He’s the same guy who has never been able to overcome adversity going back to his HS days. He has always folded like a tent when the chips are down. A few here tried to tell you this but your love for him blinded you.
You make a lot of things up.

He looks AWFUL this season.
He's never been accurate but he's throwing scared right now. Everything is off his back foot or stepping sideways.
He can't run anymore
He still can't read a defense
He looks lost on the sidelines

I know the lack of a running game is part of it...but the added muscle/weight and the injuries have taken away any running ability. He's basically Tom Brady without everything that made him special. That's not a good thing at all

This talk about no weapons...it's basically the same group as last season, minus a retired and broken Gallup.

To think if they just would have waited on paying him, all this wouldn't feel so bad. We'd be looking at top the top QBs in the draft....at least having a glimmer of hope for the future.

Now it's the $60 million dollar train wreck for the near future.

Did he actually give a definitive date of that influx of talent he was gonna display? His next contract year maybe?

Nah, just lies you say when you think people will forget.

Oh, but during the bye week him and CD got right, they worked really hard, on a half football field against nothing but air.

This is very simple. If Dak plays bad football teams like the Giants or last year's Washington or the year before Eagles or anybody else that's horrible, He has great games.
If he plays stout defenses, he simply falls apart. It's always been that way, ever since the injury.
It's sad. It truly is, but the fact is, he no longer has the skills to compete in the national football league. I don't care about contracts or expectations. The skills are just not there.
It's over for him, or us I should say.

It baffles me how only a handful on this site called this fraud out many years ago. If his past play at different levels didn’t prove the point, seeing his limitations on the field at the pro level just jumped out at you. Just because you put on the helmet with the star and put up garbage time, fantasy and Madden stats doesn’t make you an average QB. Once a bum…always a bum.

It's no secret I'm a supporter and have been patient but I think his confidence is gone. It's been on the edge since the season started after becoming the highest-paid QB, and knowing media/fans expectations and criticism increase x 1000.
*** "My best football is coming" is a player trying to convince himself how good he THINKs he is
*** "Jump off the bandwagon if you want"
*** I see a QB running plays with no rhythm, cohesiveness, or confidence in teammates or coaches.
*** Maybe it's just me but I'm not feeling a pulse from Dak. You look around the league at other QBs, you can feel/see them laying everything in the line to make a play. Not saying he's quitting but close to being forced to do something you don't believe in.
*** Just me, but I think the pressure of his contract and knowing he doesn't have all the tools is getting to him. BUT, that's on him....... he should never signed
knowing he didn't have enough weapons. Many have said Jerry should have waited until after the season and that is true but Dak should have waited also.
He either knew or should have known the odds of winning this season were min and that he and the contract would get the bulk of criticism for a losing season.
*** I am afraid his troubles are just starting. He could lose his locker room/teammates.

Bench him already! He sounds like a politician than a reasonable football player with a decent IQ!

I haven't been a supporter but I'll defend him for a second. He is who he always has been. A product of the players and scheme around him. When everything is clicking, he is more than capable of executing the role and looking pretty good. When things are bad around him, he looks bad. That is the case now.

On one hand, I'm pretty confident that if you improve the line and the run game and WR2, Dak will go back to being around the 10th best QB in the NFL.

OTOH, you can't make guys like that the highest paid player in NFL history. You just can't. Guys like this are available in the offseason regularly. Russell Wilson is playing on a vet min contract. Winston looked pretty good on Sunday. Mayfield is playing like a top 10 QB. All of those guys were formerly in a situation like Dak is now, took the blame and then moved to a better team and look better.

Unless you have a truly great QB (and that includes the ability to run), you can't give out a mega deal like this.

Thats another example of missunderstanding. Like with JJ whos "all-in" comment was meant completely different. Which he explained pretty convincing to us uneducated ones.

What Dak meant is that he is planing (together with Jerry Jones) to found a new business which will produce footballs. Their goal is to produce the best footballs there are and also grab the de-facto standard away from Wilson.

I hope that clears things.

If you put any number of NFL starting quarterbacks in that position last season I would argue the results would have been similar.

Cowboys defense largely played lights out during the regular season including a high number of takeaways and excellent starting field positions for the offense.

He had/has arguably the best kicker in the league. E.g., people rinse Rodgers for his play this season yet missed kicks have effectively lost the team 3 games.

Cowboys played teams on average with the worst pass defense than any other team in the league and it was a soft schedule. They got blown out by good teams like the 49ers and Bills so it wasn't an impressive season by Prescott when it's actually broken down. He wasn't the difference maker as is being shown this season.

He goes as far as the team carries him.

The devil is in the detail. E.g., people are surprised that quarterbacks like Darnold, Mayfield and Cousins are playing well...why? They are actually playing on good teams...meaning they look like very good quarterbacks...weird.
I live in tampa and watch the bucs nearly every week. Mayfield lost his two best WRs, arguably a couple best in the league. STILL had 330 yards and 3 tds. Against a good team.

Right now Id take Mayfield over Dak for stable productive QB even with challenges.

So you don't think last season was a good season? He was voted 2nd ALL-PRO by his peers and coaches........but that guy playing now is night and day different.
Keep trying to get it through your skulls, last year, Dak's "big year" where he got his first All Pro bid, he faced the weakest pass defense schedule in the league. It was a mirage.

Mayfield has really impressed me. He's playing great football and credit to him after what happened in Cleveland.

Just compare the Giants opener and the Cardinals game. That will tell you all you have to know about Dak. This whole runner up MVP thing was the most laughable NFL related thing I have ever seen. Just proves that the "experts" are right and wrong about things just like us. The only difference is, they have more time to think about the NFL because it's their job.

And so now it's the contract why he's playing bad? He can't handle the pressure of being a well paid QB? Oh come on! You guys just never stop, do you? He took a similiar contract once before you know.

He is NOT a good QB. Simple as that. Why? Because he is inconsistent. Noone ever said that he can't have a good play, or game, or series of games. But ever since he got into the league he fell apart in clutch moments. That's why his reg season stats are meaningless. And Jerry doesnt have the skills to put a team around him, that could take him all the way.

Again, the game against SF last Sunday didnt bring anything new to the table. They will win quite a few more games with him too. That just changes nothing. The outcome in January will be the same.

I actually have similar thoughts that Dak's confidence is waning and possibly he is getting over anxious forcing him into bad decisions. Part of it is the state of the team particularly the weakened offense, and the defense. Comments he is making seem defiant and hollow bravado this season. As you indicated he may be overwhelmed feeling too much pressure. A fractured mind can be even worse than a physical injury.
