I hear various stories about him being arrogant, full of himself, flashy, short fused and childish when it comes to authority so my question is WHY in the world would we want that person in dallas?

even if that is not true, do we really want a Michael Vick-like QB?

he brings hype and that is all in my opinion, we will see and honestly it doesnt matter to me how he does in Cleveland. Our need was ANYWHERE else on this team than at QB, glad we picked up the BP for this team who happened to be the BPA IMO at #16.

When you have so many holes like the Cowboys do, you don't have the luxury of using your valuable resources (picks, cap ) on one position. It doesn't matter if he was the BPA when we picked or not. That is the dumbest thing you can do. It's a kind of thing that got this team in trouble in the past.

I hear you. But If Romo goes down again, he's 35 next year. I guess the good news is that we'd be in play for Mariotta, Hundley, Winston in that scenario. I was fine with Martin, but dont say that Manziel was rated higher, just shut up. I know its wishful thinking. I am more concerned about losing that 3rd rd pick (starter) for 1 guy.

I have this fear that Jerry thinks the FO is savvy enough to grab another cast-off, UDFA to be a starter. In some regards, I think Romo, Ratliff/Austin (in prime) has given the org the idea that they are really smart

I really wonder if the media realize that there were other players in this Draft besides Johnny Manziel? I have never seen so much hype for one player in my entire life.

They didn't read my post, #125 :)

They drafted Escobar to replace Witten and Williams to replace Austin. The fact that they got rid of Ware and not resign Hatcher this year, I think the FO has a plan to replace the aging vets. They probably feel Romo's replacement isn't needed for at least another year or two.

The problem is it may really cost them in a year or 2 (i.e. 2-3 #1 picks). THe supply may not be there

Whether or not the Cowboys had Johnny as their top player is a moot point now.

We're all going to have to deal with the results of this draft, for better or worse.

People need to remember just ONE thing though - Johnny Manziel isn't a guaranteed star, but neither is Zach Martin. You can't say we passed on a surefire bust for a pro-bowl lineman because it's all just speculation.

Or six or seven, apparently.

If Romo declines like you are speculating, then we will have a good shot at a high pick. If he does well, then that's not bad either.

Not sure why everybody is pissing and moaning. So what if Manzel was number one on the board. Sheriff Floyd was 5th on their board last year and they passed on him. The draft board is a guide, it is not written in stone and there is no requirement that you have to take players in a certain order.

And for the guys saying that Romo is done and will only play 5 games and such, most of us really see it as a win win. If Romo plays the whole season and puts up good numbers, there is a chance we can go to the playoffs if the defense can keep from giving up 50 a game. On the other hand, if Romo plays just a handful of games and goes down with an injury, we put Weeden in at QB and proceed to lose every game.

We then have a top 5 pick in next year's draft to get our new QB then. So its really a win win scenario.

With our luck we'll be 8-8 again and end up in the middle of the draft as always.

Exxxxxxactly. That is indeed the bottom line. People on here have rallied around the "safe" OL pick because it helps them find comfort with not seeing JF in Dallas. Tell yourselves whatever makes you sleep well at night. It's all good. Just remember that the facts are the facts and swooning over Jerry's sudden 180 like behavior is a hollow undertaking.

Here are a couple of other facts:

1. Johnny Manziel was the BPA on Jerry's board when pick #16 was on the clock. Not your board... Jerry's.

2. Everyone anointed Jerry as having finally made the transition to solid team focused GM after playing it safe and drafting Martin. People were ready to bring out the bronze Jerry statues.

3. On day 2, Jerry quickly shows everyone that he is the same old Jerry by trading up and giving up our 2nd & 3rd round picks for Demarcus Lawrence.

This is all so comical to me. If you are going to take the risk, get the biggest bang for your buck. Go big or go home. Many that find success in life do so because they take measured risks. Without risk, there is no success. I couldn't give a crap whether it's JF or some other decent QB, you get someone in here to groom now... not later. We are dealing with a 34 year old QB that made his living scrambling before settling into the pocket over the past few years. He is not what he once was and the back surgery makes me even more skeptical that he will last a full season. Get a QB in here! Manziel would have been the ultimate potential risk/reward but Jerry decided not to nab his BPA. He will have to live with that decision and may not be happy if JF blossoms into the playmaker many of us think he will be.

Whatever... Please draft a QB today.

On another note, hats off to the Patriots for setting themselves up nicely a few years ago by drafting Ryan Mallette. They give themselves beautiful options that our brain trust can only dream of cultivating.

All you would hear about the Cowboys is when are they gonna start Manzeil.
Sturm doesn't sound pleased.

Questioning coziness of Cowboys FO with Romo.

If they had drafted Manzeil he would be criticizing them for adding the distraction.

Kinda reminds me of "The Boz". Football players that already have a nickname are probably gonna be ridiculed in the long run. The only thing the media loves better than building someone up is tearing them down.

Which I am absolutely convinced the DFW media was aching to do. I have no doubt whatsoever that they wanted him in Dallas as a spectacular failure.

For those saying "I don't see how you could be upset" with the Zack Martin pick - I told you so.
