Reality just arrived

Huh? I'm interpreting your comment based on the finished product, i.e., a 28-17 loss. And I'm saying there's a reason why these games unfold the way they do. There's a reason we always seem to lose these games. I really don't know what you mean by you think I'm not being honest. I think I'm being more than honest.

I said it's hard to evaluate the team the way the game unfolded. Most people would realize the way the game unfolded would speak to how and in what order.

And we still finished 8-8 and out of the playoffs. Who cares if we were top 10 in TM? If we can't take advantage of that, then something's wrong. Something's very wrong with getting more turnovers and not being able to win games. Why is that?

Always love moving goal posts. You say that it's a mentality why we turnover the ball and commit penalties. I give you facts that show we actually did very well last year in turnover margin and you move the argument to missing the playoffs.

Good show.

What you gona' done did, huh?

I still got em' at 11-5, no worse than 10-6!

I wouldn't mind seeing them again in January!

I think more of the team now than i did 24 hours ago. Unless romo is going to play like that, i think they'll be right at .500 again.

The fact that cowboys aren't any good is not a surprise. But how bad they are may have surprised some fans.
This includes me. How about you?

They looked as if they had no souls inside them.

This team turns belly up on the Coach and Front Office sooner than later, the whale may have already rolled over in the sea of inevitabilty.

This is a 1 day old myth IMHO. Everyone seems positive on the defense today, however, I'm not sold at this point:
  • Colin Kaepernick is currently the #1 ranked passer in the NFL with a 125.5 QB rating. He completed 70% of his passes yesterday and averaged 8.7 YPA.
  • Defense forced 0 turnovers
  • Defense only had 1 sack and beyond that just <ok> general pass rush
  • Defense allowed 5.0 ypc against Gore/Hyde. 5.0 ypc will get you killed in this league
  • Pass defense looks exactly the same as it did last year -- which shouldn't be surprising -- it's the same guys as 2013
  • The lack of cover safeties stands out like a sore thumb
Hope I am wrong about this -- however, from my viewpoint the Cowboys pass defense was terrible, the rush defense was bad (based on the Gore/Hyde's 5.0 ypc), the defense was unable to force a turnover, and the pass rush was subpar.

What are the broncos and colts defensive rankings? Packers as well? You betting against any of those team making the playoffs?

I sure hope not. If they arent going to make the playoffs I would just assume they fall apart and get a top 5 pick in the draft. Going .500 again will prolong the rebuild process.

Lots of crying in this thread. just wanted to say that the 'reality' was supposed to be offense good defense very very bad.

That was not what showed up. Conventional 'wisdom' is not particularly wise.

Here is some reality, no team was eliminated from the playoffs this week.

I said it's hard to evaluate the team the way the game unfolded. Most people would realize the way the game unfolded would speak to how and in what order.

Huh? If you look at the game and each play, if you look at how mistakes were made, you can understand how the game unfolded.

You also love inventions of your own imagination.

First, you do understand multiple points don't you? A person offers multiple points because an issue is NEVER a matter of a single point.
Second, what good is it to have a positive turnover rate if you miss the playoffs? The object is not to get more turnovers than your opponent. The objection of professional football is to WIN games and make the playoffs, giving one a chance to get to the Super Bowl. It's kind of like pointing to Tony Romo's passing rating, and then arguing he's a winner.
Third, my point STILL stands. What good is it to point to turnover margin if we're not winning? And if you're not winning despite being in a positive situation concerning winning the turnover margin, something is wrong. And that's what you need to assess. And I DID mention the playoffs in my original assessment. That's not moving the goal post. That's moving to the end zone, which is something we're not doing more than the teams we play. :)

Some of you are so obsessed with stats. But I understand that's all you have when your team, when our team is not winning. The bottom line, no matter how many stats you trot out, is that the Cowboys have been a consistently mediocre franchise and has loss critical games, resulting in NO PLAYOFFS. Your rebuttal is like pointing out how great the shiny brass door knobs are on the Titanic. Uh, okay, great. But the ship is still sinking.

Its really funny how many media people are talking about how theyre right. They are wrong about everything. The run game was good, the defense was good. If there was accountability, you would be fired. Good day.

Who is crying? Who is shedding tears?

If you are serious I admire your loyalty. I don't understand your thinking but I admire it.

I don't pick records on loyalty. I see an 11 win roster. And I always add the disclaimer: if the QB doesn't screw it up.

It's a characterization not meant to be literal. That should be obvious.

Lots of angst and gnashing of teeth.

I love Cowboys fans. Expect them to lose all week long and then get mad when they do.

But it has a negative connotation to it. It implies those who see things wrong with this team shouldn't point them out or shouldn't be taking the emotional position that they are taking.

That's why I asked the question. And my question wasn't to be taken literally either. :)
