Reggie "Hype" Bush or Not?

Reggie Bush is a pure phenom and anyone who denies that needs to watch more college football and not just their favorite team.

Bush is not a poor mans nobody. Theres really been nobody like him because he is allready probably the most versatile player in the NFL.

Doubt him all you want but Reggie Bush will find a way to make a big play in a 4 quarter football game.

He is a PLAYMAKER. :hammer:

it does matter.i dont want anybody doing good against this defense preseason or not. We have to put in in everybodys minds that this defense is not playing games this year. National televised game domination sure wouldnt hurt. And maybe if newman gets a pick 6 he will get the same recognition he got as a rook.

Good one, except, The Jags are the first oppenent, and why give them three weeks to prepare for the Cowboys' defense. I'd like to think Parcells is smart enough to throw a curve ball or two, and show a "weakness" that Jacksonville thinks Fred Taylor can exploit. then when they try it, the door is slammed shut, and poor Fred has nothing else in his backpack.

Also remember that we play the Saints in the regular season, so you don't want to tip your hand too much.

I dislike pre-season previews of regular season games.

With a bad o-line like he has, a good D like Dallas has, and a gameplan to make sure he doesn't get outside, I think he'll have average results.

It's just preseason, but the Titans shut him down other than his one outside run. None of those guys on D seemed to realize he was going to beat them all to the corner.

exactly, if you just play contain on the outside, he will put up pedestriain numbers. THe huys in the NFL are bigger, faster, and actaully play Defense, unlike college. Reggie Bush will learn the hard way

My feeling is he will get a dose of reality and get shutdown against the boys.

Thoughts?

Bush IMO is the best rookie running back coming into the league I have EVER witnessed

Bush is nothing but a poor mans barry sanders, he relies purley on hisc utback ability and speed. If we just contain the backside, Bush will have zero success.

Bush is a more complete back right now than Sanders ever was

he has as much speed and elusiveness as Sanders did, but he is a FAR superior receiver and a better inside runner as well...if he doesnt get hurt he's gonna have a sensational career

David

Reggie Bush is more Marshall Faulk than Barry Sanders by a LONG SHOT!

Bush is one heck of recieving threat. There is not a linebacker in the LEAGUE that can hang with Reggie Bush... hell most safeties probably can't even hang with him.

The 44 yard run he pulled of against the Titans is exactly the same stuff he did at USC... that 1 run right there gives some indication that he'll still have succes in the NFL using the same moves he did at USC.

Reggie Bush is amazing. I think he's more than just a perimeter running threat. I watched the Tennessee game and he's more than willing to cut up and take what's there. And he's not so easy to bring down, IMO. Doesn't take a great deal of direct shots.

Great receiver. We all know that.

I think it's pretty easy for many to discount a young player like this because he is unproven. Emmitt definitely had his share of naysayers coming out of Florida. And many folks were insulted seventeen years ago when Barry Sanders came in being hailed as Sayers-esque.

The baton gets passed, I think. Reggie's talent is insane. God willing, he will get the opportunity to write a new chapter as NFL greats go.

As it pertains to our game Monday Night, I could care less how he does. I hope we continue to progress and both clubs escape with minimal injuries.

the kid pulled off a pretty nifty run that I hadnt seen too many times outside of tecmo bowl, however I stay convinced we will shut him down.

Look at that run....look at the angles the titan defenders took to him from the snap. It is horrific. That run was a handout in the style of a high school defense.

That was the example of how not to play defense. The DE crashed into the pile instead of containing like he was told in pee-wee and bush just out ran him. There were 3 or so guys that broke containment and Bush just out ran him. Any RB with some speed would have gotten 44 yrds on that play.

The rest of the game he had 5 rushes for 15 yrds. This is the same way he played in college. He would have a few highlight runs that would boot his stats, but be quiet the rest of the game.

uh no, its after seeing what he did for 4 yrs at a major powerhouse and against bigtime opponents

David

Lets see: kijana Carter; a bunch of guys from Nebraska; they all tore up college football and did nothing in the pros. Bush is no different- untill he does it against good D's in the PROS he is NOTHING.

Bush played only 3 years, and I wouldnt call many of their opponents big time in the Pac-10 (nor ND until last year), and he didnt even start but 2 games prior to this past season.

I reserve judgement. Now I am not saying that the guy doesnt look like a tremendous athlete. I am saying that playing behind one of the top lines in football, with one of the top QBs in football, with one of the best RBs (White) in football, he should have a pretty decent stat line (in college at least).

KiJana Carter is a poor example because he suffered a devastating knee injury his first preseason and was never the same

that said, if you cant watch Reggie Bush at USC and tell that he just is at a different level in terms of pure talent and overall ability there is something wrong...the guy has electric running skills and is a better receiver than most guys who ARE WR's
