Oh, the only two game for other rookies. But some here call Zeke a bust.

Myles Jack is a 2nd round pick so I think he's got a longer leash as far as getting accumented but at the same time I'm not one of the ones calling Zeke a bust. I do think it's a bit scary that we spent a #4 pick on a running back though and 2 weeks in he hasn't exactly been a world breaker. I think he was pitched to us as the most NFL ready player in the draft. But I think he's shown flashes and will be fine in due time.

Should've waited for Smith in later rounds,IMO. You have to get an impact player in the 2nd round and Smith was pegged to be a huge gamble/project. Who knows, someone else might have nabbed him in the 2nd.....

The Cowboys overdrafted their top 2 picks and I would even argue their top 3 picks. GM Jerry has no consequences for his decisions so this is what we get.

That being said, they are Cowboys so we have to hope like hell that they pan out. We also have to hope they spend next off-season fixing the defense.

Ideally we'll have three solid pieces coming next year to the D (Jaylon Smith, a high draft pick or two and Randy Gregory...not expecting much from him this year if he plays at all)

This was a Tweet from Marcus Mosher about an hour ago.

Brad Sham to Jaylon Smith "Have you had any change in your knee? Is it beginning to regenerate at all?"

Smith: "Yes. Yes it is."

And this was a follow-up...

Jaylon Smith also said that he also got a positive report last week on a test. Didn't want to go into detail, but a BIG smile on his face...

Can you post a link to the video or audio...if you have one

Quite frankly I didn't want either one. Noah Spence was the pick. Regardless of who they favored, it was inexcusable to go into the draft/season relying on McClain. And no this isn't hindsight as I never wanted him back after that 1st season.

Ok, well I actually wanted whichever rookie picked after us is playing the best right now.

There is a video of Sham with the Smith brothers.

If this was supposed to be you taking some kind of shot at me wanting Spence, feel free to go and check the draftzone where I said as much back then and well before the draft. If that's your intention, go throw your uninformed one liners at another poster.

Agreed. But still not too late to make a move, whether via trade or sign a player still available.

They better do something at the LB position, because it's going to cost them significantly if play doesn't improve there. Not much hope for upgrading the pass rush outside of Lawrence coming back.

Honestly, if neither had ever been injured, I would have preferred Jack. Having said that, I'm not complaining about Smith, just hope that we get a chance to see him play someday.

I don't think a lot of people realize that the Myles pick was really risky too. He has a bad knee, and i'm not exactly sure what it is medically (meniscus?), but basically it isn't growing back and *could* be a time bomb.

Jaylon is a baller, and the 2nd round pick is a sunk cost at this point anyway so there's no point in being mad about it. Everything I read about him goes to show that he's one of those legitimately nice, optimistic dudes, so I'm rooting for him on that level too.

Personally, I have no idea if he plays this year. I mean, I doubt it, but who knows. He's been training so it's not like he has to rebuild a whole bunch of muscle. There's still over 3 months of the regular season left. I hope he can contribute, we definitely need all hands on deck at this point.

From what I remember the meniscus was the larger chunk that needed to be sewed back on instead of the typical trim. Those are dicey but as long as they take they are ok. But he also has the same issue as Leary I believe where his knee could go at any point and then he would need to try microfracture.
