Really? sacase just said the same thing! I have honestly not heard of that before! I learn something new everyday...

So, tell me...what is this all about? How does it work?

Just another great idea that came too late to take advantage of.

Mine was the one legged man in the butt kicking contest.

;)

I never knew that!

Hmmm...oh well, I try and stay out of trouble and the only lawyer I have had is a divorce lawyer years back, and he helped me out BIG TIME!

Of course, I only have one arm and one leg left, but...

Its their constitutional right to have representation.

blah blah blah, they're still idiots

*btw, I agree in legal representation cuz I'm thankful my public defender was pretty good*

Not that it has anything to do with the thread but I saw it on fark.com earlier today and had a laugh over it...

I think it falls under the whole fruit of the poisonous tree thing, but then again I am not a lawyer. Peplaw should know.

Cops can't go and do whatever they want to bust people, they have rules to follow. The cop broke them, he pays the price.

Here in VA there was a huge accident about a month ago, about 5 people died becuase there was a motorcycle going over 100mph and a cop decided to chase him. That caused and accident where a couple people died and the motorcycle guy got away. Guess who got in trouble....the cop. He didn't follow the department procedure. Sad part is, he was seriously injured in the crash...

LOL, he didn't break any rules, he had prior knowledge that PacMan was breaking the law, and acted accordingly, that's like if you're a police officer and a rat on the street tips you to an impending shooting, you get the guys before anything serious happens, c'mon people

I am not really ragging on lawyers by saying this.

You are right every person has the right to legal representation...just as every lawyer not listed as a public defender has the right to turn down a client seeking his or her services.

A mass murderer has the right to legal representation. The court can appoint him a public defender.

If he goes to a lawyer out of a private firm that lawyer does not have to take him on as a client. He CHOOSES to take him on as a client.

It's truly nothing personal.

I hope you're one of the good ones.

Sounds to me like the motorcycle guy caused the accident, not the cop...

Darn bikers.

So I'm a biker, according to your departmental procedures I can go through that town at 100 and the cops can't chase me ??? Is that what we are coming to these days ? Steal a bike, blast through town at 100 and dump the bike in the woods or a parking lot, walk away and never be chased.

I wouldn't even need a lawyer.

The stupid lawsuits are allowed to go through by stupid judges. The Mcdonalds case with the dumb broad and the hot coffee was just one of the worst examples.

Actually if you do some research on the McDonalds coffee case with that old woman you will find out that it was not a situation where they made the ruling to award the woman but it was made to punish McDonalds because McDonalds had been previously warned multiple times about something and they would just blow it off.

However all most people know is that some old woman spilt some coffee on her lap and McD's was sued.

That case was FAR from one like fat people suing Mcdonalds for making them fat.
