Requiring Lights Out Defensive Play Is Not A Formula For Success

We're 3-1.

The 1 is from the one game that the defense didn't play lights out.

The game last week showed what happens if the defense isn't dominate.

The defense/special teams have put the ball into the end zone more than the passing game has thus far.

This is not sustainable and if these red zone issues are not fixed we are going to lose more games that we should win.
the defense wasn’t just “not lights out” they were terrible. it’s not as if they played well and the O just let them down.

Enjoy the win, there's no need to complain about everything, especially Dak in every post you join.

Maybe you're just a miserable person rhat can't live without complaining, but let the rest of us enjoy a win!

Your constant whining in a message board will not do anything to change the team.

The game last week showed what happens when your three best O-linemen are out and you replace then with undrafted rookie free agents.

Imagine the outcome if Martin and Biadasz wear wearing civilian clothes and it was Bass and Hoffman out there. The Cowboys defense was effective because the Cowboys offense kept them on the bench. Otherwise, they may not have been able to maintain level of aggression.

The offensive line isn't in sync because they haven't been playing together. We still have not seen a game in which all 5 designated starters are in there. I am a big fan of Tyron but if he can't be there then it's time to move on, settle on a replacement and allow this O-line to form some cohesion.

I do agree with most of what you said. Next week will be a good test, because I don't think the defense is going to be the reason we win, if we win. I am nervous about CMC, and we might only see 6 or 7 offensive possessions if SF dominates the time of possession. Offense will need some big plays and no redzone hiccups.
Like the last 2 times we played them, the defense will do ok, but won't have a couple TD's or turnovers. That's just too rare vs them. I think the offense will need to score 27 or more to get the win and they haven't really done that without a ton of help from the defense. But we will see.

A defense playing good is sustainable. "Lights out" is different. Allowing 28pts, 400+ total yards and 14 penalties, is alot for any offense to overcome.

The offense does need to improve, but if play we well together as a team... we are hard to beat.

Absolutely, Lest we forget this was the easy part of their schedule, now they get to go to Santa Clara and play the 49ers followed by the Chargers, Rams and Eagles. Cowboys will get blown out with their red zone woes!

Definitely can’t depend on turnovers and defensive scoring, especially against very good offenses.
Why not ? Maybe next week we get 2 interceptions and a strip sack score on Purdy. He's not perfect, pressure will create mistakes from him too.

This is definitely the formula for this football team though.

If they can just get in the postseason, get hot and have a little luck, who knows? We have the capability of carrying this QB and that is exactly what we'll need to do.

A few years ago we had no shot in the postseason with our offensive led team. Now we at least have a prayer with this defense and special teams.

You have to win in 2 of the 3 phases of the game..... Offense, defense, special teams

What travels in the playoffs, run game and defense.

Defense can absolutely be this teams identity with great special teams play. The offense in general isn't terrible like some of you folks like to say. Their issue right now is the redzone TD scoring. Fix that issue by just scoring the TD before the redzone, like today with Lambs TD.

As much as I am against doing that. They might have to play a cover 1 type of defense, with a spy on CMC and and just force Purdy to beat them. Place the whole game plan on stopping the run. Try and speed the game up on defense, and see if Dak can catch lightning in a bottle and have one of his great games.

These type of threads are laughable. Peop
He almost was today.

20/21 against the defense that dog walked Dak.
You mean like Dallas did to the Patriots that Philly was very lucky to beat? Pats kept Hurts in check and if they had a decent offense they would have won. Birds defense, especially their DBs and LBs are weak. Birds defense plays like that against the Cowboys then they will lose.

It actually can be. It's harder than having a great quarterback, though.

PS: Our defense is awesome.
