Bush played only 3 years, and I wouldnt call many of their opponents big time in the Pac-10 (nor ND until last year), and he didnt even start but 2 games prior to this past season.

I reserve judgement. Now I am not saying that the guy doesnt look like a tremendous athlete. I am saying that playing behind one of the top lines in football, with one of the top QBs in football, with one of the best RBs (White) in football, he should have a pretty decent stat line (in college at least).

it isnt just his stats...look at what he does...he has tremendous pure running skills and is an awesome weapon as a receiver...he has great hands

I understand where you are coming from bro.

All I am saying is that he hasnt done it at this level yet. Players in the NFL that are scrubs were still likely at some point, all-city, all-state, blue chip recruits, all-conference, Heisman candidates, etc.

Look how much the Vick hype has fallen off. The guy can do things that no other QB in the league can do, yet on this level he has yet to really become a great QB that everyone expected him to be.

Yeah, he really sucks. The Saints should be shot for drafting him. He's no Juluis Jones, that's for sure. Great post.

Vick plays a different position that Bush. Terrible comparison. A quarterback has to do many more things to be great in the NFL than a running back does. Bush just has to rely on his instincts and God-given ability. I'm sure if the Cowboys drafted him, we would be doubting how great he's going to be. Christ, we would already have him in the Ring of Honor.

Lets see: kijana Carter; a bunch of guys from Nebraska; they all tore up college football and did nothing in the pros. Bush is no different- untill he does it against good D's in the PROS he is NOTHING.

What's Bobby Carpenter done in the pros? Nothing and people want him to start at linebacker. What has Tony Romo done in the pros? Nothing and people want him to be the starting quarterback. What has Pat Watkins done in the pros? Nothing and people want him to be the starting free safety. This point gets brought up every year and it makes no sense. Obviously no one who was drafted has played in the NFL but usually if you have a pair of eyes, you can see a special talent when it comes along. Wait, is LeBron James still having trouble because he can't shoot from the outside? Just wondering.

The comparison isnt the position; it is the hype and as you say "god-given ability", Vick has both.

You think all a RB has to do is play instinctively ? Thats not going to be enough at the NFL Level in most cases.

Vick is a RB trying to play QB...he clearly has never (and will never) have the passing skills to be a great QB

Reggie Bush isnt a massive project

I'm sorry, but Vick was alot of hype for all the wrong reasons...his "god-given" ability was to run fast...he doesnt have any "god-given" passing skills...

like the other guy said, it was a bad comparison...Vick was a massive project coming into the league (and still is)...Bush isnt having to alter what he has done for years

I agree that Vick has yet to learn to read a defense beyond the front line. And wont likely (IMO) ever be a really good QB.

I feel that Bush playing against this level of competion will still be a good player but more like a Brian Westbrook (hopefully minus injuries) than like a Marshall Faulk.

I don't know how he will do tonight but I think Bush is the real deal and the folks here in Houston are sick about the fact that their team passed on him. I think Bush is tougher than some think and his ability on the field is outstanding. Plain and simple the guy is a playmaker

It is STUPID to make claims about a back that has never done anything in the NFL. Many very heralded backs have come from college and stank it up, or were just average in the NFL. Untill he does something in a real game in the regular season then he has shown NOTHING. I remember all the talk about Rocket Ismail and how he was going to tear up the NFL- he didn't.
And he was faster and quicker then Bush is.

Guys who have the ability that have great vision, has great change of direction and the ability to accelerate the way Bush does leads me to believe he will be an outstanding back in the NFL. I agree there is no certainty but if I had to put money on how Bush would do I'll say he will be a great back in this league.

I would take a poor mans Barry Sanders....

No kidding. My dad was an OK ST. alum and i grew up driving to Stillwater every Saturday to watch Barry and Thurman play.

When I saw that run of Bush's last week, It was like those days all over again. Reggie Bush I think has a better-than-most-1st-round-backs shot at becoming a star in the NFL. I wish we had a back with that type of potential.

So we cant make predictions because he hasnt played in a game yet?

And the whole Vick comparison is bad. Vick could be a phenom but he has screwed his own self over by trying to sit in the pocket and not do what he does best.

Until Mike Vick decides his legs are his biggest weapon again he will not ever be that good because the kid is just not accurate with the football, but when he starts to run he is very dabgerous.

We agree on Bush but on Vick if his best asset is his legs and his ability to run then he has no business being a QB unless Atl plans on running the option. Having a QB who can move is a great thing but in the NFL you better be able to drop back and make throws. DC are not going to continue to chase after Vick they will contain him in the pocket and force him to throw and if he can't do it then Alt has a big problem at QB

Bush is a more complete back right now than Sanders ever was

he has as much speed and elusiveness as Sanders did, but he is a FAR superior receiver and a better inside runner as well...if he doesnt get hurt he's gonna have a sensational career

David

Uh, no.

From what I've seen, Barry's inside running was better than Bush's is now. I'll give you that Bush is a better reciever, though. As much elusiveness? As much as I like Bush, I dunno if i can say that either. But the speed and the cutback ability is the same.

In Vicks first year as a Starter that was his best year.

The reason?

Because he wasn't affraid to run. Its a lot easier to say your going to contain Vick than actually doing it when he decides to take off.

The kid went into Green Bay and I believe was the 1st person to ever take down Green Bay in Lambeau in the playoffs.

If Vick will get back to what he does best and what got him in the league then the Falcons will be better off.

If Vick wants to be a passer then theyd be better off with Bledsoe because Vick just isnt accurate at all.

Personally I wouldn't want Vick on my team because even when he's doing what he does best I still dont think thats the way you win championships in this league.

Give a DC enough time to find a QB weakness and they will stop him. Vick is a QB in the NFL not a college QB. Any time he gets an ankle injury that slows him down a bit what is Alt to do? The job of a QB is to get his weapons involved and to be able to deliver the ball to them if he can't then he is nothing more than a RB playing the QB position and atl is foolish to continue having him at QB but then that really is alt problem. I think Vick is one of the most over hyped QB in the NFL and does not posses the skills needed for the position.
