Here's my issue with Jackson. One, he's a guy that got by in college on pure athleticism. He has some fundamental issues. You saw him struggle at times with guys that had a skill set that he'd see more often in the NFL, trying to let athleticism cover up some fundamental issues. He also seems to project to a slot CB more than anything. As said above, I am not sure spending a #1 on a slot CB makes much sense from a value perspective.

Finally, this whole notion that he's also a great returner. It's bogus. Here's why. How many teams use their primary CB or RB or WR as their main kick/punt returner? Very few, if any, other than a situational return here or there. So if Jackson becomes a starting CB and key player for us, they won't use him on returns much anyway. So his value as a returner isn't really there for us. And if he only develops into a backup type CB where they then use him a lot on returns, you aren't getting value in the first round picking what is essentially a kick/punt returner.

The best thing about Jackson is................ he's not T White. Now that would be a CB pick in the first I would have a real issue with.

I tend to agree with your assessment.

He might turn out great, but he was overly reliant on this athleticism in college. His lack of length (5'9-3/4", 31-3/8") has to be a concern.

It seems that teams sometime let a rookie starter return punts/kicks, but by their 2nd or 3rd year a starter is not returning punts/kicks. A small player is already at a higher risk of injury than bigger players.

He was an exciting college player, but if he is not a starter at outside CB, then it's a failed 1st round pick. At #60 I would be OK with him as a slot CB and punt/kick returner. It's still probably not the ideal situation for 2nd round pick, but #60 is almost a 3rd.

Primetime was a decent kick/punt returner. As far as Jackson goes I understand where you're coming from, but a slot cb has pretty much evolved to a starting position. Add in his special teams value as a kick/punter, Jackson seems like decent value at 28.

I think people really believe King will be Sherman 2.0, the fact is Adoree offers more than any CB that'll be available at 28 if he's there. Harris & Adoree are my top picks at #28.

What does Adoree offer?

I think the Cowboys would take King over Jackson if both were available.

As another poster just stated, you can't consider punt returning when evaluating Jackson as a 1st round pick because he won't be returning punts if he is a starter.

The Giants signed Brandon Marshall (6-4, 230) and the Skins signed Terrelle Pryor (6-5, 240). Adoree Jackson is 5'9-3/4" and does not have long arms. A 1st round CB should be covering the opponents top WR.

He was 6-1, 200 and such a unique talent that it's hard to compare him to anyone else.

I Know. Just was trying to show there are exceptions to cb returning punts. Patrick Peterson returns punts, so it's not totally out of the realm for cbs to return kicks and punts.
