that does not explain TO bit about Garcia being gay, and his rants about McFlabb. His beef was with the Birds front office- and what was his beef at SF? SOme of what Banks said was true, I have no doubt- but it only explaina PART of what TO has said and done.
He trashed Garcia after he was gone from the 49ers... and come on... if Jeff Garcia isn't at least "bi" then he's putting on a pretty good act! :p:

if the eagles promised to redo TOs contract, i'm sure we would have heard it from TO. (ya think?) sure, its the media. not him.

but, if it makes you feel better about signing the guy that posed on your star, have at it.

unbelievable.

This morning I was listening to Carl Banks on the NFL channel and he had an interesting perspective regarding TO.

First of all, Carl seems like a guy that should be coaching somewhere. IMO, he clearly knows football and didn’t come across as a talking head like many other former athletes.

Succinctly he stated that fans form opinions without having all of the facts. He says what goes behind closed doors in the NFL are not accurately portrayed through the media.

He posed a ‘what if’ regarding TO’s contract. He said that TO acted as if he was promised something that the iggles front office didn’t deliver on. If they promised to redo his contract and didn’t, they had to know that TO was gonna go ballistic. Also, he said his other stint with the 49er’s proved he was right about what he was saying just not how he was saying it.

Look at Mooch and Garthia. After TO left their careers spiraled; Mooch was exposed as an average coach and Garthia has proven to be nothing but a journeyman QB. Sure his behavior was childish at best but Carl said that he was using the only tools he had at his disposal to get his point across. He said the public / fans only get fed information from the coaches and owner’s perspective. He even confessed to getting in a shoving match with his head coach (not Parcells). He said that is why he loved Parcells because he knew he was dealing with men and just because he is a coach doesn’t make it right for him to crap all over you. Also, he said Reid ain’t no Parcells and he won’t have a problem with TO like Jimmie didn’t have a problem with Haley and he said that Haley was certifiable, lol.

To make a long story short, I touched on this yesterday in a post. Most of the iggle players were more then willing to give TO another chance. The only ones not interested were McFlabb, Coach Eat’em up, and the arsebassador. It is funny how they went from complete jubilee to total disdain for TO. Carl’s take was it was because of promised money. Who knows but FWIW, I tend to agree with this take.
Ya think maybe they suffered the post Terrell syndrome.

WHen the negitivity starts flying around the room, its a long term infection and stays with you long after the 'cancer' has been removed.

Remember also Philly was an NFC championship team prior to terrells landing there. He may have contributed to them actually reaching the superbowl, but he did not help them win it. He dismantled that team as sure as your breathing.

Wether they made him happy or not, is a mute point. Now youhave him. Now you HAVE to keep him happy. When he wants a new ferrrari, is jones just gunna give him a 250K bonus? When the loses start mounting and its clear we aint making the playoffs, is he gunna be content to ride out the season and get ready for next year?

You guys have added more questions then answers to your team.

And you act like youjust won the superbowl already. I can see the fall from grace is gunna be really hard here. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. Man, Jones just jumped off that cliff without even seeing whats at the bottom. I hope he goes splat and the boys go winless in Terrells tenure here.

Heres to the worst three years in Cowboys history.

It doesn't really matter that much, but I think you're mistaken.

I couldn't find a date on this article, but it clearly implies that they are "former" teammates and that Owens was with Philly when he gave the Playboy interview.

Owens, Garcia and Gay

By Jim Buzinski
Outsports.com

Terrell Owens implies that Jeff Garcia is gay. Garcia denies it and mentions that he has had girlfriends. The mainstream media is excited. I yawn.

I confess that the Owens-Garcia lover’s quarrel, as one friend jokingly dubbed it, leaves me underwhelmed. I don’t think Owens’ comments, while classless and ignorant, were all that heinous. And Garcia’s response is annoying.

Yet the dustup between the two former teammates has provided grist for a media mill lacking in much else to write about in the dog days of summer. A Google News search turns up 150 media sources that have run with the story, and ESPN devoted a segment to the issue, spinning it into a larger “homosexuals in the NFL angle.”

Owens, a wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles, started things off when his comments in the current issue of Playboy became public. In the article, he was asked whether he thought Garcia was gay. "Like my boy tells me: If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat, by golly, it is a rat."

He then followed up with general comments on having a gay teammate. "I probably wouldn't say anything right off the bat. I'd just see what everyone else has to say. I'd probably keep my distance and, hopefully, he would keep his. If it was a guy who was helping us win ball games, hey, I'd have no problem with it. He can do what he wants to do outside of my everyday life."

A day later he was furiously backspinning. "I didn't say that he was gay," Owens told reporters. "The conversation and the interview were loose. To my knowledge, I'm not sure if Jeff is gay or not. I've seen him out — he had a girlfriend when we were in San Fran. There's been a recent report that he has a girlfriend now. That was the extent of it. Everybody's going to make a big deal out of it. It wasn't like I came out and said 'Jeff was gay.' People asked me similar questions about Steve Young. Everybody is going to have their rumors."

Banks really does do a good job of addressing the TO situation. He is very smart man. I love the way he is setting people straight on the TO thing

I agree with you that it does not matter when, fact is it was something that should never have been said but then TO says many things that should not be said. I fear Dallas is going to be the laughing stock of the NFL once TO pulls his stunts and everyone will rightly say "Damn didn't you guys pay attention about TO"

Nice end around to cover your own anxiety at TO signing in Dallas. Should be an interesting year.

I wonder if players sign confendiatility agreements about this sort of thing, making it illegal for him to say certain things.

You think anything terrell signs will prevent him from talking. Your deluding yourself. If terrell wants to talk to the media, nothing you make him sign is gunna stop him. Hes an idiot of the highest order.

I still have a problem with Owens' behavior and the destruction he seems to leave behind, but this is the most compelling argument I've seen yet in support of Owens.

Very good post, my friend. :bravo:

Banks is on WFAN alot and he is a smart, reasonable guy and good interview. One of the few guys I like to listen to when they have football guests every week.

ESPN needs like 5 of him.

I always wondered myself why he's not coaching somewhere but maybe he just doesn't want to.

For all we know, Garcia could be. The supermodel beard doesn't convince me of a thing. And if he isn't, so what. He was still a product of the system. That has been proven in both Cleveland and Detroit. I guess now he is in Philadelphia why? To sooth McNabb's bruised ego?

His beef was with the Birds front office- and what was his beef at SF? SOme of what Banks said was true, I have no doubt- but it only explaina PART of what TO has said and done.

You are forming your argument based off what you think happened in SF. Did you get it off SportsCenter by chance?

Mariucci ran a very undisciplined ship. In SF and Detroit. It is very well documented that Detroit had an incredible mess to clean up after him, which is why they hired Marinelli who is a reknowned disciplinarian. As far as I am aware, Owens had issues with Greg Olson (the OC, who Vick now has issues with) and with Garcia, plus Mariucci's double standard.

A clause in his contract that costs him money isn't going to stop him?

You people just crack me up.

You are all SO SURE you know what he is going to do. It is quite impressive. Can you give me lottery numbers too?

No offense, but this is one of the weirdest posts I've ever read, if I'm correct and you are/were a Cowboys fan. So if Owens is signed, you're not only NOT a Cowboys fan anymore you're rooting against the Cowboys? Welcome to bizarro world.
