I really wonder if the media realize that there were other players in this Draft besides Johnny Manziel? I have never seen so much hype for one player in my entire life.
We need to wait until Romo is totally crushed and in a wheelchair before we find his replacement. That's how we did it when Aikman left and if you remember there was a smooth transition to our next winning QB.
Sturm doesn't sound pleased.
Questioning coziness of Cowboys FO with Romo.
I heard a radio broadcast the other day where McClay said the team doesn't strictly go BPA in the absolute manner that most posters refer to. Said they evaluate both BPA and need, and basically work to find the best match to help the team.
I'm paraphrasing of course.
The first "real" job I ever had was throwing bales of synthetic rubber in boxes at the plant where one of the major tire companies makes most of their rubber. The bales of rubber were 80 lbs. and I did this on 12 hour rotating shift work for three years before moving to the laboratory. While I was throwing the rubber I had no issues and my back was fine as far as I knew. About 10 years later I started having back issues and while I have no way of proving it, I believe the repetitive motion of the rubber throwing job caused me to have bulging disc at L3-L4, L4-L5, & L5-S1. Two of those disc have since ruptured and had to be surgically repaired. I suspect I will be having a 3rd surgery one of these days.
I ran in my teens and 20's religiously without any issues. When I was 30 I started having some back pain problems and was later diagnosed with the bulging disc. I was still running but not quite as much. I went to a neurosurgeon who asked me if I had back pain or leg pain. I told him I had back pain and he said he could not do anything for back pain but if my leg ever started hurting to come back and see him. When I was 34 my back pain eased up and I had the most terrible leg pain you can imagine down my left leg. I went back to the neurosurgeon who diagnosed my with a ruptured disc and pinched nerve and scheduled surgery. I have not been able to run since that first disc ruptured, even after the surgery . Same thing happened again seven years later to another one of my original bulging disc and I had another surgery.
That is where you lose the argument. It has nothing to do with Romo. It has to do with the years after Romo is gone. The Romo defenders feel so threatened by the ideal of having a QB ready to step in when he is gone and they should be happy that the team is prepared. Take the Barnes and emotions out if it and fans would say it was foolish not to have a replacement .
Most people don't even realize Manziel wasn't the Browns first pick in this draft.
They had Manziel and Martin in the same tier (Manziel, then Martin, then next tier down). As long as that is the case, you are not at all violating BPA by taking the player of greater need.
Good luck to JM in Cleveland. They have needed some extra excitement for years, and those great fans deserve a little fun.
I think a lot of people don't understand the tier system.
Which I am absolutely convinced the DFW media was aching to do. I have no doubt whatsoever that they wanted him in Dallas as a spectacular failure.
I bet Jerry is just spewing forth nonsense anyways for publicity and keeping the Cowboys and the NFL in the lime-light. Everybody was passing on Manziel.
Hill reported right after the draft the Cowboys had four players they were going after, not even considering Manziel. Two DTs, one LB and Martin.
I know I am contributing to this, but didn't Manziel get taken by a different team? why is there still a thread with nearly 200 posts in it?
Jones made the right move in NOT taking Manziel; his issue is that he talks WAY too much...KEEP OFF THE SAUCE JJ!!!
