If Jones lucks into an elite QB with great influence in the locker room , and we have a strong defense , a super bowl is possible with some luck . Even Jerry cannot mess it up . Dak is not that type of QB unfortunately. Dan Quinn is the right defensive type coach that can field a good enough defense .

You're the one settling for so-so....move on, if you don't like it...people think it's easy to win championships.....it's not!
I disagree with you. My team are always winning championships at least in my mind but unfortunately it doesn’t end up in reality, lol.

Pats, GB, PITT... (last 26 years) are always in the PO run....ask yourself why
Answer is pretty simple.....

Tom Brady
Aaron Rodgers
Big Ben

And then there is our cast of clowns pretending to be QBs.

Just amazes me...in the last 26 years...Jerry refuses to draft a QB with a premium draft pick...instead trying to strike gold while panning in the gutter.

The worst part about Jerry and the Cowboys front office is they actually did put together some really good teams over the years. But every time they get close, they make moves to make the team worse, not better. The 2016 was a gift from heaven. They were so close with a rookie class that excelled. Good teams would have built off of that and come back the next year even better.

This is where they failed in FA. But you can't keep everyone, but you are correct if done right you should build upon that.
However this happens to many teams, not just Dallas. Though some will not admit that.

It will be interesting over this season, more like the next few seasons. As to what happen with KC and LAR, TB and teams on the upper end of SB contenders. Look at the Steelers with Big Ben as he aged and was often injured. Same will happen soon to GB also. How can AR be losing most of his WR's. Brady without several of his guys.
Maybe they did well with the draft and FA, maybe not.

I hope Jerry and his FO got it right this year.

This is why I said they don't actively seek a championship. If the Cowboys do win one, it will come out of nowhere during one of our good seasons. What the Cowboys did in the offseason after 2016 was disgraceful. Zero effort and showed no intent on winning a championship. So I can't blame the OP for his post.

There's a guy named Mark Holmes that has a you tube channel. I'm sure a lot of people in here know who he is. Recently he said Stephen Jones said that the Cowboys will take less risks after Jerry is gone. I haven't heard him say this, but if there's any truth to it, I'm a bit perplexed. That's like a vegan saying they're going to eat less meat next year.

If this turns out to be true many of us can forget about Dallas competing for a super bowl for the rest of our lives. I get that some people feel they need a ton of cash in order to feel like they are living comfortably, but where do you draw the line? How much is enough?

Pretty much the entire past decade can be summed up as such: a sinking realization in Cowboys Nation that 1) we're too loyal to ever ditch the team but 2) the team will never win a Super Bowl again in our lifetimes, perhaps never even get close.

A thousand Jerry threads have been posted before, so there's no point in digging up that topic again. But, realistically, we can only enjoy highlights, maybe go to the occasional game (AT&T will always be a top-10 stadium,) muse about the longer-and-longer ago past glory days, and maybe enjoy the performance of the occasional unexpected breakout star such as Romo, Parsons or Miles Austin.

At age 34, I know I'm young compared to many other posters. But I'm pretty resigned. Never even seen Dallas advance beyond the divisional playoffs or win a road playoff game in my life. At least I'll still have my San Antonio Spurs, who have given me all the championship joy and dozens of playoff wins the beloved Cowboys never did.

So......this is life? Dallas will be so-so for life?
You Romoholics are the absolute worst.

Championships? Yes, they are difficult to win.

How about an NFC Championship Game APPEARANCE in a quarter century?

They've been THREE very difficult wins short of a Championship in each of the last 26 seasons, at best. Thats the definition of repeated failure and the idea that management seems to have no desire to change isn't acceptable to me.

And no, I'm not going to "root for another team." I'm going to continue to complain about the current leadership.

This is the EXACT place to do exactly that. For those that dont want to hear it, there are options for you.

Meanwhile, I'm preparing for another year of denial.

Thank you.
Uhhh, hello? We would have already been to at least 2 NFC Championship Games (2014 & 2016) if it wasn't for the Badell chosen crooked referees. Everyone knows that if one saw those divisional games those playoff years under Romo & Dak.

If one is going to cry/complain about how "it's been 30 years and we're never going to reach another SB ever", well, you'd better complain about this crooked Commissioner and his crooked Referees. If not, shut it with the constant Cowboys complaining already (goes for anybody in general).

Dude, there's people that never draw a line. It doesn't matter how much they have. It's at every level. I've seen people take jobs that pay them 5k more a year and be miserable. Then sit in traffic for 2 hours a day in the commute. Similarly, you could have 500 million dollars and sacrifice all else to make more. I can't explain it.
