All Jerry needs is an ace coach that he respects and shares power with. He was able to do it with Jimmy and the dynamic between Parcells and himself was productive.

I am willing to see what MM can do this year. The defensive coaching staff is excellent and as for the offense we will have to see but if Dak can stay healthy such that he is able to be a red zone and 3rd down backbreaker then I think we can score a lot of points.
The difference with Jimmy is the buck stopped with him when it came to personnel .

It did initially with Bill then Jethro begin meddling and why Bill left early. And he’s meddling even more with Mikey.

It’s why despite whatever coaching and talent amassed it’s not a conducive atmosphere anymore for success.

Jethro wants to win badly but not enough to get out of the way,

Umm that is what he wanted everyone to believe and that is why he had kittens when Jerry used Beathard to broker a deal with the Rooneys for Thomas Everett. The crap he was talking when got fired was all about that.

And it is impossible for anyone other than the owner of a franchise to have final say on anything. They all work at his pleasure. That is just how ownership works.

I went 38 years between Cups with my Boston Bruins. I had a hell of a good time at the championship parade in year 39.

Huh? Okay then, I'll take that over a defeatist if you are going to frame it that way.

I was speaking factually. You do not speak to any of those facts but instead characterize to dismiss me out of hand. That's pretty lame.

Jimmy did not have complete control. He did have his name on the executive signature card but then so do did Jerry.

It is what it is.

The overall odds of winning a SB is 1 in 32 because there are 32 teams that compete each season.

Therefore, an "average" team should win a SB every 32 years.

The Dallas Cowboys have won 5 Super Bowls in 62 years. So, even if the Cowboys do not win a 6th in the next 130 years, they will still have won their fair share.

Does that make anyone feel better?

Didn't think so.

Jethro just provided his stamp of approval with Jimmy.

Jethro gets credit for hiring Jimmy. Nothing else except for going along with whatever Jimmy wanted.

And in the end couldn’t set his ego aside which nullifies anything good he contributed.

He could have been a great owner if he wasn’t consumed with being face of the franchise and football celebrity GM.

Pretty much the entire past decade can be summed up as such: a sinking realization in Cowboys Nation that 1) we're too loyal to ever ditch the team but 2) the team will never win a Super Bowl again in our lifetimes, perhaps never even get close.

A thousand Jerry threads have been posted before, so there's no point in digging up that topic again. But, realistically, we can only enjoy highlights, maybe go to the occasional game (AT&T will always be a top-10 stadium,) muse about the longer-and-longer ago past glory days, and maybe enjoy the performance of the occasional unexpected breakout star such as Romo, Parsons or Miles Austin.

At age 34, I know I'm young compared to many other posters. But I'm pretty resigned. Never even seen Dallas advance beyond the divisional playoffs or win a road playoff game in my life. At least I'll still have my San Antonio Spurs, who have given me all the championship joy and dozens of playoff wins the beloved Cowboys never did.

So......this is life? Dallas will be so-so for life?
I have gotten to see 4 sb wins
And I am loyal.
So going down with the ship.

Bunch of crybaby fans......it's frikkin hard to win a championship.....root for your team and enjoy when it happens...a lot of things have to come together...players, coaches, health, other teams health.....etc..coaches work 90 hours a week and they don't get any respect from fans unless they win a SB.
How about a non wildcard win, we get you 26 years everyone show a little respect for the ineptitude, stupidity, poor coaching, bad contracts, self entitled players who talk a great game but wilt like pansies when the heat is on. Thanks for the homer view on it’s ok to be mediocre, everything just hasn’t come together the last 2 decades it’s hard and the money isn’t great. LOL

yes with an occasional good regular season record tease but a quick playoff exit and true believers forever blaming the refs and/or Goodell, et al instead of where the blame should always go, the insurmountable albatross that is jeri & spawn
An occasional good regular-season record is only because they're in the NFCE.

The OP does make sense. Ever since the Cowboys went to this system roughly 10 years ago, it's kind of hard to envision a championship. Nevertheless, it could still happen even though management isn't actively pursuing one.

You could also say that on average a team should be in a SB every 16 years. But some want it more than others.

first off its you are digging the nonsense up..dotn like it, move on..bye bye
secondly 18 other teams have not reached a SB since we won our last one, took KC 51 years between sbs, phily took 60 years to win their first and only one, Cince the new flavor for year 31 years between sbs and no sb wins at all. Jerry has 3.. got it> this isnt a jerry thing it league thing,..noone here knows if Jerry would have hired a standalone GM or 3 or 4 or 5 since Jimmy left, with the public title that it would have made a difference

we also are relative top 10 in wins since 2016 and top 11 since 2000 so yes you are drumming this up again and we while all are frustrated, fans with common sense know its not as bad as you are making it out to be and i do believe in our lifetime and im 52 we will get back to an NFCCG and get to another sb.yes its goign to happen.

Rangers, stars, and Mavs, 2 titles between 3 franchises in their existence,., and ?? they have had many real gms, changed owners, blew up teams..that all they have?? says rings are hard to come by,,
The only thing that matters is the playoffs, this is where a team gets graded, not by counting wins in the weakest division in the NFL. in the last 25 years, only the Lions have a worst playoff win percentage than the Cowboys (23%, 3-10). Fans with common sense DO know it's as bad it is. It's bad, very, very bad. BTW, Jimmy won those championships, not Jerry.

if Jerry would have hired a standalone GM or 3 or 4 or 5 since Jimmy left, with the public title that it would have made a difference

LOL....Would've, Should've Could've

I think that’s a scientific view. You gather data over a sample size an analysis the data. if you can accept that your not going to go through the insane reactions we get here. Also you might get surprised
