Remainder of season probably doesn't matter

I hope the players and coaches don't have this ridiculous thought process that the rest of the regular season doesn't matter...

They played below their level in the Indy game with penalties and a critical turnover and should’ve lost that game. And would’ve were it not for Matt Ryan’s ineptness and lack of mobility. And Hurts’ legs. They ran that designed QB draw 4 or 5 times for critical converts, including twice on the game winning drive. Indy had zero clue how to defend or even considered defending it.

They play that same game against Chicago and they stand a good chance at losing because Fields ain’t no Ryan.

This week’s Jaguars game is going to be telling. I’ve had that one penciled in as the most likely to lose of the 3 games leading up to the rematch against the Eagles. And it’ll be an L if the Cowboys play like they did yesterday in which case it won’t matter what the Eagles do from here on out.

If the Cowboys lose to Jacksonville after the performance they displayed yesterday they’ll limp into the playoffs. They probably won’t even be motivated for Philly the following week knowing the NFC East race is over.

Just play all the backups and rest the starters until the playoffs...

That would be beyond stupid. Lol We need to keep our starters sharp and Dak needs to work out some of the kinks in his game. The Cowboys aren’t playing playoff caliber football right now. If the playoffs were next week they would be looking at another one and done. You can‘t allow players to sit on the sidelines going stale until the playoffs start. With only a few weeks left in the season we need to start building some momentum. San Francisco and Philly are rolling right now.

Short term IR is 4 games.

They can put a bunch of starters on IR and bring the entire practice squad to finish out the season.

Use Will Grier at QB, Josh Ball at LT, A. Collins at RT. Start Davis at RB. Tolbert and Turpin at WR.

Start the deep snapper, Matt Overton (6-1, 254) at Center.

Let's see Takk at DE and Nahshon Wright starting at CB. Let Diggs rest his injured hand.

It's a reverse phycology approach. The 1st playoff opponent will be overconfident. Their fans will create hundreds of threads prior to the game about it being a "trap game" and another 100 predicting a 100-0 win for their team...

We're tied with the Vikings for 2nd best record in the NFC but since we beat them we'd be #2, but because the #1 happens to be in our division we won't even get a home game in the playoffs. Sucks.
So you think were going to win out the rest of the way?

They should definitely rest players in the final two games, especially at Tennessee on a short week. I would try to rest 50% of the starters (especially the key players) at Tennessee and then the other 50% at Washington in the final game.

I tend to agree with you because I don't see the Cowboys losing all 4 of their last games. But they play the Jags, Eagles, Titans, and Washington, all in the playoff hunt, except maybe the Jags. But they just beat the Titans and are only 2 games out of first in their division. And, they play the Titans again the last week of the regular season.

The Eagles (12-1) play the Bears, Cowboys, New Orleans and Giants. They may lose to the Giants only because they will rest their starters like they did last year against Dallas. The Giants might still be playing for a playoff spot.

Washington (7-5-1) plays the Giants, 49ers, Browns, and Dallas. They probably lose to the 49ers but they could beat the Giants and Browns. Who wants to go to Washington the last week of the season needing a win for a playoff spot? Not me.

The Giants (7-5-1) have Washington, Vikings, Indy and the Eagles. They could lose all of those games.

The other team in the hunt in the NFC is the Seahawks (7-6). Their next 3 games are brutal. 49ers, Chiefs, Jets, and then the Rams who I think are tanking.

The Cowboys at 10-3 at worst can finish a 10-7. One of Washington and the Giants can get to 11 wins and the Seahawks can get to 11 wins. Washington and the Giants can also tie again and both finish with 10 wins 5 losses and 2 ties which would put them ahead of Dallas if they lose out.

Next week is crucial. If the Cowboys win and the Washington Giants game does not end in a tie, the Cowboys clinch a playoff spot.

Given the schedules I think it highly unlikely the teams chasing Dallas will all get to 10 or 11 wins. But I would rahter not scoreboard watch. I would rather the Cowboys just beat the Jags next week and secure a playoff spot. Losing the last 4 games would not be a good thing heading into the playoffs.

I think the giants are done.

I could see Detroit leapfrogging them and getting the final playoff spot.

Washington will back into the other playoff spot.

Probably. But I don’t think they’ll lose after their performance yesterday. I thought the Jaguars would be the challenge into the 3 game AFC South run, but as it turns out the Texans game probably was.

I thought they would split with GB & the Vikings (beating GB & losing to the Vikings), but felt very comfortable they would beat the Vikes after blowing the GB game. I feel the same about this week’s game after the performance they put up against the Texans. But like you said, if they do lose, it’ll speak volumes about the rest of the season.

Starting to look that way.
Keep hoping the egirls will get upset
But they keep taking care of business.

We had our shot to control it all but a epic collapse against GB did us in. Haven't lost since but doesn't look like it will matter. We'd be first in every other division in the NFL (or at least tied) except ours. We might play a team with a losing record in the wild card at home. Also sucks that Indy blew their game to Philly a few weeks ago.

Eagles have Washington, Bears, Saints left aside from us. Not sure where a loss comes from with those teams. Yes, I know they lost to Washington already but do we expect that to happen again?

Giants were always frauds. Daniel Jones isn't a good QB. They were skating by in all these close games but they were always going to crash at some point. Same for Washington. They are frauds as well.

I'm giving Chicago a chance: They practice against Justin Fields everyday and he's a very mobile QB like Hurts.

Hi, my name is "Week Number One". Do you remember me?

In case you need a reminder, I'm what happened when the Cowboys rested all their starters for the preseason. The Cowboys played far and away their worst game of the season by doing this.

Resting all of their key players for multiple weeks is a good way to get knocked out in round 1 . . . possibly by the same Tampa Bay team.
