Remember The Griping About Trading Fasano?

You're out of your mind if you think anyone was triple covering Bennett. Any DC would be fired if they are moving coverage to a guy with 15 friggin catches, especially with Austin and Witten on the field.

If there were 2 or 3 guys around Bennett it means he either ran the wrong route or ran right into the middle of tight zone coverage.

It was probably zone coverage yes, but I recall 2 or 3 times the ball coming his way and him having several guys right next to him before the ball even got there.

That he managed to come down with at least one of those despite getting popped pretty hard in midair as he caught it impressed me and made me remember it.

Bennett didn't get much attention from opposing defenses last year and responded with 20 for 283 and 4TDs on limited opportunities (I'm not sure he failed to make a catch on ANY of his targets his rookie season). Opposing Ds most certainly scheme him way more than they scheme Phillips.

that's just because of the area Bennett ran his route to

Nobody schemes for a 2nd player with 35 career catches. Maybe, maybe early in the season if someone paid way too much attention to the training camp film and hype, but certainly not later and absolutely not after the emergence of Austin.

The guy having trouble running routes and catching the ball is the one you make beat you, not the other way around.

My problem with Bennett is that he does not get how fortunate he is to be playing in the NFL. His work ethic, concentration and focus is all questionable.

That is your perception and it probably goes back to Hard Knocks and I don't think it is true. I am not saying he is perfect, but no one truly knows what kind of work ethic he has. That is behind the scenes stuff.

Bennett was a bit of a project when he was drafted. He came from a run oriented system in college if you could even call it that. The coaching he got at A&M was poor, so he had/has some things to learn. His true evaluation if he has it or not will come after his 3rd year.

Fasano on the other hand came from Charlie Weiss' system and was supposed to be ready made to make the transition to the NFL and especially Parcell's offense. Instead he did nothing. He was not a good blocker in Dallas and did nothing as a receiver. He got outplayed by Tony Curtis for goodness sake. Even now he is not doing that much in Miami as their #1 tight end. The top tight ends in the league have single seasons that are better than what Fasano has done in his two years in Miami. Heck, Dallas Clark in just this single year has surpassed what Fasano has done during his whole four year career.
