the only thing i will say about henson is this....

Parcells seems to be hesitant of starting players at any position when he thinks they are "not ready". For example he always talks about how he wont play a rb if they cant pick up the blitz.

Probably the reason is twofold, first he doesnt want to hurt the rest of the team by playing a player who seems lost in the mental apsects of the pro game, and second it prevents players from reinforcing bad habits or learning to do things the wrong way just cause they're thrown into a situation where things are moving too fast for them. The nfl game is so complex today you cant just succeed on athleticism, you have to have a real feel for whats going on.

If parcells doesnt want to allow a rb into the game cause they dont read defenses enough to pick up the blitz, then forget about him starting a qb who doesnt have the experience to read and react to defenses.

I agree and I can accept that Henson is still a project in the works. This is year 2 on the team and I think he will face pressure next year of showing if he has what it takes or not.

Just wondering what ya'lls forecast was for Henson. As I see it, He aint got it figured out yet, he never will. How old is he again? He sat in MLB for 3 years, houston 1 and now his 2-3rd year with us. Thats 6-7 years there. Plus the 2 for him to finish developing so your looking at spending almost a decade on develping a QB???? Landry must be turning over in his grave.

Go out and draft a damn QB and give him 2 years. then at age 35 when he retires you will have gotten 10-12 good years out of him, not 3-5.

they just don't grow on trees you know. guess what age staubach was when he finally started a game for us?

Do you see henson being ready by 29? I sure as hell dont see any Staubach in henson.

You and I and everyone else that is not involved with this team are just voyeurs and nothing more. Each play has a results which would be hidden from anyone that is not on the team using THEIR grading system.

This is one rule that I live by when viewing and commenting on sports. This applies to every position and every sport. That's why I take every post/commment with a grain of salt. We can only base our opinion on what we know and see. It's the things that we don't know that have a greater affect on what we see.

I never made a direct comparison, you taking lessons in exaggeration from BNA?

You brought up age as a factor, I gave you several QBs of varying levels of success that did not start until their late 20's.

You can add others like Young, Flutie, Moon, and Garcia that played in other leagues and took a long time to finally start in the NFL.

You have guys drafted at various levels that had to struggle for years before the right situation clicked for them like Dilfer, Gannon and Beurlein.

I find it comical that when Dallas is finally handling a young QB the right way, so many want to pull the plug.

Why would you change something you haven't been able to give a fully evaluate?

Henson started this year at the end of January 2005.

We got him via trade end of March 2004.

Bit of a difference in terms of offseason time.

Same thing BP has done with all evaluations.

Don't be an instant evaluator.
Who's instantly evaluating?

It's Hansen said Drew is 'done' not me.

Put him on your ignore list. It makes reading QB threads a whole lot better. :)

Unless someone replies to him with the quote.;)

But it would take about half the posts out of each QB thread.:lmao2:

Two Deep, thank you for a very good post. I believe this QB situation is for from over. Mr. Henson may very well be our franchise QB before everthing is said and done. I have posted in other threads that Romo started off as the backup last year but did not finish the season that way. I think there is a good chance that could happen again this year. Everyone needs to remember it was Henson who got the start last year when Vinny got hurt, not Romo. As Henson's changed mechanics get better I believe he will move up the depth chart. :)

After reading through the mockery he made of Rack's very promising thread, I decided I would not subject myself to that ever again. It's a shame because when he is not downing Henson in a QB thread he sometimes has some very good commentary. It's too bad you can't use ignore on just QB threads. :)

I like both our young QBs although Romo clearly is better at this point it time.

I don't know why there haven't been more threads devoted to "what the heck do we do if Bledsoe goes down"?

I say we use one of the young guns. It's highly doubtful we can sign a veteran to come in and lead us to the playoffs. Any veteran signed would have a learning curve (other than Vinny and we all know he is not the answer). So if Bledsoe goes down then just insert the current #2 (early in the year it will be Romo later possibly Henson) and go with it. Who knows, one of them could have a Brady-like season. :starspin

Romo for a game or two. But I would rather have Vinnie if Bledsoe were to go on IR.

Good post TwoDeep... It's clearly well thought out...and certainly beats some of the stuff that has been posted about our back up QB situation...

No way! No more Vinny. I would certainly be happy with Romo if Bledose some how got injured. Romo will be fine as Bledsoe's backup.
