So I wonder how good the Miami Cowboys will be this year....I can see them winning 5 games

I bet Vinny throws a TD pass for the Dolphins at some point during the season.......if we cut Brad Johnson, he will become a Dolphin.

If they're grooming their version of a Tony Romo properly, they should care less if it's Vinny, Bledsoe or the boogeyman throwing for them this year.

It's too bad most Cowboy fans were too stupid to realize that at the time. Most of them, if they had their way, would have thrown Romo out there before he was ready. Then when he would have predictably been overwhelmed, they would have proclaimed that he was just an undrafted free agent talent who was just one of Parcells pets. They would have sent him on his way the next offseason so we could draft a Aaron Rogers in the 1st round in 2005. You know .. a "real" franchise caliber QB, that everyone wanted so bad at the time. And by "real" I mean one drafted in the 1st round, so he has to be good.

Thank God Parcells is smarter than most Cowboy fans.

Yet, he gets disrespected more than anyone on this message board too. It's funny really. He only turned the team around in a single season and brought some respect back to this franchise. People are talking Super Bowl now but they were hoping just to have a .500 season before Parcells got here.

The "he didn't win a playoff game" people are pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, Parcells was the problem, and the reason we didn't win in the playoffs. That's why when we removed the problem, we immediately tore it up in the playoffs after he was gone. Oh .... wait.

Parcells wasn't perfect, but I find it hilarious when people criticize him for bringing along Romo too slowly.

a) Most of these people didn't give two flips about Tony Romo three years ago. They thought he was just some free agent spare and a waste of time. People were falling all over themselves in disbelief when a report came out that the Cowboys turned down a 3rd round pick for him, and ridiculing Parcells.

b) Look at the results. I think whatever Bill did with Tony must have worked.

Actually all Cowboy fans were screaming to Throw Drew Henson out there not ready. No mass Tony Romo cry back in that day. In fact those in the minority Pro Romo were beaten down and rediculed at the time.

All this talk about extra money.......I'm sure the Dolphins are offering him the veteran minimum....no team in the league is going to offer him more than that

It's almost as if some people consider it illegal to disapprove of something Jerry Jones does and look down upon anyone who does. The bottom line is, Jones pretty much put his tail between his legs and begged Parcells to save this franchise knowing full well that he'd have to relinquish a lot of his "GM" powers in the process so that Parcells could get his system and his team in place.

All that led to was the team becoming a legit contender again (aka Parcells did indeed save this franchise). People can bash Parcells all they want (even though it's stupid), but even Jerry respected BP enough to swallow his pride and essentially admit that he was not capable handling the football operations and "any one of 500 coaches" really couldn't get it done either. People want to give Jerry all the credit for drafts and other stuff for some reason while Jerry himself was paying Parcells millions to stay and riding the BP wave as long as he could. Jerry was learning from Parcells...it was NOT the other way around.

Parcells and Jimmy Johnson were just as or even more instrumental to this franchise's success in the last two decades as Jerry has been. The only difference is that we are stuck with Jerry and so people get convoluted and convince themselves his it's his way or bust rather than giving credit where it's due.

Except probably completely inaccurate.
Let's see if he actually signs. And then let's see what for. And then let's try to remember that *we're* the ones who cut *him* and not the other way around.

I bet parcells and company turn them around faster than they turned our organzation around.

They have put together a solid roster with hard workers and some talented players.

I am expecting them to be significantly better this year and back in the spotlight of primetime games next season.

Before long, Other teams, Maybe even the Dallas Cowboys will be cherry picking their roster like everyone has ours.
wow....just wow....would you like to make a friendly wager? you do know they are in the same division with the pats...you do know we went 10 - 6 and made the playoffs in year 1. this team is terrible....they just got rid of their best playeyer in jason taylor...they just used the #1 overall pick on a LT....wow, just wow. Drunk of Parcells a little?

It'll all depend on whether or not their QB is on their roster yet. That was the delay in developing our program, if you want to call it a delay.

I doubt we're picking off their roster any time soon. We should be set for a good long time with the current roster, and we've done a good job parlaying draft picks recently. I do think Miami can turn things around quickly if they get a bit of luck at QB. I'm kind of surprised they didn't go after LeCharles Bentley.

Well, from some reports, Glenn had decided to stay, it was Jerry's decision to cut him. So some extra money had nothing to do with it, it wasn't Glenn, it was Jerry.

Sorry, I'm not excited about this in the slightest. Sure some will fall in two places, either he will succeed and some will be mad we let him go, or he will fail and some will say I told you so.

Either way, I'm still pissed at the way Jerry handled the situation, especially when he is so desparate for a ring. Don't blame Glenn, any vet would be hesistent to give up that kinda money and take time to think it over. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to make the most money you can during the limited opportunity you have in the NFL.

If Terry does succeed, Jerry deserves to get put over the coals for his one.

And I've seen reports that stated just the opposite. I'd love to read some form of definitive word, but it doesn't look like we ever will.

So, by your logic, it's strictly Jerry's fault and Glenn bears no responsibility at all? I think that depends on what version of events you choose to believe.

And if Glenn fails, does Jones then get credit?

Just trying to be fair here.

Uh, he actually agreed to Jerry's split salary. It was the Cowboys who decided to let him go because of the risk.

Its funny you would bash him for putting money over winning when he supposedly agreed to sign the split contract.

Well when you get 5 million for last year for doing..... Not much....

You would think he would hang around to get a shot at a ring.

I honestly didn't see this happening. With the Dolphins rebuilding, signing Glenn isn't exactly the thing to do for them. Glenn being late in his career, had made it clear several times that he had put off the surgery because he wanted to win a Super Bowl which will not happen in Miami.

I think it had more to do with the way Austin and Hurd seems to have improved quite a bit over last year. Considering we were quite prolific without Glenn last year and the receiving core is better, why risk Glenn getting hurt even at $500k or even him not getting hurt and spending $1.7M and possible not improving what is already a very potent offense.

For every story that says that, I can show you one that says he refused to sign it.

At this point it's all what people choose to believe.
