Reading too many stories on how Dallas needs to lose

It is a stupid idea, especially with this team.

Maybe if one of those Wade Phillips teams had a long winning streak, then losing would have been needed because those teams had an incredible sense of entitlement and no discipline.

This team at Garrett's insistence has almost all RKG type players that don't need to lose to keep working hard.
Worth a second read.

Having tough down to the wire games like we've had in the last three of our last four games should keep us focused. It's not like we've been rolling over anyone the past two games. The last two games could have gone either way had Washington or Minn recovered their onside kick attempts.

If we beat the Giants I'd almost prefer a loss to the Bucs. I wouldn't feel good about having 4 weeks between meaningful games. And that will happen if we win the next two.

I would rather lose one more game just so I don't have to listen to all the morons some here and most on ESPN, stating that we could have gone 19-0 if not for TWill.

I don't know, I think I would be perfectly fine with the complaining about only going 18-1 if not for TWill.

On a side note, if we did win out, would that be the second best season ever in the modern NFL? While not an undefeated season, it would be 18 straight wins which has only been done by NE...who lost the SB also two more wins than 72 Dolphins.

The 2007 12-1 team certainly didn't become more focused after losing to Philly in week 15, it sent them spoiling downward and they never recovered. Having to battle to win games every week will keep us grounded and focused. We'll likely lose a game before the end of the regular season but would like to see us win a franchise record 14 games.

that is what worries you.... winning the SB but not having gone 19-0...it is just troll noise...I'll take 18-1

I don't want Washington or New York once the regular season is done either. The familiarity is tough to beat out more than a couple of times. Plus I think the Commanders match up very well, whether we want to admit it or not.

I don't want them either but it's almost a foregone conclusion if the Cowboys get the 1 seed and they both get wild card spots. In that case they'd both have to lose in the first round or one of them is headed to Dallas.

Not the right thread but Gronk was just placed on season-ending IR. Officially out for the season.

First it was Michael Irvin last week saying he thinks it would be good for Dallas to lose game and re-focus after pain of that loss. This week its Tony Dungy saying "The worst thing that can happen is winning in December but not playing well. You start believing your team is better than you are."

Articles are coming out basically saying Cowboys will loss to Giants and it will be good thing. I am not sure I agree with this thinking because there is nothing normal about whats going on in Dallas. Rookie QB & RB have never gone on this kind of streak in NFL history. So to speak - we are already off the grid.

No rookie QB has ever started a Super Bowl game. Super Bowls started in 1967 so it will be 50 years this January. Personally, this team has already exceeded all expectations and if they don't reach super bowl I will not be disappointed. Just keep winning and learning because I think we are looking at 12 win team for next few years with multiple shots at super bowl.

I agree with John Madden that losing is never a good thing. You can get good out of a loss if you learn from it and get better, but the loss itself is not a good thing.

We are going to drop a game here anyway so I tend to not worry about this stuff.

Even if win the next 4 games, we'll likely lose the last game at Philly. We'll likely rest a lot of key players and starters because we'd have home field locked up.

I don't think that would ever happen. You think they want to put Romo out there and watch him lead the offense to 40 points per game so they can put him back on the bench? No chance.

I thought we were going to lose to the Vikings. My feeling was basically that the Cowboys can't keep winning forever (and the Vikings can't keep losing forever). I'd rather the Cowboys win every week, but if we have to lose I sure would rather get it out of the way before the playoffs.
That's one reason so many people watched Thursday night...looking for the Boys to lose. Too bad so sad:starspin:

wth. A loss or two doesn't mean anything...unless you want to make a big deal about it. Most clubs have a few season losses before winning the SB. Losing is never a good thing...but it is going to happen.

You don't want NYG ultra confident with 2 wins vs Dallas heading to the playoffs. You don't want either Detroit or TB to come into Dallas and get a win when they possibly will return to play there in a few weeks for the divisional round of playoffs. So if there's a "good loss" on the schedule, it is in Philly in Week 17.

and hopefully an inconsequential one...the bottom line, despite all these "loss" theories, is that in order to secure the division and HF throughout, Dallas must keep it's foot on the gas. New York could well win at Pittsburgh and at home against Dallas, perhaps forcing the Cowboys' hand all the way to game 17 at Philadelphia...so in theory you can entertain all manner of "theories" but in reality, Dallas still has work to do in order to secure both the division and home field throughout, which is their best chance for reaching the Superbowl this year.

We don't need to lose. We need to remain focused and take things one practice at a time and one play at a time. They have to focus on doing their job and nothing else should matter. Where you start getting into the issue with teams performing poorly off a win streak is that the focus becomes divided between doing your job and failing at your job.

You're always going to plays where you fail at your job in football. Nobody is a robot programmed to do it perfectly every time. The key is to keep focusing on doing your job and nothing else matters. When that doubt starts to creep in, that's when we make mistakes.

If we play to win instead of playing not to lose...we'll be fine.

People are gonna celebrate like the SB if we lose our first game.
