Remainder of season probably doesn't matter

Washington has a decent team that puts out effort every week. Philly was bound to lose a game. No team is going to play knockout football every week. Philly still found a way to beat Indy who has a win over KC and they beat the Texans by 12 points after getting behind early. They beat both those teams on the road. The Texans out played the Cowboys for most of the game. They were imposing their will on us in a few situations. This was a very discouraging performance by the Cowboys. They lost two games last season after scoring 50 points the previous week, and they almost did it again today. Either this is what the Cowboys are or they simply can’t get motivated to play every week. They remind me of the team they were last year another one and done playoff team.
They lost to the Football Team because they turned the ball over multiple times and had a bone-headed penalty late in the game. I’m not saying Dallas is on par with the Eagles, maybe they are, maybe they’re not. But if the Eagles turn the ball over against a good team, it’s likely they lose.

I disagree. How a team plays in a December matters. Most teams- even good ones- can’t just “turn it on” when the playoffs start. It matters how the Cowboys play from here on IMO if they want to go into the playoffs strong.

Evidence- the winners of the last 3 SBs all played very well in their last 5 games
  • 2019- SB champ Chiefs were 5-0 in last 5 reg season games that year.
  • 2020- SB champ Bucs were 4-1 last 5 reg season games.
  • 2021- SB champ Rams were 4-1 last 5 reg season games.
How well you are playing at the end of the season matters quite a bit. Especially if you are coming from the #5 seed where you will likely be playing on the road throughout. A sad reminder- the Cowboys haven’t won a road playoff game since Jan. 17, 1993 when we upset the niners to advance to SB 27.

The Cowboys have 4 games left. This team needs to get focused and play better the rest of the season because regardless of seeding, how well you play late in the season matters in the playoffs.
Damn good point.

Man, I’ve never been a fan of full throttle all the way through. I think you have to take your breaks and get your impact players rested. Yeah, it can bite you sometimes but I think the odds are in your favor if you rest.
You could be right and maybe its Cowboys history that has me feeling the opposite but I don't like resting guys. I think killing momentum is a real thing. Now don't get me wrong i'd love to get that #1 seed for sure.......but I think if we are playing at a high level I keep going for as long as I possibly can.

Every team has a bad game and that was their bad game. They struggled the following week against Indy, but have been lights out ever since. It wasn’t just the turnovers today that caused the Cowboys to struggle. After a great start their offense sputtered out. Our defense didn’t play that well and didn’t have a sack the entire game. This is starting to look very similar to the team we had last season at this time but Dak wasn’t turning the football over as much as he has been this season. There are some red flags with this team right now.

We're tied with the Vikings for 2nd best record in the NFC but since we beat them we'd be #2, but because the #1 happens to be in our division we won't even get a home game in the playoffs. Sucks.
We could if we play 6 or 7. Although I kind of like our chances playing on the road. We've seen this team repeatedly play tight in home playoff games.

Cowboys (10-3) unlikely to move ahead of the Eagles (12-1).

4 games left and we have to win head to head and then pick up *another* game. Then we win tiebreakers for division losses.

Odds against us but not that unlikely *assuming we beat them* which is a given requirement.

Cowboys (10-3) unlikely to move ahead of the Eagles (12-1).

Cowboys nearing a lock to make the playoffs.

  • Other wildcard teams:
    • NYG 7-5-1
    • Commodes 7-5-1
    • Seattle 7-6

NYG plays the Commodes which means only 1 can possibly win the next 4 games.
I’m not giving up on winning the East.

Imagine the bucs fall apart and Carolina wins the division......

looking very possible. Bucs play Bengals next week and Panthers play Steelers. I would expect Panthers to win and Bucs to lose which would put Carolina in first since they beat the Bucs once already. Bucs play cards and Panthers play Lions following week. That could give Bucs a W and Panthers a L but then the following week they go head to head. Good chance that game is for the division. Esp worth watching also because this is likely our first round playoff opponent. I’d much rather play Carolina.

The Cowboys can still win the division, but they must defeat the Eagles. If that is impossible, then why bother having playoffs at all.

It's not impossible, however, the probable/possible play-off meeting is what's important, not Christmas Eve. We can give it our all and devise our schemes, but what happens in the play-offs (the Eagles will be ready). Dont show everything we've got.

For those insistent on us needing home field advantage, the: Texans, Buccs, 49ers play-off, and even Bronco's(blueprint game), shows that we suffer under pressure of home field advantage

if the eagles lose another game outside of cowboys game, which doesn't look likely,

so we are set in our spot. its tampa at this point. and most probably as nobody wants that division although carolina is making a run at it.

my honest opinion, I would have prefered the 7th spot, play the vikings and then second game either against giants or SF. easier path to the NFCCG.

I don't see it either but I also didn't see them losing to the Commanders either. Its also asking them to sweep the Giants. Which SHOULD happen. I don't know I mean all of it doesnt' matter if the Cowboys don't win I guess that's the first step.

Bears probably will be tanking.......I'd like to think Giants and Saints will still be playing for something.
Eagles have incentive to beat the Saints since they own the Saints first-round pick. I listened to some of the Giants players press conferences, and they concede that us and the Eagles have too much talent to overcome. I think yesterday’s butt raping took its toll. Justin Fields will have to generate 400 yards of offense on his own for the Bears to even sniff an upset. It doesn’t look good for us winning the NFCE.

Time is running out for the division, getting healthy might be more important. Bears/Saints are our only hope, which is a huge ask. Eagles have had a tremendous season, but I still believe the best team in the conference is out West with the 49ers, want no part of that matchup.

There have been so many seasons where a division front runner seems to have a lock on the #1 seed only to lose focus and the last game to an inferior team which resulted in losing the division championship.

In 1970 the Cowboys were in third place with five games remaining. They were two games behind the 1st place team and a game behind the 2nd place team.

Five weeks later they are the division champion.

The Cowboys can still win the division, but they must defeat the Eagles. If that is impossible, then why bother having playoffs at all.
Teams sometimes letdown after they get into the playoffs. Eagles just did that. Both teams head into trap games this week on the road, before their showdown.

No it doesn’t…..Commanders helped us out and sadly that might be the only help we get.

The Eagles/Cowboys game 12/24 means nothing. Win or lose it's an irrelevant game. Cowboys are 3 games up in wild card race. The road to the Superbowl goes through Philly in January. That's the only game that matters.

Cowboys are going to get a road game in Tampa. Then probably going to Minnesota.
