Revisiting the Sean Payton idea

At one point there was buzz of him being HC here which unfortunately never happened. However now there are a few factors that make me believe it's possible:
-the saints are terrible and brees is on the wrong side of 30
- Jerry always loved Payton
- There's only so much excuse making for JG
- Payton can develop Dak
- Payton has a home in the metroplex
- Payton has championship pedigree
- Payton is more innovative and would maximize Dez talent

Am I wrong? Would a losing season potentially lead to discussion of JG being shown the door?

yeah that would be my worry. BUT I look at all the other POSITIVES of Payton over Red Ball and I am quite willing to risk it.

Payton had his wonderboy run but has 3 straight years below .500 and likely to have a 4th. He has hardly been good at rebuilding his own team.

Maybe for him it would be a resurrection as well, but I am not entirely against Garrett so far, I will let him finish the season, it still is very early.

Peyton is much more innovative on offense. Garrett is so vanilla it makes you want to take a nap.

But I share those concerns about the defense.

We were ground and pound in the 90's as well yet Emmitt caught almost 80 balls per year. The way the NFL is heading with the Gurleys and Hunts down field is what we need to do with Zeke. So jealous!

I've always enjoyed watching Drew Brees engineer Peyton's offense. Put that offense here and the holes for Zeke to run through would be enormous. Creativity causes problems for the defense.

Won't happen though.

Unfortunately, Jerry is not firing Garrett any time soon. If he did, it would be a coaching failure that he bragged about and he is not about to admit that.

The best I can hope for is some coordinators......defense first.

I would be heavily in favor of this.

He was an excellent coach here.

Early on he tudored Romo..

so well he got the Saints job and won a SB.

Yes yes double yes.

But will never happen.

I do not see anything Garrett is doing wrong except the team is not playing for him, Jerrah or the fans..

And mostly not for their selves like last year.

Our team has a long history of playing down to the competition all the way back to 1965.

Meh..

This season is like a Blzarro Comic strip..

the players look the same..

but the results are very different.

Time to turn the page to the Packers.
