I was extremely high on drafting Myles Jack. I thought he was going to go in the top 5 or top 10, so for him to be available at our pick in the second round felt perfect.
I hadn't spent much time looking at Jaylon Smith because of the injury, but after the pick I looked into him. When healthy he was considered a generational linebacker, right up there with Kuechely (sp) and Ray Lewis.
The Cowboys took the risk with Smith and they must have determined that he was a better player and had a better outlook than Jack. This draft pick not being available this year has little to no impact on whether or not it was a good pick. If the Cowboys got the player they thought they were getting this is a homerun, if he isn't or doesn't get healthy, then it'll be a bust, but to judge it on whether or not he is ready this year makes little to no sense.
And for people to suggest Jack would have been the difference maker for this defense this year should look at his stat sheet for the Jaguars...
All I ask here is that you judge the pick on the merits.
Sigh...
I loooove Smith as a player! But, never liked the value of the pick, imo if you give up that pick, basicaly a low first almost, u need a first next year at least! Not a maybe imo! Id rather have someones pick than smith.
As for right now, looks like the giants, picking behind us, schooled us!
Sterling Shepard should be a cowboy right now like his dad! What he could give dak right now is better than a bird in the bush!
Williams was a third round pick who has teased, butker is a castoff w ability, why anybody expects more of them is as dumbfounding as why anyone expected 5th round slowster street to be worth a darn
