I can see it. We played no QBs ranked in the top 10 when we played them this year, and it seemed every team had some major issues n we faced them.

Dak showed cold impacts him, so the NFL will make sure we play at NY and Philly in Dec. Tough sledding next year.

I mean.. I would too..

I haven't looked at our schedule but I get pretty close to our W/L record just based on our schedule. I had us winning 11 games last year.

The problem with this franchise is let downs after big years. Something doesn't go according to plan and we just never adjust.
What's happened is that Romo got hurt after every big year. Will that happen to Dak?

Fieldgulls is a great blog. But he's unclear on some of our cap options, clearly.

We're going to have a lot of turnover on defense. We'll see what happens.

He brings up some decent facts. But at the end of the day...... you can use this argument for any team. He just sssumes everyone will get better without factoring everyone could be worse. Especially the Seahawks who look to be spiraling down.

You never know from 1 year to the next.

That's why it was super important for us to take advantage of what we had this past Sunday.

Homefield against a banged up team that didn't match up very well with us. We blew it.

We don't play in the AFC East. We play in a division that is hard to be consistent in.

If we didn't make the playoffs next year I would not be shocked and it would really just be par for the course.

We just watched the 2 teams that played in the Superbowl a year ago not even make the playoffs... This league changes every year.
I totally agree! We blew a huge opportunity. Our schedule is brutal next season: AFC West, NFC West, GB, ATL, and our tough division.

A 13-3 season doesn't guarantee a successful 2017 season, refer to the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Go back to 07 and what happened to us in 08. Go back to 09 and look what happened to us in 2010. Usually when we enter seasons with high expectations the team disappoints. Look at Carolina and Denver, neither made the playoffs after reaching the SB last season. We first have to get over this loss and not have the disappointment carry over to next season. Then you have to worry about injuries, if Dak or Zeke goes down that changes everything because those two players are the main reason we had a great regular season this year.

You can never take anything for granted but good luck trying to convince FANS of that. Most already have their SB plans booked for next season. When you blow a great opportunity you may suffer a hangover the following season. You don't know from one year to the next how things will play out. We're going to have a very difficult time duplicating the regular season we had this season and I said the same thing after the 2014 season. Doesn't mean we can't but it won't be easy and unless we fix the defense, we'll end up getting knocked off again in the playoffs.
I understand why the league does it, but I really don't agree with the scheduling where the top teams all beat each other up the next year. It always seems to allow lesser teams to sneak into the playoffs.

Those that keep bringing up 2007 and 2014 are failing to realize those teams didn't have Dak and Zeke along with a dominant o line. We will be in the playoffs again. Don't worry guys.

Garrett only makes the playoffs if the stars align. Which is hardly any injuries at all, an easier schedule and a QB/RB combination who have MVP caliber years. 2014 and 2016 are his only playoff appearances. Both seasons had the same recipe I described. Him and his staff are not going to help us out any. The players are going to be the ones carrying them. Him and Marinelli have no idea how to adjust during the games. We win in spite of Garrett, not because of him. This was evident last year when one player goes down and the entire franchise falls apart.
you hit it on the head, but I still think they make playoffs, then lose again in div round lol.

I'm leaning more towards a 2013 Falcons meltdown

It would also get Garrett back a lot closer to his .500 career record.

I really believe that we have turned the page of inconsistency and will be a perennial good/contending team for the next 3-5 years.

We are just doing too many things the right way now. Managing the salary cap, building mostly through the draft, Zeke, and winning the lottery with Dak.

If we build on the defense, we will be good going forward.

Pretty much. The calls against us sucked this year and 2014. But that's Garrett for you. All up until that point, the home teams in the playoffs won and won comfortably. They didn't allow any bad calls to beat them because they won by so much. We always seem to have zero room for error with Garrett. If we are going to win, it's going to be fighting and clawing.

So far in every playoff game he has coached in, we have looked way too sloppy compared to the regular season. We got down 21-3 to GB early and 14-0 to detrot in 2014. Both of these games were at home. Unacceptable.
