I disagree but that's cool. I also want a DE but I don't want to take a guy that isn't that good just to fill a need when there are other, more talented players at different positions.

Likely just a difference of opinion for you and I. Again, that's ok. The forum will be divided on anyone we take. Hell even getting a guy as talented as Elliott last year caused a lot of arguments.

agreed. FYI since you brought up him covering OBJ. Here is vertical for both:

OBJ 38.5
Jackson 34.3

Here's my issue with Jackson. One, he's a guy that got by in college on pure athleticism. He has some fundamental issues. You saw him struggle at times with guys that had a skill set that he'd see more often in the NFL, trying to let athleticism cover up some fundamental issues. He also seems to project to a slot CB more than anything. As said above, I am not sure spending a #1 on a slot CB makes much sense from a value perspective.

Finally, this whole notion that he's also a great returner. It's bogus. Here's why. How many teams use their primary CB or RB or WR as their main kick/punt returner? Very few, if any, other than a situational return here or there. So if Jackson becomes a starting CB and key player for us, they won't use him on returns much anyway. So his value as a returner isn't really there for us. And if he only develops into a backup type CB where they then use him a lot on returns, you aren't getting value in the first round picking what is essentially a kick/punt returner.

The best thing about Jackson is................ he's not T White. Now that would be a CB pick in the first I would have a real issue with.

I wonder if the Conley situation ought cause us to trade back and pick up and extra mid 2 to use on him??

OBJ would muscle the crap out of Jackson.

And frankly, spending a first rounder on a slot CB seems like overkill to me.
Well, OBJ is one of the absolute best so.... difficult for anyone. At least Jackson could match size, speed and quickness with Beckham. They're both really good athletes.

But I understand. There are players that I just don't like too. Jackson just isn't one of them.

I know you have been beating the drum for DE help for a couple/three years at least and I want that help too.

Frankly, had you agreed to like the Jackson pick, I would have said someone needed to go check on you.

I've watched a lot too, and have him as the 11th best CB in this draft.
Per Mel Kiper:

Cornerbacks
1. Marshon Lattimore, Ohio State
2. Marlon Humphrey, Alabama
3. Gareon Conley, Ohio State
4. Kevin King, Washington
5. Adoree' Jackson, USC

Per Todd McShay:

25. Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama (89)
26. Takkarist McKinley, DE, UCLA (89)
27. Tyus Bowser, OLB, Houston (89)
28. Jarrad Davis, ILB, Florida (89)
29. Mitchell Trubisky, QB, North Carolina* (89)
30. Tre'Davious White, CB, LSU (89)
31. Adoree' Jackson, CB, Southern California (89)

Jackson would cover OBJ and slot receivers better than anyone we have. If he wouldn't be better than Scandrick right now, he soon would be.

Uh, considering that the Cowboys basically have nobody at D/B that's not saying a lot....

Adoree really? He's better than King already. King might be the most overrated prospect in this draft. I'd hate that pick.

McKinley
Harris
Adoree
Watt

My order. Conley would be good too if that whole situation is a nothingburger

Nothingburger, nice!

Ii get your point but Scandrick has pretty much been looked at as a pretty good slot guy. He's the one Dallas usually has on OBJ out of the slot.

I know he was recovering last year and didn't play as well but he's a solid player. My point was that I think Jackson would soon be better than Scandrick at his peak.

Still, I agree... Dallas needs secondary help.

You guys are nuts. Adoree is a football player and a playmaker.

Then maybe he should go in the Top Ten!

And part of his playmaking package is on returns and on offense. Those are largely meaningless facts because no team is going to use a starting CB on offense and returning kicks.

McKinley (I don't worry that he might miss some camp or games - I am drafting for more than one season)
Harris

I am split on King and Jackson. Neither would be ideal picks at 28.

I think people really believe King will be Sherman 2.0, the fact is Adoree offers more than any CB that'll be available at 28 if he's there. Harris & Adoree are my top picks at #28.
