Winnable for the Giants, yes, but I'd bet Minnesota simply because they've no doubt heard the creampuff chatter and will have a lot to prove. They'll cover too. Anything less and the chatter continues.

I have small money bet sheets with my friends every week going back to 2007. I may have to pick this game. It would be straight up too. No points. If I have to choose, I'm taking the Giants. That's how little faith I have in the Vikings.

Daboll is saying he is not resting starters. So no matter what is being reported, the coach is saying starters are not resting.

Okay. I know I talk about how the Giants are in a great position playing Minnesota but the Vikings would be my lock of the weekend if I were just picking winners. Let's see how it goes and then I'll only charge you a small fee for the rest of my golden picks throughout the playoffs. Lol.

The Giants are going into Minnesota and beating them. Maybe I'm losing it. But I was a heavy gambler in my hayday. I'm just seeing the Giants as the better team.

I just think people are playing up the creampuff angle so much that they will take it personally and look to embarrass the Giants. Then I will no longer only be known 'round these parts as a conspiracy-squasher, but a PLAT king as well. Lol.

I also want Dallas to rest some players. I know some will say this is a losers mentality but in fact I think it's the opposite. Only one team per conference gets a bye week so it makes sense for a lot of teams to create their own bye for their most valuable and/or beat up players.

I would take a 12-5 record and a playoff run over a 13-4 record and a possible injury to a starter or two before the playoffs even start. On wild card weekend nobody will even care who won the Cowboys-Commanders game.

Don't know what the Giants will do with their starters. But with Hurts being listed as questionable and having limited practices, it seems to point to the fact that the Eagles are going to have him play sooner than they might be comfortable with. Didn't do themselves any favors by losing to the Cowboys and Saints.

If you listened to his entire press conference from Monday, he’s not lying. He left to door wide open with regards to benching starters. People here took one small quote and ignored like a dozen other comments he made like when he said he and the GM would sit down later, assess the situation and do what’s best for the team when it came to Week 19.

Here’s what beat reporter Pat Leonard tweeted after that early week press conference:

“Brian Daboll: Giants will do what's best for THEIR team this week vs. Eagles. When asked about Tom Coughlin playing all his guys in 2007 and if that's "right," Daboll says NE was undefeated then and each situation, including 2023, is different. Sounds like he'll rest guys.”

That's probably because the tweets didn't cover the entire press conference, just the part where he kind of went out of his way to say he wasn't resting players.

That said, I'm still not considering anything a certainty. Tom Coughlin would be playing his starters, and it worked well enough for him.

I dont believe there is an absolute answer to the question in general. There's a lot of context going into the decision.

If I was Dabol I'd start everyone and bench them if it looked like the Giants were going to lose. If they are playing well and have a legitimate shot I'd keep playing and hope to carry that momentum.

If I'm MM, I'd start guys and pay attention to the Eagles game. If the Eagles are running away I'd bench everyone I could.

I'd have to have a top seed locked, and my team playing well to decide on rest prior to kick-off.

Different team. Different coach. That '07 Giants team actually looked really good playing the 15-0 Patriots. But would he have played his starters had the Patriots been 14-1?

Either way, this Giants team is garbage. There's really nothing Daboll can do except to tuck his tail between his legs. Who are we kidding? This Giants team wouldn't even cover the spread, let alone win. And that's with their starters.

"Resting" is terribly overrated as a strategy, unless someone is really hurt. Better to be sharp from actually competing. Reminds me of the dummies who want to kick the ball away when they win the toss. Two nouveau/faux-clever strategies that don't turn out as well as their proponents would have you believe.

Well that sucks but not unexpected. Why would they play their starters here? We would be resting our key players I'm sure if this game was meaningless. And if we didn't choke away the GB or Jax game, it would be.

He is a first year HC with a surprise showing with his team. No way he risks injury with a team that would have to play a near perfect game to advance in every game.

All of these HC's are full of it going into the last game. It's what Parcells considered the "good lies" like the draft.
