Not for the reasons we’ve argued as nauseum already (those too) but with Witten retiring too, just kinda bummed me out that all my favorite post Big Three players are gone.

Had braced my self for Witten retiring for a couple of years already, has Dak looking like a phenom when Romo was pushed out, but sitting here today it’s just kinda sad to me. More heartbreak than joy with these guys, but such an attachment. It was easy to be a fan when we were winning titles, and as much as I liked Emmitt and Troy and Irvin it was almost hero worship. Everyone loved them and there wasn’t much criticism to levy. With these three though, never getting over the hump there’s that feeling of going through the turmoil with them and really emotionally vested in them overcoming the odds. And now they’re gone :(

I share that feeling. I felt the same way when Romo left. I really like Dak and Romo had his injury issues, but can't help but feel Dez might still be here if Romo was able to play and stay healthy in 2017. I know those are big "ifs", but the evidence is there that Dez was a better player with a developed QB. It was clear that Dez was frustrated by Dak's development and compounded this by having an inconsistent season himself. Despite this, Dez is still a great player and will eventually get the chance to prove that (I just wish it was with us).

As far as Witten, I love the player and still think he has a lot in the tank, but can't blame him for taking the Monday Night gig. Like with Romo, these kind of jobs don't come along often, and also like with Romo, Witten is a knowledgeable, personable and articulate guy. He'll be great on Monday night.

Dez acted up and played his way out.

I think Witten's head is spinning. Doesn't want to leave, but was floored by an offer he doesn't feel like he can refuse. I think he's completely torn right now.

But yeah, it's weird with Romo, Murray, Dez, and Witten gone.

I’ll miss the big 3 as well. 3 players who were top 5 at their positions (Romo is debatable), all gone without a Super Bowl or NFC Championship. Its sickening that players of their calibers never made any noise in the postseason. All because of no defense and a bs missed call (the catch)

I've already moved on. To me, it was more relief when Dez left. Not because I didn't like the guy, because he was simply a non fit here and his salary needed to go.

Witten? It was simply time to go. His effectiveness has been slowly diminishing, and I respect him for getting out now while he can still walk.

I can appreciate why some feel that way. Dez and Witten were part of exciting games/moments over the years. Unfortunately, unlike the Triplets, they were never part of any real postseason success - that's not entirely their fault, but it's still the case. After watching the offense struggle at times last year I was ready for some changes. They aren't forthcoming in the coaching and QB departments, so something else had to give.

I will not miss Dez's theatrics. As production declines my patience for silliness drops with it. I will not miss Witten's inability to make big plays at this point of his career. No longer able to seriously threaten defenses down field, his presence makes it harder to run the ball and work other receivers underneath. Whether the new additions can improve things remains to be seen, but what was going on last year wasn't good enough.

Relationships (real or imagined) are formed, change and end. It's called life.

C'est la vie.

Very true sir, but I think the OP put his thoughts and feelings into words well as a writer.

After all, isn't any great book, movie, or story about relationships forming and changing? This team is our frustrating, gut-wrenching, and for now tragic novel that we have to be characters in, or at least reading.

I will miss the 2013 version of Dez.

Dez made things worse then they had to be. Things will be smoother moving forward.
So long as Dak continues to develop and improve. Otherwise we are in for a bad stretch of road. Yeah, Dez was frustrated and it is chicken/egg argument over whether it was his frustration or Dak's inaccuracy that made him inconsistent, but Dak really has no more excuses. He will likely have the best OL, one of the most dynamic/versatile/dominant runners in the game and capable, if not spectacular WRs. Hopefully he had a productive off-season and we'll see the new and improved Dak in 2018.

I agree with this, But I still wish he could have made it work here. I think he's a good kid. But I think the team will be better.

Meh. He lost me the past 3 years. Every year you kept hoping old Dez would miraculously come back, but nope. Age waits for no man folks.

That remains to be seen, but hopefully Gallop can come in and compete. He's a high floor/low ceiling guy, but he has the talent to contribute right away based upon his excellent skill set.
