"I don't know anyone at anytime, especially in the NFL, who wouldn't take a quarterback who is 27-12 over 39 games," Irvin said. "Every coach, every GM, every owner would raise their hand and say, 'Give me that guy.' Give me that guy, that's the bottom line. I come through the airport and I have people come up to me and say, 'Do you think we should get rid of Romo?' I want to ground all the planes and get on the microphone and say, 'Are you people serious? Are you people serious? Stop it already. Will you stop with this mess? You are reading too much into the Jessica (Simpson) stuff.' "

Irvin, the Cowboys Hall of Fame receiver, went on to say that Romo didn't help his cause with his philosophical take after the Philadelphia flop last season.

"That being said, to be talking about getting rid of Tony is absolutely...Can we get Drew Bledsoe back out here just for a week, so you guys can fall back in love with Tony?" Irvin said. "Let's sign Drew Bledsoe back for a week. Because sometimes when you have a pretty girl for so long, you forget how pretty she is. But when you put an ugly girl next to her, 'Oh, no, I'm really doing well.' And maybe we need to bring Drew back, so we can back to 'Oh, no, we're really doing well.' Because 27-12 over the first 39, come on, guys."

But what about the fact Romo is 0-2 in the playoffs?

"At least you get an opportunity at a playoff win when you are 27-12. When you are 12-27, you don't even get the opportunity for a playoff win...You have a young guy, 39 games, that's not much experience, so you see there is a whole lot of room to get better. You got to give it time. These things were being said about (New York Giants quarterback) Eli (Manning) two years ago, and Eli went on and won a Super Bowl. No one says that now about him."

I appreciate you reposting this because it does lend some perspective... but it doesn't make me feel any better after what I just witnessed in the new stadium.

I said it in another thread. I will say it again. This group of guys on offense are fighters, they play for 60 minutes. After all the crap, some bad luck, some bad plays the offense had the ball with 7 minutes to go needing a touchdown. Romo hits witten on a huge third down and they go and score.

this offense always has its composure and it neve quits. Like the seattle playoff game for instance, romo not only led 1 drive to get us in scoring position, thanks to the witten fumble he actually did it twice in the fourth quarter.

the defense is handed a first and 20 and do not even force the giants to need 4th down to keep going. Its the same old same old. All the prima donnas are on defense, all the money, the head coach's specialty. And we lose with the defense on the field.

The secondary played a game tonight that looked straight out of dave campo's playbook via the late 90s and early 00's.

as long as the offense has to account for the defense they will be aggressive and take chances. And chance is a horrible game to play.

Nah. Not at all. I know it won't happen every time. I strongly believe Romo will have some really good games. Unfortunately they will continually be overshadowed by games like this (often during pivotal games). This will happen no more than 30% of the time but that will be a season determining 30% more often than not. He will put up great stats though. No doubt... I want to rally around the guy so badly but trusting him is becoming increasingly difficult when force fed games like this. Let me also add that he is not solely to blame. The Defense is a monumental FAIL.

I think Wade is the one that needs to go.

We can win with Jerry at GM, but I have zero faith in a Wade Phillips coached team playing in December.

Wade has to be the only HC who doesn't coach during the game. You never see him talking to players on the sidelines or anything.

The only problem I have with your argument is that we basically put the giants offense in scoring position automatically in 3/4ths of their scoring, including directly giving them 7 points. You can't really blame the defense for those 20 something points.

Nah, you don't get it. This isn't Tom Brady and he had a bad game. I've seen this way too many times from him.

Not at all. The defense played great for 58 minutes.

But that last drive was horrid. Romo's horrible play, Felix's fumble, and all that crap would have been forgiven and it would have been a non-issue had we stopped them.

We had them on a 1st and 20 on their own 15 or so, and allowed them to march right down the field. When we needed to make a stand, we failed to do so.

they were accountable for 26 points. The two turnovers hurt from romo.

The felix fumble really hurt.

But the secondary was awful. Even if you are in a bad spot, if its third and 6 or whatever you can not commit penalties, you can not be completely out of position.

Romo and the turnovers have nothing to do with jenkins being lost, hamlin just being useless, newman absolutely falling apart right in front of our eyes and scandrick all of a sudden not tackling.

we were lucky the giants didnt pass more. We have a secondary full of players who appear to be overmatched, throw in carpenter's poor play and we could be looking at some really bad defense in the future.

Eli had two braindead plays tonight where we should have had picks and our guys couldnt make them.

It's just feeding the illusion that is Romo. Yes, he is going to look good, just like that good looking girl, until you find out that she has herpes. That's what Romo is; a smoking hot girl with genital herpes. On the outside, there's no reason why you shouldn't be with her but once you get that special alone time after spending all this money on a date you just end up getting burned in the end.

I on the other hand have withdrawn my expectations from Romo. I really wanted to believe, I really did. I bought into it after week 1, but I just can't do it anymore. I don't know what the answer is, but it ain't Romo.

I will bet you if you take his good games, they outweigh his bad games at least 2-1 maybe 3-1.

So collectively, we have an average team.

I already knew we would suck on defense especially if Ware wasn't doing anything. But we have the tools on offense to things especially with our running game. No matter how the defense plays, the offense has to do it's part.

ANd likewise for the offense, no matter how the offense plays, the defense has to do it's part.

The defense didn't stop anyone, and the offense gave the giants the ball in scoring position. We suck right now.

Given that he's 28-13 as a starter, it certainly hasn't been very many times. Even if you get rid of Romo and somehow find another Pro Bowl quarterback (good luck), you're still going to see it occasionally.
