I actually think that this will really hurt him. More and more the NFL looks at the character of a player. For a player to have bad character and sit out a year. It doesn't look good. No NFL team wants to pay bush more than Mario Williams. IT will NEVER happen. Bush better take whatever contract they give him and be happy. Otherwise he is going to loose millions by playing the greed game.

Its called being smart.

He's allready done a lot for that city and he hasn't even played a down yet.

The guy is going to come in and be the savior of that team and that city.

Give him what he wants because the organization will make no telling how much in profits for what ever they pay for him.
let's see if they can even sell out before we annoint Bush the savior...

Mike Williams was half the player Bush was coming out of college. He sat out a year and got drafted #11. Just talent alone would keep Bush top 10 if he sat out a year

Actually Mike Williams went #10 overall, a young guy by the name of DeMarcus Ware (perhaps you have heard of him?) went #11 and Shawne Merriman went #12

This may be a business decision by Bush and his agent, but it's a stupid move. He may be drafted top-10 in '07 but he won't be picked before Quinn, and I doubt he gets picked #2. All I see is Bush not getting the money next year that he wants now, all the while earning a reputation that will 1> make things rougher for him in the league, 2> turn fans against him, and 3> make him less desirable as an endorser.

I'm sure Bush would still go in the top 15 next year but I think Mike Williams and Clarett sit out a year and still got drafted pretty highly, serve as an example of how sitting out a year can detrimentally affect a player and their examples would probably serve as a deterrent to anyone who would be interested in drafting Bush next year. Add that to the fact that Bush would be forever labeled a contract malcontent and difficult to sign....wouldn't bode well for him.
I don't think there's any way a Reggie Bush who's sit out for a year would get drafted over Heisman candidates who DIDN'T sit out a year like Quinn, Peterson (who is also an everydown back), and Calvin Johnson. It's possible he might not even go top ten. Next year's draft is going to be stacked at the top with players who haven't sit out for a year or had a history of problems holding out for more money despite never playing an NFL down.

Its interesting to speculate...but I imagine Bush will be playing for the 'Aints this year. And given his obvious bad attitude, Bush deserves to play in such a toilet place on such a toilet organization.

this won't happen.

Bush will have less appeal next season after a year away from the game.
Any endorsement money will dry up faster than Bush can spend it if he sits a year.

He'd be a first rounder again of course but chances are not good he'd be top 5.

The top teams would have to need a RB and feel like gambling on a guy who hasn't played in a year after never really shouldering a full load in college.

Maybe Bush needs to take advice from Clarett. Then he will sign. Yeah a different situation, but still stupid idea.

any other team and Bush probably has all the leverage but not with the Saints. Hes only making himself look like a selfish punk which might be his true self in a city that was touched by disaster and have people that lost it all after Katrina. Bush needs to stop being a greedy punk and just sign the contract that the #2 pick gets. Because HELLO REGGIE BUSH YOU WERENT TAKEN #1, SO YOU DONT GET #1 MONEY!!!!!!!!

Good point.
I remember him in interviews saying how it was important for him to go #1.
But his decision to play hard ball with the Texans on a contract caused him to go #3.
I still believe the Texans needed Bush more than Mario Williams but after hearing this latest news about threatening to hold out the entire season, I can understand the Texans decision better.
I'm sick of hearing about Reggie Bush...
His parents housing...
His desire to be the first pick...
His desire to wear #5...
He wants more money or he will sit...
I see a trend with this dude.

I put Bush in the same class as Elway and Eli. Two guys who had all the talent in the world coming out of school, but cried and forced trades when they were drafted.

FWIW, Elway's situation was markedly different, mostly because there was no free agency at the time. Also, he had the option of signing a lucrative baseball contract if he chose not to play for the Colts. He played his trump card in an era when the players had very little leverage, and I don't blame him at all.

It'd be great if Bush sat out a year, then got drafted by New Orleans all over again. Bet that would chap his back side. I can hear the guys on ESPN now when that pick is made.

Well, I've got this question for you guys then. What if, just what if, the Saints see Bush is playing hardball, and he might go back into draft for 2007.

So, to recoup that high pick, they decide to trade him, for a # 1 pick and maybe a player or extra draft pick. So, what if in that trade, since Peyton knows Parcells, he trades the rights to us for Bush to us.

Granted, I dont like Bush attitude about more money & with New Orleans problems with the hurricane disaster. But, just bare with me, what if, we make that trade for our # 1 pick in 2007, and a future pick or a player. Say, like we get Dwight Smith the safety, in free agency, and we trade Keith Davis to NO in some type of package deal. Now, this is all done after preseason, and the Saints see they will lose that draft pick for nothing. So, their bargaining is lower to work a trade.

This in turn will make our offense very explosive, and we will have a top RB for 10-12 years.

I am pointing to the early 70 years, when we made trades, we got Ed Too Tall Jones, next year in a trade we got Randy White, and 2 years in 1977, with Seattle we got Tony Dorsett. Tex Schramn and Gil Brandt, and even Tom Landry said, what kept them in all those playoffs games, super bowls was trades for players like Too Tall Jones, Randy White & Tony Dorsett.

With our young players already on offense with Jason Witten, Julious Jones (whom we could trade possibly later for a draft pick if we get Bush), Barber, Fasano TE, and on defense which wins championships we have Marcus Spears, Chris Canty, Hatcher, Ratliff, on defensive line, linebacker, James, Burnett, Demarcus Ware, Carpenter, and on defensive backfield, we have newman, williams, henry, reeves, beraiut if healthy, watkins, smith from saints if we get him, then look out,

also, in that trade if just if it happens, we make a swap in 3rd round or 2nd round with them, which that pick should be a high valuable draft pick with saints schedule and low talent of players.

What difference does free agency have with an unsigned draftee? How does Bush have more leverage now than a player did back then? The only trump card Bush has is to re-enter the draft. Why blame him for playing his but not blame Elway for playing his. You completely lost me on this one.

I don't know about all that but it is funny when guys get on here talking noise about some sorry, money hungry piece of crap overated punk and then start kissing their arse when they become a Cowboy.

My thoughts are that, if Bush does want to sit out this year & go into the 2007 draft, it's not for the money, anyway. He just wants to play for a decent or better team. If so, then he wouldn't mind at all if he ends up going in the top 15. It would give him a much better chance of going to a "contenda".

However, if this story IS true, I think Bush is pushing for a trade, ala Elway & Eli, as mentioned before. That way, he doesn't have to sit out a year, and he goes to a town that isn't facing the hurdles NO is.

This says nothing good about who Bush is as a person. If he really thought about it, this would be an excellent opportunity for Bush to help the city dig its way out of the muck & mire, and become a challenger in the mean time. The guy would be larger than life in not only the eyes of sports fans, but of humanitarians all over the world.

As a wise man once said, "Youth is wasted on the young".

I am thinking that too, he wants to go to a good caliber team, not have to wait 3-4 years for the team to be built.

I look at it like John Elway, he could have helped the team he was suppose to go to in the NFL draft the colts, but he didnt want too.

If you remember the Dallas Cowboys had more of a offer on the table for Elway, but the Broncos hoodwinked the Colts staff into supposedly higher draft picks, which wasnt the case.

I agree with you, he should help the Saints out, help the town, in the long run, he would be a hero to fans, the town, etc. At the same time, the Saints arent that bad a team, they have talent on the defensive side of the ball. Decent offense, and they got Drew Brees as a QB if he is healthy.

Yet, most QB's coming back from that type of injury, takes a full year to recover, just look at the Jets Pennington or whatever his name is, he came back to play too soon.
