I was extremely high on drafting Myles Jack. I thought he was going to go in the top 5 or top 10, so for him to be available at our pick in the second round felt perfect.

I hadn't spent much time looking at Jaylon Smith because of the injury, but after the pick I looked into him. When healthy he was considered a generational linebacker, right up there with Kuechely (sp) and Ray Lewis.

The Cowboys took the risk with Smith and they must have determined that he was a better player and had a better outlook than Jack. This draft pick not being available this year has little to no impact on whether or not it was a good pick. If the Cowboys got the player they thought they were getting this is a homerun, if he isn't or doesn't get healthy, then it'll be a bust, but to judge it on whether or not he is ready this year makes little to no sense.

And for people to suggest Jack would have been the difference maker for this defense this year should look at his stat sheet for the Jaguars...

All I ask here is that you judge the pick on the merits.

Myles Jack doesn't start and it's only been 2 games. I don't think it's fair to criticize him for that.

Jags fans are asking for Jacks to start. Just now, there are people upset the LBs are getting lost in coverage.

I still like the pick. No defensive guy drafted in the 1st or 2nd wouldve made much of a difference if any this season.

The Jags are deep and experienced at LB. Jack would have been a starter on Cowboys D, of this I have no doubt.

Would trade McFadden and a mid round pick for Jack right now.

Well I didn't like how they basically said Jacks career could be over in 2 or 3 years. Jaylan was the opposite. If his nerve sparks up which is a big "if", he'd have a more promising career.

If you have already looked at the stats, then why not provide them?

It appears that Jack has zero tackles for the season. He is listed as not starting game 1 and I assume that he didn't start today either.

Comparing the 2 players at this point is fruitless regardless of which side of the argument you favor. It's all about the medical for both players and we won't know those answers for quite some time.

What we do know is that most teams thought Jack's knee would eventually have problems. We also know that the Cowboys team Doctor knows more about Smith's knee than anyone on the planet.

A rookie linebacker is rarely going to be a big difference maker. They usually come in and at best are adequate. Years 2 and 3 is when you see them become special.
