But why would you go back, taking your wife, and then turn them down?
Maybe his wife decided St. Louis sucks.

I expect, though, that JG thought he might get an offer and thought he might need to make a decision quickly.

I love how Jason is 22-10, while Wade is 0-1 in the playoffs. Priceless.

I wonder if Jerry called Garrett's bluff.

Still fishy to me how a select few sources said the job was Garrett's while everyone Hansen checked with in STL -- team and media -- said they'd heard no such thing. And of course it turned out not to be true.

Couple hours after hansen said that he did a 180 and reported, that Garrett had indeed been offered the job and would be announced today

you my sir are an idiot...............did you not just blame the 2006 offense not being as good as the 2007 offense by saying it was because Bledsoe was the QB for 5 games?

so keep on firing back with nothing but statements aimed at making others to be stupid without looking at yourself in the mirror first.......

maybe you should read ....your own posts

I blamed the offense for sucking because of Bledsoe. How the hell can you blame anything on an OC with Bledsoe at QB? I couldn't blame Garrett or Sparano for that. Plus that was Romos first year of taking over an Offense. That's legitimate. I couldn't blame Sparano or Garrett for that. I don't understand how you can be that stupid. Garrett coming in at 2007 didn't make this offense ALL-WORLD as you imply.

He could have done that over the phone. He brought his wife because he was expecting a news conference.

To be fair last season the Ravens did the same thing, he brought his wife out to Baltimore. She rode around with a girl from the Ravens management checking out the town, while Garrett and Ravens discussed a contract.

Im sorry when did i ever blame things on anybody?.. I never made an excuse for Sparano. Maybe you need to read. I just gave you facts and you come back with B.S.. We all know Garrett or Sparano couldn't have a good offense with Drew Bledsoe. No coach could. Garrett is not the coach you think he is.. If he is then how come he couldn't land a job??? Remember last year he was the hot ticket. Now when he got exposed this year he is the worst candidate to sign.

The point is how can you not blame the offense for sucking because of Bledsoe?? You can see it plain is day. Any Cowboys fan will realize that. I wouldn't blame Garrett or Sparano for Drew Bledsoe. He was old past his day and talentless.

How? Maybe you should read the post. The whole post. How can you not blame for the first half of the season sucking because of Drew Bledsoe? Are you guys serious?

What I think happened:

1) The Rams were set on Garrett and thought a 4 year 12 million contract would seal the deal. Arrange flight to St. Louis.

2) Garrett's wife balks at the "pay cut" as she thought he would be getting paid more over the next few years since in the NFL salaries get structured for annual increases. Tells him she hates St. Louis and prefers the great state of Texas. Garrett, the whimp, takes her orders and balks at the contract. The Cardinals don't budge and talks stall.

3) The Cardinals offer their second choice, Spags, the same contract deal and he says hell yes.

4) Garret is sent packing back to Dallas. :bang2:

I never said Bledsoe wasnt to blame for the failures of the 2006 offense.....I said that other players were to blame for the 2007 season failures....and you acted like i was ignorant for thinking that way..then you went on to defend Sparano by using the same excuse i did (players)

Maybe i didn't express what i was thinking better. But Sparano had his faults too in playcalling but he didn't make you bang your head into the ground for obvious calls and preditibility on offense. There is some blame to go to players with Garrett's stint this year. But his playcalling was horrendous. So i cant put all the majority of the blame on the players. Its hard to be sympthetic towards JG when he has all this talent on offense and can't put a good gameplan together. Forgive me sometimes i can get a little heated in debates.

cause he is 22-10 as a OC with his #1 WR injured the end of last season and this season his QB out 3 games, all his rbs getting hurt, o-line injuries, and a crybaby WR and with all the drama ..i think he did well considering..... injuries and poor player execution dont mean he cant call plays.....

the largest problem people have with him is they didnt agree with some of his play calls.well keep in mind couch coaches are just that....couch coaches........if Romo throws 5 fewer ints...........or if TO drops 5 fewer passes........or if the O line prevents 5 fewer sacks........if Barber fumbles a few less times then we are not questioning Garretts play calling

Are u nuts??? Do you watch the games? We were a mess on offense, and it was his job to fix it. We looked like a bunch of guys playing together for the first time in almost every game. The injuries were not that severe..we still had our core players...TO, RW, Crayton, Witten, and you could argue when Choice came in the running back position got better.

The biggest thing I hated to see was the offense fall apart...I could have lived with the defense, since they have before...but our offense is what we lived on! He completely wrecked the whole thing!

This I agree with. Let's also add "running away from his problems" to the mix. The sad reality is that JG's luster wore down a little after putting together a lackluster offensive campaign this year. If he comes back to Big D and lays another egg next year the luster will be completely gone. No one will want his sorry ***.

Me or TO? If there really is any truth to that he's a real punk of a coach in my eyes and the Cowboys deserve better. A real coach embraces conflict and figures out a way to make it work as a positive for the team.
