this team can’t win consistently.

Did you watch the all-22?

Even Dak apologist admitted this. Even when he anticipated blitz, he called out the wrong guy and a rusty Tyler Smith wasn't able to adjust as quickly.
The all-22 shows something else. How about NOT continuing to ask your quarterback to throw a ball 25 yards on vertical routes to gain three yards...or turning your running back into a blocking dummy. How about a horizontal quick pass scheme to take advantage of the THREE WRs that are all good at RAC? How about NOT running shotgun empty or no-back alignments on third and short? IOW...how about a HC/play-caller helping his quarterback and receivers and not hanging them out to dry? How about running the dmn ball behind Guyton and Smith?

Defense gave the offense 4 possessions in the 2nd qtr and they put up 3 points and ran off about 5 min of clock, one possession was like 30 something seconds. That's the story. Defense gassed by second half and it showed. If the offense had managed to put together some scoring drives, it likely puts more pressure on the young undrafted rookie QB and he makes some mistakes.

One of the issues with this offense, even when it's clicking, is it's all chunk plays. There's very few, long, sustained drives that keep the defense off the field. With a defense that's this bad, you want them out there as little as possible.
Feast or famine offense...when your HC isn't dialing up the running game and instead calling shotgun formations on third and 2 or 3 with no underneath check-down, which requires Prescott to throw the ball 20 - 25 frigging yards to convert short yardage when they should be running the dmn ball behind Guyton and Smith.

Schottenheimer literally put his offense in a position to fail and took FAR too long to adjust to the self-inflicted problems. That game is a MAJOR tell that this offense is teetering on becoming "feast or famine". It's being mismanaged and used improperly. It's what happens when you don't have a bread and butter identity. When your running game is the "keep 'em honest type" and your route combinations are the "go to the buick" type.

You have the best slant route runners in the league. Why were they not running more slant route to beat the rush.

Tell Bobby Belt...he was the one who said Dak was fooled. He even said he thinks Dak is the best in the league at presnap and putting people in the right places, but not this game.
This is BS. Just watch the all-22. Prescott is not responsible for formations. Forcing a quarterback to throw a football 20 to 25 yards on third and 2 or 3 with no check-down is dumb. These max protect vertical routes were dumb. Dallas has three receivers that are great at RAC. There was very little horizontal aspect to the offense until late. 70 - 75% of the offensive snaps were from shotgun.
