..I agree.

While some here want to think that the Cowboys will draft a CB with one of their #1's..regardless whether we sign Pacman or not..

I disagree.

If Pacman is signed and he gets a green light to play prior to TC..then that changes Dallas' draft considerably.

A huge need is filled at CB and then we are suddenly looking at doing a trade for DMAC because RB and WR are going to be filled with 2nd RD talent at our #22 and #28 spots by most accounts if we stay where we are and that's not great value compared to bringing in a top 5 player like DMAC.

We can then look at WR to be drafted with our 2nd Rd. pick and we might even see another trade to move up into the second rd. more to go after whatever WR the Cowboys want to go after at the top of the rd.

Then CB can be addressed in the 3rd rd. as what we are talking about needing at that point is a 4th string CB need..not a #3 CB..there is a big difference in value there and that player could be found in the 3rd rd...easily.

If Dallas comes out of this draft with a franchise RB, a former top 6 pick in PacMan via trade and then is able to move up and take a quality WR in the 2nd rd..and a quality 4th CB in the 3rd..

..this draft and off season would be WOW by anybodies standards.

And I still think Miami and Parcells somehow are involved with whatever we do to get DMAC.

I can see Miami doing a trade to move back from the 1st position and trading places with somebody in the top 4 spots and then if DMAC is there at Miami's spot, they do a trade with us for our 2 #1's plus something else thrown in.

Possibly somebody off the roster Parcells would want to help his rebuilding. Plus it would probably help if we could unload them to open up for cap room to help afford drafting DMAC.

We then take DMAC.

The Parcells to Dallas connection is going to play out somehow..I just have a feeling.

And the Pacman deal is a fulcrum for this to be set in motion.

We'll see.

So who will you be cutting in order to pay the 60 million dollars you're going to need to sign DMac with Bill's number one pick?

I assume you're totally ok with the fact that at years end you're letting Owens, Newman, and Barber leave cause you can't afford them while you're giving that huge 30 million guaruntee to a runningback that was drafted #1 over all.

Not to mention the fact that you're not picking again on the first day to make that move. Our 2 first rounders along with our second are barely enough to move to the 5 spot, by the value chart (which isn't perfect but you can bet that teams keep themselves very close to those values). So now what are you throwing in to make up the required need to move to #1?

All I see in all this DMac stuff is a bunch of Cowboys fans who are going to spend all year long crying about how stupid Jerry is for not trading the farm to get him.

Well here is where I'm confused. Adam is reporting that it's happening soon, and keeps mentioning a 4th.

There is an article over at ESPN that says Dallas initial offer was a 7th but that was turned down so they've now offered a 7th and a player.

So which is it?
Ill bet it's a 4th or 5th and both Adam and ESPN are wrong.

A CB will be taken by the end of day 1.

Ive been looking into Antwaun Molden out of Eastern Kentucky. i dont want him in the first two rounds but after that he seems like a pretty good prospect.

If there is a player involved, the pick won't be near that high.
At this point I don't think anyone has an idea who/what is invloved.

Ayodele and a 6th: do it.

Why would you trade Akin, last year's starter? Are you that confident that an aging LB with a concussion is going to get the job done for 16 games? I'm not...I liked the addition, but I'm not even near ready to part with last year's starter and just hand over the position and hope he can play all year.

Because Akin's numbers in 16 games don't even match the numbers of the 'over-aged' LB who has been cleared to play by doctors, even after his concussion for 5 games...

Oh, plus Zach Thomas can actually cover, unlike Akin who was always lost in coverage.. Part of the fact that we couldn't cover was because our LBs couldn't get deep enough in their zones...

I cannot stress it enough...

Zach is a HUGE addition to this defense, not just from a leadership perspective, but actual play. Look at the stats of the TEs last year, when they played Miami with Zach in... The guy gave our QB trouble, per Romo's own words, in the passing game...

His measurables and bio remind me of Pete Hunter.

Does the fact that we are interested in Pacman affect Goodell in his decision?

Gotta wonder after what he did with the Wade Wilson fiasco.

Would his reinstatement be viewed differently if the Pats were the frontrunners in this scenario?

Thoughts?

I had very little respect for Goodell before but after seeing the totality of his actions, I have come to despise him. He is a bully.

The players have zero recourse. Upshaw saw to that and Wade Wilson is a little guy in the NFL. Goodell brought the hammer down on them.

The Patriots organization is led by the influential Kraft and is ran by NFL icons Piloli and Belichek. He backs off.

If jones goes up to bat for Jones then there is no question that Goodell capitulates.

That's why I posed the question..........I'm not certain Goodell surrenders so readily though with Jerry's involvement. I get the feeling he doesn't particularly like Dallas (that is an assumption). Prolly just me being pessimistic but I don't trust Goodell for NOTHING.

I made a thread about him, including a video link where they broke him down a bit and interviewed him, maybe I'll try to find it later. (I'm on dialup right now, not patient enough to search) but yeah I like the kid. Because he's got size, speed, height, and his physicality, a couple of people instantly said he should be a safety, which he has played a little of.

In my latest mock, which I'm still putting together, I have him as a 3rd round pick for us at CB.

Molden = :spanking:

I bet Molden is smart enough to know not to ask for a Philly cheesesteak at a McDonald's drive-through window, though...

Thats what i was thinking. if we were for some reason not to get a CB on the first day this is a guy id like us to target. He definitely a project.

He only allowed a QB rating of 74 but in that conference i want complete domination and that is just kinda good.

Then again i have faith in Campos ability to coach so I like the guy.

I'd think that Jerry Jones is one of the most powerful owners in the NFL and one of the most powerful men with respect to marketing the NFL across a wide spectrum (TV, merchandising, etc.).

That said, I really don't like Goodell at all, but if anyone could influence Goodell, it's JJ.
