Really Juicy Stanback Nuggets

I think the observation was correct. I've seen the guy run while at Washington and evey report from Camp was that his speed would just make jaws drop. I wish he had been healthy and we could have sene more from him. It is what it is though. Ireland was sure wowed by him, and so were the other scouts. I doubt that was all about his tattoos.

I'd just like to see him do it on the field first with a star on his helmet.

You act like you're the only one who wants to see that. Scoot over damnit, there's room on that bandwagon.

No, I'm sure many want to see what he can do for us.

I agree that pretty much everything we know about Stanback can be fit into a thimble. Not much t get excited over. However, I tend to believe that Stanback has more then just a 4.58 40 time to justify the investment the Cowboys are clearly making in him. I agree with those who are a bit skeptical that he can be the piece we need to balance our offense this season, only because I think it takes longer then just one injured camp and a season of sitting on the bench to teach a player how to be a WR and lets face it, that's whats going on here. Stanback is learning how to be an NFL receiver. Having said that, too many people have that OMG look on there face when you talk about Stanback. You see it from people on the team or around the team. I think he's got some serious skills and I think we kinda saw that, to an limited extent, last year in the pre-season.

It is very possible that Jerry could have been talking about Stanback when he made the WOW statement. That would certainly be an unexpected place from which to get it.

I guess I just think that it's a very good idea for us to bring in a Vet WR and draft another good young player at the position. Crayton is a decent WR but I don't know if he's going to turn into a solid #2 or not. At this point, I don't think that he is. I think he's an above average 3rd WR, not more then that. TO is not young, Glenn is at the end. If Stanback is the guy that is going to be a bigtime WR for us, that's great. However, it is my experience that it takes a pretty good College WR prospect a couple of season to turn into a good WR the majority of the time. I have a hard time believing that after just one year on the bench, a guy who was a QB when we drafted him is going to be serious #2 WR for us next year, if ever. JMO.

good lets put all our eggs into stanback, pacman, ball and mcfadden and see where that gets us when we could easily build for the future with 3 strong draft prospects....thats smart gm'g...go jerry

That is the primary reason I don't get all the Stanback criticism.

We knew he was hurt. We knew he was changing positions. Yet expectations were completely out of whack by some.

I didn't read this whole thread, but Gil has been making himself sound "in the know" and spreading gossip for 40 years.

I would take this with a grain of salt.

You lie. You just want to hog all the sunlight.

It'd be nice to see a risk pan out wouldn't it?

Makes me appreciate a player like Jay Ratliff all the more. Here's a guy who is the 4 DL selected by us in one draft and he's every bit as valuable to us as the guys chosen ahea dof him.

Man that was just an outstanding Draft class. 5 starters (including the entire D-line) and one very solid backup.

cool info....although I fear the JJ overestimation...

btw, you might change the title of the thread before someone asks you how you know Stanback's nuggets are juicy...

that's just gross, man...

I'm SO glad that somebody else said that before I got around to reading this thread... :D

While I would like to believe Stanback is ready for this year and will contribute for us, but, until I see his productivity on the field, I'm still going to be skeptical.

But you think a rookie WR is a sure thing (or at least a better one) just because you have seen or heard of his college daring do? The coaches have seen up close what last year's rookies can do, and all Jerry Jones knows about it is what they report to him.

Fans who are ignorant of what the coaches know can't really evaluate the team's needs properly.

..all the hype about what 'Jones thinks' or what 'he's going to do' or 'what is the priority in this draft'.

Jones has no clear idea what is going to happen, who is going to be avaialble at #22 and #28 and who is going to actually offer any trades yet if there are any to discuss.

Don't be absurd, Jerry sees all and knows all...

In fact, he already knew you were going to write that...

There is more disinformation than any real information coming from teams and owners and coaches and it gets much worst the closer the draft comes.

Yeah, that's exactly what he wants you to think... I'm tellin' you, he's GOOD...

I even heard Jones has an oiuja board on the War Room out of sight of the cameras and all the letters on it cryptically spell DMAC no matter where the pointer goes.

A bunch of us chipped in and bought it for his last birthday... he does love it, he just sits there for hours on end, right beside his little mockup of Jerry Jones Stadium, giggling uncontrollably as the pointer retraces the same path...

He's got a groove worn in the board...

That's all we need to know.

Uhhh, what's all we have to know?? I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention...

It's not my fault, I have to pee...

You need to read eduncan22 more often. He is the guru on Stanback's speed, abilities, potential and zodiac sign.

I don't mean to alarm you, but I think the lad commited seppuku not long after Jacques Reeves went to the Toxins...

mcfadden-not a great runningback- he is ok but not worth trading a player and both our 1st round picks for like I think jerry is going to do.
I wish people would stop saying this statement, it drives me nuts. It's trading one 1st rounder, and swaping picks with the other 1st rounder. Trading both 1st rounders indicates you're getting no picks in return like the Galloway trade. We traded 2 first rounders for no picks, and 1 guy.
