Like if Romo goes down, it gives Weeden a chance to redeem himself? Would that be "not all bad" too?

That all but guarantees the first overall pick in next year's draft. Not bad at all.

Players are going to get blocked. Holloman has to keep his head on a swivel. It wasn't Wilber's fault Holloman ran into him.

The cut back is there, he's the Mike. Can't expect him to make it to the flats with that cut back open up the middle..., that's the OLB's job. If everybody gets blocked then its up to the FS!

The CB has to protect the corner and make the RB cut back, who ever gets blocked must stand his blocker up and hold his ground filling the hole. Help should be coming from the OLB and FS!

Holloman had a good game.

Will he have a bad play/get beaten from time to time?

Don't they all?

It's still not an excuse to run into your teammate

That's my point. Holloman didn't have a good game. He made some plays but he also made mistakes and gave up plays. Some people here don't/won't realize that.

Did you expect him to have a mistake free game? He was a college Safety the played some LB in his final college season. He practiced all of training camp as an outside LB. He missed several games and weeks of practice with an injury. His 1st time to ever practice or play MLB came after Lee was injured. After all of that, he was probably better in that final game at MLB than veteran Ernie Sims was in any game of the season. Holloman's performance was probably better than several games that Bruce Carter played in 2013.

Not at all. I like Holloman and his potential. I wanted to point out he made mistakes as well. Sims was awful last season so it's not saying much.

If holloman steps up in a big way, that's the only way you can spin this into a positive. He would have to be damn good which I don't foresee.

Lee has missed games every year with injuries but we've had him for at least part of the season every year and he's contributed to some wins. What makes his season ending injury such a crippling blow is the defense just lost Ware and Hatcher this offseason. The defense hasn't taken the field in any single game the past 4 seasons without all 3 of those players. The Cowboys lost their pass rush from last season and their best pass defender who led the team with 4 int's in 2013. There isn't an LB in the league who's been better in coverage than Lee who's led all NFL LB's the past 4 seasons with 11 int's two of which were returned for scores. Several have been trying to put a positive spin on the loss of Lee but like Ware he was one of the teams leaders.

The loss of the Cowboys top 3 defensive players from last season 2 of which provided 17 of the teams 34 sacks in 2013 and the other who provided a team leading 4 int's has already put the Cowboys hopes for the 2014 season more than halfway down the toilet. The Cowboys are going to be scrambling all season moving players around on defense trying to find something that will keep the team in contention by Dec. We all know more injuries will occur it happens every season with this team. FANS keep trying to put a positive spin on Lee's loss but not even a great defense can survive the loss of their top 3 defensive players.

So in your opinion it's ok Holloman ran into Wilber because Wilber was getting blocked?

No, my opinion is Holloman took the correct angel to get to the RB, any running around Wilber is easy TD to the corner... There's no cutback up the middle, because Holloman did his job!

Fair enough but it still doesn't excuse not taking a quick look to see what's around you.

And my point is even the best players make mistakes in every game.

Nobody is perfect.

I'm sure he can get better with experience and at this point in time might just be our best option to replace Lee.
