Really Juicy Stanback Nuggets

The last caller on Late Hits (Sirius) last night inquired about Stanback to Gil Brandt. Gil got this kinda excited edge to his voice and gushed the following details/opinions...

1. He said he talks to Jerry frequently and recently. The last time they spoke, Jerry was excited about Stanback. He then corrected himself and said Jerry was REALLY excited about him.

2. Gil said he would not be surprised, based on his conversation with Jerry, if they didn't even skip WR in this year's draft (I doubt it).

3. He said, "If you have a fantasy football team next year, remember this guys name. He is really going to catch a few balls".

I tell you, this is so encouraging. I still really don't understand how he is going to be a big impact player next year, maybe ending the year as a nice #2, but it bodes well for the future!!

Personally I think we are drafting or trading one of our 1st round picks for a WR and this is all a smokescreen. TO will be around a few more years, but we have no #2 WR. Crayton is a 3rd and that is all he will be

It is now being reported that we may not need a Wr in the 1st round because of stanback...i bet any amount of money he is overestimating what this kid can do at this point....he should IMO, unless we can get roy williams or A boldin, draft a Wr in the 1st round....but jerry doesnt think so...most GM's probably would

If we get pacman we probably wont pick a CB in the 1st round because we are putting all of our eggs into the pacman basket....plus now this alan ball kid is the next coming jerry is saying....most GM's would draft a corner in the 1st round or 2nd...I dont think jerry will for reasons mentioned.

Due to stanback, ball and pacman I think jerry is going to trade up for mcfadden...i think everything else is a smokescreen...is mcfadden the next peterson....people are saying he is not even in the same class as him...i agree....so due to jerrys inability to judge players we will have:

pacman
stanback-3rd receiver if we are lucky-but can he hold up?
ball-hasnt really seen the field---
mcfadden-not a great runningback- he is ok but not worth trading a player and both our 1st round picks for like I think jerry is going to do...
a 4th round corner

when we should have:

stewart
a starting potential corner in the 1st round
another starting potential WR in the 2nd...
still would have pacman

jerry is too much about risk...sometimes that is good but you cant do that all the time...the first scenario has all risk in it....the 2nd doesnt have as much and the pacman risk is backed up by another corner being drafted....

i hope i am wrong but jerry is still jerry...

Huh?

Youre basically taking a bunch of innuendo and inaccuracies, stating them as fact and then blaming Jones for them. Nice.

Gil Brandt's comments are now facts about Jones. Brilliant.

I was really skeptical about clicking on this thread because I wasn't sure what monstrosity was going to be spread across my computer screen...

But to the topic: I think the Cowboys are thinking Stanback is going to be a slot killer for us this year like Welker was for the Patriots last season with his speed. The staff knows about his physical gifts and abilities but didn't want to inject him into the lineup last season until he improved his stance and route running abilities.

..all the hype about what 'Jones thinks' or what 'he's going to do' or 'what is the priority in this draft'.

Jones has no clear idea what is going to happen, who is going to be avaialble at #22 and #28 and who is going to actually offer any trades yet if there are any to discuss.

There is more disinformation than any real information coming from teams and owners and coaches and it gets much worst the closer the draft comes.

So stop with blaming Jones for blowing a draft because some hack writer says it's going to happen this way or that way.

We'll be fine, no matter what happens. They know what they have to do.

We've told them right here in Cowboyzone. They couldn't blow this if they had to.

I even heard Jones has an oiuja board on the War Room out of sight of the cameras and all the letters on it cryptically spell DMAC no matter where the pointer goes.

That's all we need to know.

Don't forget they may have being conservative with that Lis Franc injury for a portion of the year as well. Or at least post-injury rehab.
