I don't really mind those people that want to see the bright side of each game. It's the people that come in the second the game is over talking about eating crow and "I'm sure glad I was wrong" wanting in on the victory supper after spending all week telling everyone to be realistic. At some point, you gotta put chips on the table and you in or ya out!
Agreed. I grew up with people saying being wrong should be something you should just accept. No harm. No foul.

Everyone gets something wrong occasionally. However, it is somewhat vaguely false in seemingly always saying, "I'm right! I know I'm right! You cannot make me say otherwise! I'm right times infinity! Wait. I was wrong. Let me publicly apologize for unashamedly saying I was right. That's my penance. Now I'm off the hook until the next time I say I'm right and I cannot be wrong!"

You say chips. I say something else.. like Planters.

Some just don't have the Planters.

That's a fair counterpoint. I'm not with the extreme negative camp either. I do give the Cowboys a chance to win. All Cowboys fans should celebrate if we win today. I just don't see the need to place a "bet".

Shout out to those Cowboys fans who didn't cave in to the homer mob who spent all week browbeating other Cowboys fans who are willing to admit that the 49ers are probably the better overall team and should be favored to win. And these fans are not Debbie Downers. They realize that on any given Sunday, any team can beat any other team. They just simply acknowledge that over the course of the season, the 49ers have been consistently more dominant and haven't had phases of playing down to inferior teams, penalties and turnovers like the Cowboys have. It wasn't 49ers fans calling for their head coach and starting QB to be kicked to the curb just 2 weeks ago like Cowboys fans were after the Washington loss.

So long story short...you can be a Cowboys fan and acknowledge reality at the same time. You don't have to be one these delusional idiots who are being completely fake about their confidence in the Cowboys winning today. You know, the ones who keep bringing up the 1992 NFC Championship, keeping shouting empty words about fate and destiny. These are not true fans. They are really cowards when it comes down to it.

I expect the mob to show up here and spout their hatred. But I'll be busy watching the game and will cheer/scream/celebrate every bit as hard if the Cowboys are winning today.
There’s a lot of folks who give up at the drop of a dime. You’re not alone.

Seemingly, so-called "debbie downers" and "cowards" have many unresolved differences between them.

I propose a steel cage death match to settle things once and for all.
Hey, I proposed the idea of a cage match thread long ago, wherein any time two or more posters go at it in a thread, to the point that it starts to ruin that thread, any other poster can call for a CAGE MATCH. The offending posters are then removed from said thread and placed in the Cage Match thread until they settle their dispute.

But my concept wasn't picked up, and will probably never come to fruition...but if it does, IT'S MY IDEA!!!!!

Many people are more fond of rah rah than reality. To those people, the people more fond of reality are a downer.

And if you're just talking about being a football fan, the Rah Rah crowd have a point *in reality*. It's sports *entertainment*. Reality is not the point for entertainment.

Do you sit in a movie and keep pointing out "aktually, that's not reality"? Debbie Downer.

Maybe you cheer just as hard when the team is losing. That would make you even more of a mutant than I am, and that's saying something. My condolences.

Have you noticed that you are something of an odd duck yet? That's *reality*. Facing it will make your life easier. Pissing in the cornflakes of the Rah Rah won't. Unless you cheer just as loudly for *yourself* when *your* losing too.

Both “blind homerism” and “realism” are irrelevant in the context of fandom. No one here is enough of a subject matter expert to find employment with an NFL team. Ergo, both are equally likely to be right.

SF has had their soso games against soso teams also.

Not a homer. SF is a bit better than us, but not by all that much. It's close enough that we could easily win this game. I give us a 45% shot at winning. Very close to 50-50.

Weakest schedule in NFC. AND started 3-4.

But they never played down to inferior teams you say. How is that possible?

Reality: This game is a coin flip on who will win.

Strength of Schedule

They rattled the GOAT last week.
- They can rattle a rookie QB.

Those are the haters, like the ones that will blame Zeke or Tank or MM, etc. The Homer's will be positive that we won a playoff game and will be excited about next year. What a day to start a stupid thread like this. Why can't some people just enjoy the moment.
With you on this. Not sure why but confidence high going into this afternoon. Why not be?

Ain't that the truth? The Negative Nancies and the Homers are extreme and are constantly spatting and being none too bright. They ruin most threads and are so loud that it often appears the board is nothing but that.

Hey, during the match, can we throw fleas and scorpions and a toad or two in the ring? Maybe a diamondback or two?
